Football Thread 2019/2020

Fucking hell Rashford seems like a good kid. I'm so used to footballers being vain dickheads even when they "do some charity". He really stands out as a good egg.

This is going to be an interesting dilema for the press and a chunk of the public.

Plays for England, seems like a decent guy, wants to help starving children, but he is <whisper> black so might be part of those scary BLM types and might hate statues and maybe he flys Easyjet when he can afford not to and free school meals are a benefit and benefits are bad and posh Tory MPs who love Brexit don't support it and we must listen to them and not some footballer, but he scores goals for England and hungry children is sad, but .pb cnf#'hkl,#['

Government: "Footballers should be doing much more to help in this crisis"

June

Marcus Rashford: "I've been feeding poor kids.  Maybe you should be too."

Government: "No."

Gonna steal this. It's so perfect in showing how fucking awful the Tories are.

*edit*

Government literally just did a u turn as I used this on Twitter.

Anyone telling that to Fuck off is alright in my books. Doesn't matter if it is the real Marcus Rashford, a fake, or Marcus Rashford using a fake to tell that to Fuck Off. ;)

Also, once again. Marcus Rashford is a hero for the work he has done of late.

I just came on here to post that. Got a lot of time for Deeney; he's obviously a bit of a marmite character. But, if I can still like him after he did this to us, then he's got to have something about him.

I thought he seemed alright before and he sounds nice enough on the podcast but the bit where he tries to defend 250k a week salaries, in the current climate, with a tone of ‘it’s only £125k after tax, woe is us’ is a bit nope I’m afraid.

Come on Villa!

Win tonight and all the other times it benefits us, but absolutely lose to us.

Also, Wolves are giving season ticket holders NowTV passes apparently.  Just after I'd renewed mine :)

And Now TV are offering a 3x Sky Sports Month bundle for £75 (25x3)

Which is a bit cheeky as there's two months of Football left.

oh and...

OMG Football's back!! :omg:

Had a probably stupid thought about away teams maybe doing better and not just becuase of the lack of home advantage.

Home team players going to the ground from their house as normal - a break from lockdown and social distancing, but not much different to going to training in terms of routine.

Away team players get a mini break/night in hotel with their team and probably makes it all a bit more of an occasion to counter-act it being behind closed doors/no crowd. The are more up for it at kick off.

This will be proven when Arsenal win 7-0 tonight ;-)

Interesting stuff. As well as being pro-home team crowds are also anti-away team. So players not getting shit on and being relaxed must help performances too.

You've also got the possibility of struggling teams who were under pressure from their own angry home crowd playing with a bit more freedom. Go one nil down and don't get turned on, although equally no-one to roar you on.

plus you've got the pressure on referees and linos from so many fans screaming at them, VAR has addressed some of that but doesn't look at every call by any means.
