I was really enjoying it until it got to the point where it looked like they ran out of ideas and decided to pad it out with what felt like almost back to back increasingly difficult bosses...

150 hours of 'really enjoying it' still sounds like a lot of enjoyment though!

 

I don't 'finish' the majority of games. I don't think I need to in a lot of cases.

yeah… I don’t regret those hours, in fact I loved them. Then I noped out with ‘life’s to short for this shite’ rather than spoil the game for myself.

I thought the first one was excellent. Just a neat statue and a big box. Not an oversized box full of cheap tat as what seems to be the trend now.

I did get the official art book and some amiibos as well. Same with the Splatoon games. Art book plus amiibos. It helps that the Splatoon amiibos are some of my favourites in their entire amiibo line-up. In fact, I hardly ever buy any amiibos, but when I do they're from Splatoon or TLoZ.

It looks like it will be building on/expanding on BOTW as a template, so unless you're expecting something as refreshingly new as BOTW felt Vs Skyward Sword I doubt it will be disappointing.

Who knows though! Maybe it will do something entirely new or return elements of the older structure in. Itching to know more for sure!

It will sell gangbusters. People will do the hyping themselves. Its the sequel to one of the greatest games of all time. And one which no-one is directly competing with.

 

Obviously we might want info but I actually think less is more here. Let people simply experience it.

I reckon it will be “the same map” as BOTW, but with big fuck off chunks of land ripped out of it which are now floating islands, and the craters left where they once stood within the landscape now lead to an underground network of caves and mines. The verticality is gonna blow minds.

The leaked SwOLED special edition has designs on the joycons that allude to similar, the left con has that green digital ‘ancient tech’ type aesthetic, which the underground is gonna be rife with, while the right con has fluffy clouds on it because you’ll be up in the sky just as much as you’ll be digging around the underground:

BOTW just absolutely battered all open world games all over the place - they’re still playing catch up… no game has matched its freedom and systems yet. Absolutely can’t wait for this…

If they’re using the BOTW map then an Underworld/Overworld/Sky Kingdom mechanic is pretty much the only way of making it work. Problem is........lBOTW was all about its map and exploration. Without the excitement of exploring the unknown and finding out what’s over the next hill, just wandering around the largely same overworld.......it would be shit. I’m really not seeing how they could make the same Overworld anything other than a total ball ache to navigate around. Which leaves the Underground, which doesn’t exactly sound like a varied and enjoyable place to explore. The whole Sky Kingdom thing is giving me horrible Skyward Sword vibes too. It’s the worst Zelda I’ve played by a looooooong way. I didn’t even bother finishing it, which is nuts as it’s Zelda and I love Zelda. OOT is still just about the best thing ever. So yeah, not sure what they could do with the Sky Kingdom stuff that would be interesting either.
 

If you’re just exploring the same bits of Hyrule but they’re now hovering above the ground........that would be shit too. There’s got to be far more to it than that for it to be any good and up there with the best in the series. I think they’ve barely showed anything for a reason. I’m guessing there will be some kind of Time Travel mechanic or maybe some way of controlling Time itself - rewind, pause, fast forward etc. Also guessing that stuff will fall from the Sky changing the Overworld - thus Tears of the Kingdom. Better not just end up as “SURPRISE!!! Online multiplayer!!!”. 🤮
 

If it does turn out to be Underworld/Overworld/Sky Kingdom then ffs, they better have made the underground stuff into a proper new Tomb Raider game. Totally isolated, highly atmospheric, loads of platforming, in depth puzzle solving, use all Links abilities to the max. That would make exploring caves, lost underground locations, subterranean lakes etc interesting and would function as one giant fuck off proper interlocking dungeon, that you have to keep returning to.

 

So yeah Its either going to be absolutely fucking immense or really fucking disappointing. Can’t quite make my mind up which atm.

Just had a thought........what if the world itself flips! So the BOTW Overworld is on one side of the coin/mirror but on the other side is a whole new Overworld. Mirror Hyrule! You can pass backwards and forwards between the two. Like you go down through the ground and pop up in another world on the other side. It’s like a reverse Bizarro World kind of thing. Everything is opposite. There’s also a Sky Kingdom in that World too. You could have a Dark Link as a bad guy. Actions in each world have a reaction in the other world. They’ve had 6 fucking years to make this shit. It either better be this, or Nintendo need to give me a call about directing BOTW3. 👍🏻
