I’ve read a couple of articles offering deep dived (and occasionally unhinged) analysis into the new trailer. They’ve talked about what the name could mean but none of them mentioned this bit!

They didn't?

That image was literally the first thing that came to mind when they revealed the title.

Skyward Sword was basically twilight princess in the sky with extra waggle.

Hopefully this isn’t BOTW in the sky with extra waggle

It was absolutely nothing like Twilight Princess, in as much as Zeldas are different. I'll agree we don't want waggle though, but I can't see that happening.

So what's on everyone's wishlist for this?

For me:

- More Shrines. They've probably run out of ideas for more in this game, but there are such a lovely rewarding distraction from the rest of the game.

- Keep the weapon system as in, the irreparable mechanic is great I think

- I would like to be able to cook in bulk, this system is the only thing in the game that can be really tedious.

- Lots of outfits!

I wonder if the split timeline from Age of Calamity will be acknowledged at all in this.

I remember reading around AoC's release that Aonuma was very clear the storyline of that game was Canon to BotW and as the small amount of plot that's been teased of TotK has had definite Time-Travel vibes I hope it manages to tie it all together.

Denuvo!

Has that been confirmed?

I doubt Denuvo is going to be used for this game:

1.  It’s likely to effect performance of a game that already straining Switch hardware.

2. Denuvo will likely be cracked quite quickly.

my wish list is:

1. underwater based areas and water based dungeons.  Water has always played a significant role in the series and I don’t think it’s was fleshed out in BOTW with no underwater exploration.

2. more distinct dungeons

3. Streamline cooking

4. More environmental elements and biomes, I.e. Tornadoes or hurricanes.

5. Moar clever physics and systems to play with

6. Hookshot

7. Proper fishing mechanic

Can’t believe it’s been 5yrs since BOTW.

I would expect a ground up sequel in that time not an expansion pack.

Hopefully the scope has combined considerably and this isn’t another majora mask/skyward sword situation.

I love when people obviously have no fucking clue how expensive and complex it is to make videogames. 😂 Good take, man.

Majoras mask is not an "expansion" by any means. Sounds like you never played it.

This looks mad good I think. I don't need to see any more. The people who made this known what they are doing.  If you enjoyed Botw then you've nothing to worry about.

If its using the Breath of the Wild map as a base its unlikely to be terrible, but IMO it all hinges on how it adds to/changes that.  We've already explored every square yard of this Hyrule, so how are they going to change it up? Are Shrines back? Are there Korok seeds still? If not, what replaces them? Proper dungeons? Will you really be re-exploring this land or just passing through? Will traversal be faster with the Sky accent & Bird-Glider thing? How much new stuff will the Sky and Underground areas add? Are those areas where the majority of new stuff will be?

Lots of questions, few answers.

The original trailer showed Hyrule Castle rising out of the ground, and I assumed that the floating islands might be other areas of the map that have also been ripped up. That would suggest we would get to explore those familiar areas up in the sky (no doubt modified in some way due to their upheaval) plus the new damaged ground down below.

It really quite compelling how even now, so close to release, this game remains shrouded in a cloak of mystery. Given the recent introspection over leaks, and how endemic they are, it’s quite an achievement that we basically still know so little about it.

Well we did bugger all exploring underground and from the trailer it seems there's no more shrines/towers dotted across the map. They must have withdrawn at some point and slid back underground. A lot more areas will be rebuilt and refreshed so a different enough experience to go back.

It's a shame this is on the Switch and not a next gen version or Switch Pro. The standard console struggles with games at the best of times and is getting pretty long in the tooth.

Of course.

but a company like Nintendo shouldn’t be concentrating on cheap filler.

Its beneath them.

I want 3 internally developed AAA quality games of the level of Mario 64 and LTTP per year from Nintendo at a minimum.

Before anyone pipes up, no. Pikmin is not AAA

Then play Splatoon 3.

Well no other company has ever been able to make a game as good as Mario 64 or LTTP (save Rare fluking Goldeneye and maybe Retro with Prime) so why do you think Nintendo can create that sort of magic three times a year, minimum?

Ah lol.  I should've known better than respond to this guy.

For the good of the human experience. Many peoples lives were improved by having access to BOTW. The same will happen with TOTK.

What better game could there be to have made people upgrade to a new Nintendo console though? I bought the Switch off the strength of BoTW.
