1.2gb update for x series just gone live, coming down nice and quickly

I definitely recommend flying to Barra, they have that done perfect, looks beautiful to a distracting level when you're trying to get setup to land. Nice short easy flight from Glasgow but there's a load of rural airfields around there you can use too. Just make sure it's a very small plane haha.

Anyone gotten the hotfix for the PC version?

 

Was supposed to be out at 4pm, I wanted to get it started so I'd have it installed for when I finish work.

 

Just booted the game and haven't had an update prompt

My S just turned up and set up quickly via the app. FS coming down the pipes. I'll see if I can save the offline World install for overnight but either way, I'll be playing this tonight and very much looking forward to it.

Yup, just patched. It’s an update via the Windows Store

 

Also finally done the world updates… they were painfully slow on Tuesday but super fast now

The integration with the Windows Store and GP is awful. Actually, it's more that the Windows Store and how it manages games on the PC that is so clunky backwards. Just needing to do anything via it when running a game from GP is a drag.

IIRC, Windows Store was never designed for gaming the way the Xbox back end is, right? More little apps and other smaller files. I hope the new store in Win 11, also coming to Win 10, sorts that out.

Hmmm... Opened the windows store, clicked 'Get Updates' and nothing.

 

Went to the page for the game on the windows store and nothing too.

 

I'll try a reboot.

PC updated via Windows Store here too.  Why doesn't the Xbox GamePass app manage the update?  Feck knows!

A nice flight out over Bora Bora

 

And then a flight past the Pyramids in Egypt to test out VR.  Working really well on my Rift - screenshots in 2D don't do it justice (obviously)

For those that have updated the PC version with the small patch via the Windows Store it might be worth checking your content manager as I now have almost 20Gb of updates to the various World Update packs to DL. They were up to date yesterday...

It certainly doesn't seem geared for games, or for managing games, in the way that dedicated launchers do that is for sure!

I downloaded the standard version and then the update. Then I set the offline data to download but it wouldn't let me start the game because it was installing. I cancelled the installation and it wiped the whole fucking game.

Yeah it’s a bit of a baptism of fire for us console users, rest assured once you get there it’s worth every minute waiting!

Wait until you start downloading the world updates in which you can’t actually leave the screen, in game, because it cancels the download if you do - and some are big, like 9gb’s 😬

It was a baptism of fire for PC users too as this game is really poor at the installation/update side of things.

 

On that note, if the Xbox had a hotfix patch today too then it will be worth checking the content manager as, if it is like my PC experience, then you may need to update all the World Updates too as it is not an automatic process.

I’m planning on flipping this on this evening and doing some actual flying rather than looking at blue bars or swearing at mods not working properly. Got this new G1000MXI mod to try too…. Looks impressive. 
 

I need some gamer tags to add in prep for some group flying in the near future. Is there a place we track these?

That might have been for the best if the World content is being updated the same as for the PC! You'll only need to do it once at least...

Not sure if this helps, but I downloaded the UK, US, and Japan world updates the day after launch and did not have to update those after installing the 1.2gb Xbox patch.

Might just be PC users (or maybe just me!) getting messed about them.

 

The annoying thing is that I wasn't aware they needed an update until I browsed the content manager and saw that 50 items needed updating. That sort of thing probably needs to be brought to the users attention a bit more sharply...

 

As they have all just finished updating I think I shall find somewhere nice in Japan to have a little jaunt in the Top Rudder before starting on dinner...

Just made the mistake of reading YouTube comments for a video explaining the PC hot fix. What a hotbed of over entitled, superior cunts they are. Seriously, the fact this has come out on Xbox is a real problem for these weird, insecure morons. It’s “ruined” the sim apparently.

IIRC there is a (very small) bell icon somewhere in the top right that is garnished with an even smaller red exclamation mark whenever the game has a message for the user but it is not especially visible nor something I regularly check. 

 

Anyway I've just spend twenty minutes trying to land on a helipad on top of a building in Tokyo, and failing. Instead I thought I'd go and have a look at Mt Fuji with a view to landing on the summit. Fuji looks as spectacular as you'd imagine but my Top Rudder cannot fly high enough to land on the summit. I shall take a bush plane up there next time..
