I tried a few of these tonight and had a similar experience, the take off one kept restarting me as it didn't seem to register at the point where it said to gently pull up, even though I was doing it and was airborne it just kept telling me I was too far down the runway and restarting me. 

 

It did help me though to figure out a few of the buttons etc. Will definitely do the ones for the jets as I'd like to try and fly those properly.

Yeah, lots of things like this. The game wouldn't give the next prompt or tick off the current one unless I pressed the guide button then pressed B to get back to the game. It made the taxiing section take ages until I figured it out. Even more annoying as I've done it before on the PC anyway. Bizarre stuff like that gets through QA.

So I tried flying from Wales to Cork so I could fly into that storm that’s coming.

It was pretty windy in spots and raining a lot. It was so dark I was flying 100% on my instruments.

After about an hour I zoomed out on the map on the g1000 and I’d barely left Wales coast lol

 

So I jumped in a jet and started in the middle of where the storm is. Lots of lighting, very low light even above the clouds but really I was somewhat disappointed by how dark it was, I don’t know why….that’s how it is in it.

I have been disappointed with the supposed realtime weather so far. Walked to the corner shop yesterday just in time for it to start pissing down, so I get back home and boot up the game only to find the Manchester in the game had blue skies without a cloud to be seen anywhere. Started flying to Blackpool and it didn't change at all. Got everything enabled to allow the weather, streaming etc.

It’s heavily dependent on whether the servers hold up. But also the grid size of the simulation.

The menu is acting a bit wierd in this game.

 

At first I couldn't find how to use the active pause, then suddenly it appeared to the very left on the menu that pops up when you click the left stick. Very handy and I used it to fly around a bit with the drone camera.

 

Started the game this morning and active pause was gone from the menu. I didn't do anything to get it there in the first place, and I didn't do anything to remove it. Very strange and annoying.

I had a bug yesterday where pausing wouldn't bring up the options. I am not sure if this was a feature but I couldn't, for example put the city markers back on or change ui accessibility settings. All I had was the little ribbon at the bottom telling me I could restart, quit to main menu or load and save. 

 

It was such an elegant bug I am not sure if it was a new feature they patched in for prettier pausing... I haven't had a chance to play it again since too see! 

 

So yeah it's a very buggy ui but that patch tweet is encouraging... I expect there will be a few of those coming in thick and fast.

after landing at an airport.. how do I park? I get the 'taxi aircraft to chosen destination' notification and 'request taxi clearance' (which I do) but then I have no idea where to go, and also the Cessna always veers off in some weird direction

I can totally see how this isn't for everybody as a game but as a software toy to play with its fantastic.

 

Going to buy that super slow £8 single seater player to make even better but a low slow flight over London last night was just beautiful, if you know the City you just recognise so much and it's the sort of game that gets partners who wouldn't look at a game interested. Once she recognised London and a lot of spots we did a flight over Tokyo where neither of us have been, was nice, felt like going on a mini trip without leaving the sofa.

There's an option in the assistance menu to turn on something called taxi ribbon. Once you've contacted ATC and got clearance it should give you a nice path to follow

Loving the new PC performance update but I'm getting a lot more random freezes / crashes to desktop.

 

Hopefully the hotfix out later today sorts it, because I'm loving how I can now play this on Ultra with decent FPS.

 

Anyone got any tips on improving the streaming? I'm on a 50Mbps fibre connection and yet I still get a load of pop-in and things slowly being streamed in.

 

Perhaps I'm just at the best I can manage without a better connection...

Last Night's flight was from Land's End to Exeter, and it was interesting.

 

The real weather was totally unflyable in the CTLS so switched live weather off (had to restart the flight). Once airborne for the second time, I had quite a few graphics gitches - trees in mid-air, a couple of islands off the coast with rainbow shorelines, some moments where the screen went totally black, but it held together till I landed and parked.

 

One neat thing is that I've worked out how to use the little screen in the CTLS to change my desitnation mid-flight, if I want. It's quite easy to use. the same screen is in the Icon.

 

Anyway, after landing and shutting the plane off, the game crashed so hard I had to power off the xbox totally.

 

After that, as it was getting late I did a quick flight warping the icon to Qikiqtarjuaq to see if there were any polar bears (there aren't), and did my first water landing.

The active pause button seems to have permanently disappeared, and I can't see any option that would bring it back. However, if you're on Xbox, I would recommend binding active pause to LB+L3, as it's not used for anything else and is more convenient than clicking L3 and trying to aim at the right button while your plane is careering towards the Tyne Bridge.

But what a rush! 

 

 

That looks unplayable to me.

I can’t see how they are going to make the Top Gun planes work.

That’s a good shout.

I need to reset the mapping and really sit down and think what I need. Reset trim would be the top of my list. Perhaps might be more elegant if trim itself was RB + Dpad rather than on the stick.

I would buy  a cheap keyboard but I think I can make the controller really work.

 

One thing I don’t really like is all the pc window stuff for the ATC and whatever else there is. It’s just in the way and could have been handled much better.
