Yeah that’s made for DCS A10c.

I need confirmation the Xbox version is going to support PC sticks. Specifically my Cyborg fly 5....which of course it won’t.

I was up for this, until I saw the ‘manual’ for it. I mean, it looks more like a novella let’s be honest. If you’re going to make the effort to release a physical edition and charge X for it, especially for a flight sim of all things, then do a proper manual for goodness sake.

Big chunky manual and a keyboard overlay! They should really be doing some awesome special editions sets for this...

So as much as I love that warthog stick. Now I’ve seen flight yokes and wonder would one of those be better for this?

I guess it all depends on what you're after. Having now received it, I am absolutely blown away by how good it is. It feels so good in the hand with all the switches and dials lighting up. It feels expensive as the majority of the body and switches are made out of metal. Although I've bought it for FS2020, I went with it as it allows me to play things like DCS as well. Say an amazing combat sim comes out in the future (come on Microsoft!), it's got me covered. Saying that though, if you're just looking for flying Cessna's or Boeing's then the yoke I imagine would provide you with more immersion.

IL-2 Battles over Stalingrad!

Still good for Elite as well, and the upcoming Star Wars game.

A yoke, throttle and rudder pedals would be more appropriate for most of the civ stuff it’s true. Did I see something about Airbus having joysticks though?

Get him lads!

If you want to think of this in karmic terms or anything, my car got stolen last night after the miscreants got into our hallway and stole the keys - I feel like this balances my universe a little :)

I had to agree to some T&C to install this, I think I'm not allowed to say much of anything about it right? I will say, after playing a bit of VR flight sim with IL-2 lately, being stuck in flatvision with a stationary head feels quite strange. And setting up my X-55 is apparently going to be a lengthy process of binding controls.

Also fuck me I tried to double-check I wasn't saying I had a head made from office supplies and WHSmith have bagged top search result on both versions of the word! Bastards. Anyway in VR you can get lots of visibility by moving your head about, not just tracking the rotation as you might expect.

I just did the Heathrow > Northolt > Past My House > Fly Through Tower Bridge thing and then dumped my plane somewhere near the end of the runway at London City. Pretty fun!

I must say, some of the incredible realism of the terrain makes the bits it doesn't quite do right something of a mild disappointment when you know it well. So the four weird hills by the A40 are there but are flat. I thought I'd have a look for Wembley stadium and got lost so headed into the west end via the Thames and some of the bridges are a bit naff, Westminster bridge looks like it's underwater. Tower Bridge was pretty smart though and they've done quite a few landmarks around the area.

I think next I need to go fly around some more hilly/mountainous scenery. Finding the control config a bit of a struggle, performance is pretty damn good though.

As someone who hasn't played a flight sim before, is it recommended that I buy some extra peripherals for this? Or would I get on OK with a controller? I was kind of thinking it could play like Elite Dangerous with controller bindings but I just don't know... Last thing I want to do is boot it up and feel like I don't have the tools to get enjoyment from it!

If it was VR compatible then I would probably invest in a headset for it as I imagine it would be pretty mind blowing.
