Deathloop

Also, I like that as a stealth game you have to deal with the consequences of what you do. Like in MGSV or last of us 2. You can creep around but if you fuck up, you’ll have to blast your way out. You don’t fail anything by not being stealthy.

Enforced stealth sections - like in Ghost of Tsushima - where you fail the mission and go back to the checkpoint if you get seen really wind me up.

Managed to steal 90 mins on this myself this afternoon in the end. Early impressions…

Pretty much as above. I’m a big Dishonored fan and this feels from the same stable in many ways (and that is not a bad thing).

Performance wise it looks great (again Dishonored ish, in places a bit Bioshock art direction wise) and it plays really really smoothly. Load times are good too. Sound is really good. Dialogue is pretty full on. Haptics/pad speaker usage are decent as well.

Plot/story is a bit bonkers and I don’t really have a good handle on what is going on yet. Lots of world lore/terminology flying about that I don’t know yet. Also not sure about the characters yet as it’s so early on.

Gameplay is good. Lots of varied methods and mechanics to play about with. The combat can be pretty brutal and so far I’ve definitely opted for a stealth followed by big guns method

It feels like I’ve only scratched the surface mechanics wise to be honest and I’ve not actually triggered a ‘Deathloop’ yet to know how that works.

Enjoying it a lot though. Will hopefully grab some more time on it later.

this is deep.....

only had an hour but its batshit bonkers and classic Arkane slowly offering you more stuff as you go, think its all hand holdy at the start and im sure the kid gloves will be off soon.

Really enjoyed my time and look forward to seeing how it all works with the day cycles etc.

Yeah played a couple of hours too.

but crazy bonkers but in a good way.

it’s striking me that it is a complex game so if you leave it for a couple of weeks it’s one of those where you won’t know what you’re doing.

But enjoying it so far if a bit confused.

graphically nice in 60fps and only real issue is the see as said before.

Just done another couple of hours and the complexity is just building.  Just like Hades but far more so.

Decided to switch off for a bit and okay something easier as it started just throwing too many things at you.

but the concept is one day and 4 times of the day to kill all 8 characters and then build your skills, weapons.  Just getting a stage where you can access some stuff to help reduce the impact of death.  (You can die three times a day before kicking back to the beginning)

it doesn’t feel as action as the trailers suggest yet but in time it probably is.

I jumped back into this for another hour blast post US Open tennis final (and beer).

Made some progress, killed a lot of people and completed a full day cycle alive and feel I sort of know some of  the levels now. But it is still a bit bonkers detail wise (and I understand very little about what I’m actually doing) but loving it nonetheless. 😄

Also just killed my first invader which felt good, very similar buzz as The Old Monk in Demon Souls for those who know it.

Arkane fans will find a lot to like here I think. Those that aren’t may need more convincing though, I’m not sure it is that accessible.

I feel like it's encouraging a lot more of an actiony approach than Dishonored. It strips away some of the complications, like having to deal with bodies, it's more gun-focused, and the enemies are easy to deal with in small numbers, so getting spotted isn't a big deal much of the time.

Yeah, you can definitely blast away if you want.

I’m hoping quite a few people got copies early as I’m planning on invading some games later :hat:

Took a while to find a game to invade and got booted within a couple of minutes by disconnect. Imagine the servers will be busier from Tuesday/Wednesday (you have to play for an hour or two before you can start online).

There’s a fair bit of progression for the invasions stuff.

I've just finished playing for about 90 mins and it sounded nice and immersive with 3D sound with headphones. It's the first time I'd used headphones so I've got nothing else to compare it to though.

My first three hours with the game have been increasingly positive. The more I play, the more it's slowly revealing its depth and I feel this could be very special.

@IainGamer 3D headphone audio seems fine on mine too, sorry.

Played another 90 min session just invading tonight. Matchmaking is unsurprisingly slow given the lower numbers of players at this stage but having some fun with it regardless. I won’t go into any details to avoid spoiling anything but there are loads of customisation/progression/build options. Also interested to see how it effects the main story gameplay once more people are active too as I’ve only been invaded myself once thus far.

Ambitious title this, really growing on me as I play more too,
