Luigi's Mansion 3 - Happy Halloween

Recommended Posts

Trying to get the briefcase off the maid. Has anyone else had it where she disappears mid fight if you don't quite get it right, but then doesn't come back? I've checked every room again on the 5th floor, used the Dark Light on the doors and she is nowhere to be seen.

I used the lift to go to the 1st floor, then back to the 5th, to see if that rests it, but no joy. Is it me being daft?

Haven't experienced that, no idea what to suggest apart from quitting the game and restarting your save to see if it somehow resets that particular ghost's state.

I'm stuck on Floor 8 at the moment, I think I'm missing something fundamental to how it works but can't figure it out.

Need to get the megaphone which is caught in webs. Gadd says fire could help. There's fire when you look through the camera on one of the other sets. Not sure how to marry the two since the fire disappears as soon as you stop looking through the camera.

Also the box the megaphone is trapped in can't be pulled open with the plunger anyway.

Feel like I'm missing something with how the cameras work maybe? I've visited all the sets and it felt like I needed to leave them until later.

Try working as a camera man and actor at the same time

Interesting, tried to do something like that but I swear it wouldn't let me, at least not the way I tried to initiate it. Will give it another shot, cheers.

This is my first Luigi's Mansion. I didn't know what to expect, but I'm finding it quite boring so far (floor 5). Wandering around the environment sucking money out of everything for a bit, then putting the Switch into sleep mode to go off and do something else. It isn't gripping me at all.

Floor 5 is still essentially in the tutorial (IIRC you skip a few floors early on to floor 5 and then go back to 3 and 4 immediately afterwards for some reason) so I'd stick with it for a bit if you can. Once you get Gooigi and the game lets you off the leash a bit the settings become a lot more interesting and the puzzles get better too - they're surprisingly clever in places, especially trying to find all the gems. Early on it can feel a little like you're just wandering aimlessly around rooms sucking up random shit but it does get a lot more creative.

If you're still not getting on with it by the time you get to about Floor 6 or 7 I think it probably just isn't for you though. It is quite a sedate experience that might not be for everyone.

There’s definitely a more filler in the early stages than the first game, which was fairly short but very tight with it. This felt like a Lego game at times in the first couple of hours.

My wife and I played it a bit more last night, and it did start to get more interesting once we unlocked Guigi. Hopefully the mindless collecting is just to help you get used to the controls.

Stuck  floor 2 second visit.

Spoiler

Mouse has eaten the button. I've used cheese to tempt him out but he's too quick to suck. Also tried blocking hole with gooigi?

About two hours in and loving this so far.

It’s supremely crafted - animations and lighting are sublime, with the whole gameworld feeling solid and legitimate. Incredible attention to detail and with fun and charm throughout.

Would love to this running in HDR on a high end PC.

I am loving this so far, a nice break from something like Destiny 2 which I have been playing a lot. I am finding the controls fine so far, ...apart from what I will no doubt find even more frustrating when I get further in the game, which is the plunger aiming which I seem to find to be my only issue so far.

It's not full of mindless collecting, the early rooms just don't have many puzzles so it feels like you're just sucking up a lot of furniture and gold to no real end. Once you're a few floors in the focus is quite firmly on puzzles.

Yep this happened to me too.  Did you fix it just by restarting?

I went off the floor, then back on again. Don’t know if that helped at all.

She was in one of the rooms eventually, even though she didn’t show up on the door. I just kept going in and out of all the rooms. Almost as if waiting for the game to catch up.

Seemed a bit broken to me.

(That’s not much help is it).

There's a huge amount of tat to spend ages picking up but it all seems optional unless there's some late game twist where you need to have a huge amount of cash on hand.

For the most part I'm enjoying this a lot. I'm about to start level 9 and the controls still feel a bit awkward at times but they are a lot better since I switched to using the should buttons.

I’m up to the 8th floor now. I sped through most of those lower floors yesterday and I think I’ll try t slow it down a bit now. The gameplay loop is fun and some of the puzzles and boss fights are inventive and satisfyingly challenging, but it can indeed be repetitive if you’re doing 3 floors back to back.

It would be nice to have something fun to spend all that money on that could spice things up.

It’s actually helped me, as I’ve had the same issue. I loaded up the game earlier, after having the issue last night. Scoured the floor with the black light to no avail and had resigned myself to having to start a new save, when I could be bothered. I’ll just go back later and search all the rooms again :)

Just done a couple of floors and I'm loving this. The first 20 minutes is slow but it's very addictive once you get the Poltergust G-OO.

Someone mentioned you can change the control settings so the shoulders do the gadgets but I can't for the life of me find the option. It would be good to be able to aim and choose which gadget to use at the same time.

It’s not a change, just that you can and it’s not disclosed by the game. L+R is the dark light beam - the game tells you it is X.

That cat section reeked of unnecessary padding. Hope that kind of thing doesn't pop up again but given how the section ended I'm not hopeful.

Up to floor 10 great game really enjoying it.... The cat bit did feel like padding a bit agreed! Although guess this  will happen again given it did before the cat too (mouse).

It's just so addictive one of my favourite games of the year so far....

Finished. Hurt my back on Friday so been a good excuse to get stuck in. I didn’t enjoy it much for the first  few levels but it gave me chance to get used to the controls and then As others have noted once you get Gooigi involved it got a lot better.
16 hours on the game save, not sure if it counted when I had it on pause whilst I moved from one position to another trying to get comfortable. I didn’t really try and get all gems  and Boos so there’s plenty more to do if you want to wring it to death for content.

:) Currently at level 10 hope the remaining bosses aren't that frustrating... Actually I found one of the earlier bosses more tricky than the later ones so hoping there aren't any difficulty spikes

Looking forward to seeing what the multiplayer stuff is like on this too once I'm done with the main game....

I’m around 4 hours in apparently and I’m really enjoying this, it’s the perfect game to play to relax as I’m all about Fortnite and Destiny 2 generally these days so this feels like bliss - it’s just so bloody nice to play and has just about the right amount of challenge to keep me interested :)
