Sega GT Online

Up until now I have bought nearly every Live release but I held back with Sega GT. Anyone care to tell me what Sega GT Online is like? I have one person on my friends list playing it out of about 70 people. Surely not another complete Sega bomb on Xbox.

I haven't noticed lag yet but I haven't played online much.

But yeah, the game finishes when the leader wins. That's not so bad though, it's good for impatient fucks like me that just wanna get on and race, instead of sit in the lobby for ages.

The best bit though, which in a way makes me prefer it online over PGR2, is the way you can bring your souped up cars online.

But I think it works perfectly how PGR2 handles it, you have like 1:30 minutes or something to go over the finish line after someone wins. If i'm playing a friend and someone else beats both of us in first, that means that me and my friend don't get a result. Which I can imagine is a bit annoying. Oh well.

Exactly, the race ending after the leader finishes is just stupid. What where Sega thinking?

i think its fantastic online! a breath of fresh air after playing so much pgr2! sure it has its faults- laggy races, race finishing early when 1st crosses the line, and is it me or is it bloody hard to join an online session? but, like already said, racing your souped up cars online is great fun, and the navigation battle and team battle modes show that sega have put some thought into making it fun! so, for me its a worthy oppenant alongside pgr2.

How do you race your own cars online? I've only played it online a few times (cos as you were saying its nearly fucking impossible to join a game :) ) and I've only been able to race from preset cars. What mode do I need to choose?

My personal feelings on the game is that its pretty average (but I'm hopelessly addicted to it :P ). I already own the original but I'm so tempted to take this one back to Game. I haven't really had that good enough an experience on Live to warrant a neccessity to own the same game twice. How does it compare to PGR2 in terms of play-wise?

Well i`ve had this on a 2 day rented and have to say it`s growing on me. Heres a tip to find a game quick. Do a optimatch search for all and look for the games without a flag next to them and join as quick as possible and you shouldn`t have to many probs. The beauty of online play only comes into play if you put some time in on offline play. Luckly i had a sega gt 2002 save which gave me 150,000 credits from the start and allowed me to buy a skyline gtr and customize it to the max. And this is one of the main points of online. Taking your soupt up car and testing it out to see how it compares to others. But there is a down side of this that people have put alot more time in offline which gives them access to more cars and better parts as more parts comes available as you progress through the single player and they can basically whip you. Lag is another dissapointing aspect when racing cause with 4 of us all from uk there was bad lag and seems poor compared to pgr2. Also track design can be very samey and can be a little tough to memorize corners as everywhere looks the same. Graphics have been improved slightly from sega gt 2002 with better lighting now but the image still looks quite soft though. I`m still in 2 minds wether to buy this or not. If i see it at arounf £20 and they release a update to sort out the lag then it`s definately worth a buy but how it stands at the mo i would say leave it. Does offer something a little different to pgr2 though.

I tried seeing what was happening online with this a week or two back (only had Broadband for about a month. I'd like to give this a try online sometime just to see what it is like.

We can at least see if it is worth pursuing. I presume you don't have access to an Action Replay or a Max Drive for the Xbox.

If I send you a Chat request from the Dashboard then we could go in then. That would probably be the simplest option.

We had a suprisingly fun session with this for about an hour or so last night. Does anyone else still have the game? We would like to give it a whirl every so often. I ended up spending about 3 hours on the single player game afterwards!!

Does anyone know how to unlock the downloads?
