Is there any benefit other than outfits and stickers etc to do all the daily tasks etc and buy the season pass ?

I pretty much only play Free for all if that makes any difference

Custom weapons. Not sure they're any different stats wise from custom-builds you can make yourself, but some of them are unique models.

However I'm now sporting the sand storm MP5 with weathered camo, a nikto sticker and cherry charm. I love cosmetics in these games.

That mp5 is actually fucking disgusting. It's amazing.

From what I can tell the blueprints are configurations that generally have attachments that normally would be unlocked through the weapon grind. Doesn't mean you can use them early on other versions of the weapon though.

And yeah, I'm a sucker for cosmetic bullshit too.

What's the single player like in this. It's a decent price on PC but I know the series is very heavily weighted toward online. I never, ever play online but is there enough meat in single player to justify 30 quid?

It’s worth it if you include all the special ops online coop stuff.

This stuff is pretty bad tbh. I wouldn't buy this for just the single player unless it's cheap. It's a really good campaign but nothing earth shatteringly amazing. It's still a multiplayer focused game.

Another extra with the guns you can buy/unlock... there’s a Kilo 141 AR with the Nikto bundle that has a blue laser sight and when you shoot an enemy the bullets/dead body emits a glowing blue smoke effect.

I thought it was brilliant. Spectacular, over the top, heart-pounding, shocking and thrilling. Loads of cool tech to play with, tons of weapons and locations, insane body count. On a big telly with HDR and decent audio it's one of the most mind-blowing things I've ever experienced. Its strictly a play once and forget it game, but definitely worth a day on the sofa to witness it. Play it in a dark room with your refreshments of choice and the sound up. On a PC I'm not so sure. You'd be likely to be more critical of it and get distracted. For me it's a console game for better or worse.

Nah I'm plumbed in in the living room. 65 all the trimmings and a 1440p 144hz, both hooked  into a 2080Ti. Xbox One pad and Atmos amp. I'm good to go for what you describe. :D

Levelling up the weapons is the most addictive and obsessive thing I've ever done in a game, but it's really cleverly structured between Gunsmith and challenges to (hopefully) help you to improve your skills by training you to get headshots, use cover or to use weapons that you'd have otherwise ignored. There are so many incentives and levels of depth to it once you start looking at all the ranks and challenges.

Getting back on it today after a week away. Been looking forward to it more than anything over Christmas.

Played so much Shipment and Shoothouse over the last few days pretty sure no matter where I am or what I’m doing, a part of my brain will always be playing Shipment/Shoothouse.

And btw, Shoothouse is the best ever COD MP map. They knocked it out of the park.

It really is. It's so small but packed full of opportunities for different tactics and sheer fuckery. I thought this map would be a nightmare at first but now it's all I want to play, the pace and madness is pretty much perfect for 6v6. Shipment is gloriously silly but Shoot House is a legit amazing map. I've played the Shoot Ship playlist all afternoon and can't get enough of it.

I’ve largely been ignoring all this stuff, just trying to get into it properly.  I find all the levelling and ranks and things a tad overwhelming.  Will have to make the effort to dig a little deeper!

I think it's designed to be played exactly as you're doing - find your feet and figure out what style of play you like, then you can start specialising and chasing upgrades and the objectives in the Barracks and daily challenges, and the masses of cosmetic upgrades, weapon blueprints and addons. It keeps your interest up when you might usually be drifting a bit away from the game, especially with the Battle Pass which is non-essential but worth having if you like having something to chase outside of the main game. There's always something to do that you haven't tried before with something to unlock if you successfully complete the challenges.

If you ever enjoyed the meticulous arrangement and planning of the briefcase in RE4 you'll enjoy the Gunsmith mode, it's totally different but scratches that obsessive itch for perfection and organisation in a way that nothing else has for me. It gives you a strong attachment to your character, especially when you start accessorising with all the cosmetic loot like charms, stickers and camo.

If this sounds lootboxy and cynically corporate it's not - it's not a pay to win game or compromised in any way if you don't buy the Battle Pass.

As a package it's phenomenal. I mentioned it before but it's really worth starting a private match and playing against bots, go 6 v 1 and it completely changes the feel of the game to be hunted down and up against an entire team solo. Rambo/Escape From New York vibes!

Will do. Got it there ready to DL but was sidetracked by Mario Odyssey. A game I've owned for two years but has only just clicked, to the point were I only want to play that. The exact opposite of COD. I blame Worzel Gummidge  up there for getting me in a whimsical mood.

Maybe stop wanking so much? Dark theme fucks with my eyes, night light for browsing but I turn that shit off as soon as I fire up a game. But yeah I could have perhaps took a better picture that didn't fuck the exposure of the TV back light. My bad.

Yeah I am far from a COD fan but having loads of fun with this just playing TDM and a few of the other modes.  It is all a bit overwhelming at first but I am slowly working it all out and finishing top 3 in most games despite not playing much since COD:MW2 on the PS3 back in the day.
