Yeah - finding the one or two opportunities was kind of how I survived it. My Maliketh notes:

Thanks for this. My mind is a lot clearer this morning but I'm still going to take a short break from it... may be back on tonight :) Phase 1 is a piece of piss, apart from the opening of the battle being this horrible little bridge where I need to spunk my Mimic and try to recover health before the deadly brown paper bag rushes me  I had runs at Phase 2 last night where he got stunned almost instantly and so I was able to rip into his health, but then others where he goes full Goku on me before I've had a chance to figure out where I should be rolling to.

Why is it always rolling?!

Hold on a minute and I appreciate asking this at this stage in my adventure is grounds for banishment to the mines of Caelid, but... is it possible for me to make my attack power higher if I double-hand the Grafted Greatsword and if so... please accept my sincere apologies for this next bit..... seriously.... how do I hold a weapon two-handed?

Y + RB or LB (Xbox), depending on what hand it's currently in.

Just fyi . I completed the game , and beat pretty much every boss , double handed and with a fully levelled ( or as high as I could get) grafted great sword  (or bloodhound) . I never used a shield once

it adds a 30% boost to attack power when you two hand and with the grafted great sword the special attack is a 5 level boost to all stats.

I was a strength / endurance based build

This. I've just, for the first time in the entire playthrough I must add, switched out my shield, went two-handed with Grafted, buffed my medallions full aggro and that turned into one of the easiest encounters yet. Last nights pain was all to lead me to this point of revelation :)

It sounds like you are similair to me with me leaning more toward strength than balance with endurance. I think my issue is I fight very aggressively but have never actually equipped myself to align with that approach. Fuck me. I do want to take a break still but... shit!

Yeah I was strength all the way . I put 0 into arcane and faith .mind was around 18, intelligence 20, My dex ended up around 25, endurance about 45 ( whatever it was I needed to have medium encumberance all the time with grafted great sword and full set of Lionel armour) ,strength 80, vigor around 50 or 60

then medallions to support and buff where I needed it. Generally the attack ones ( whatever the ones called that buffs jumping attacks and l2 hits)

Hahaha... looking at my sons build.  He jolly co-ops all the way through.  He's level 237 as a result of people giving him runes - and he put it all practically into endurance (it's 99!) haha..

I've told him to go back to the academy and change his stages, he uses Rahdan's great sword all the time... so he shove most of that into Strength and Dex, and reduce his faith and arcane to the minimum they need to be for whatever he uses.

I probably going to use jolly co-op to complete it - call on xbox gamers to help.  My son asked for help with Malenia and some guy appeared and basically did it single handedly.  Was impressive to watch.

I'd be happy to help if needed - it's basically all I'm doing now; going on, putting my sign down (near & far of course) and helping people. I've wrapped everything else up and can't be bothered to do it all again (twice) jsut for the final two achievements (I did the Ranni/stars ending)

most of the time I try to summon before a boss, no-one appears...

Let me know when you're on and we can set a password to ensure you get me - it'll likely scale me down (what lvl are you at?), but I'll give you a hand no problemo!

My tag is rxgraves - add me ;)

GOD SLAIN!

It took me grinding a little to max level my Mimic Tear and then going back in but that definitely made the difference. To be honest the final bosses were pretty poor compared to some of the incredible encounters earlier in the game but delighted to say it’s done.

Sekiro 2 now please guys :)

Game Maker's Tool Kit on the structure of Elden Ring.

Watched this today, I definitely think he has some good points. Surely the temptation would be to go even bigger for a sequel, but I'd prefer them to either scale back the size, or keep the size and have more unique stuff in it to find. I also think difficulty scaling of some kind would be good, at least for going back to easier areas, maybe not the other way around because you don't want to lose the 'oh god Caelid' moments. I know the horse is intergral to Elden Ring but I'd actually not mind seeing a smaller scale world without a horse to zoom around on, you could condense more meaningful content in a smaller area, have less filler and less roaming. But like Mark says, its still a brilliant game overall. But can it be improved? Definitely.

I feel like I must have accidentally played this on "easy mode" because I never struggled that much against anything in the entire game, and felt this was by far the easiest FROM game I've played. Started as a samurai, and in the end I was dual wielding Rivers of Blood and Nagakiba and with my mimic tear everything was just cut down in geysers of the red stuff. :) Think the only sticking points I had were battling the 2 gargoyles, and the commander in the swamp which took maybe 7 or 8 attempts each.

Come to think of it I guess the reason was, if a boss absolutely twatted me once or twice - I'd just shrug, go off and explore some other area and come back later for sweet revenge. You can't really do that with demons/dark souls you tend to get to a point where you have to beat one stage/boss to progress and it becomes a huge pain.

You fought Melania (blade of Miquela) and thought the commander on the swamp was harder?

Spoiler warning: most of the video is about areas up to and including the Royal Capital; the last section from ~15:50 covers things after that.

I normally really like GMTK but this was disappointing. Hardly any time was spent on the world design, a lot was spent complaining about the lack of enemy scaling (fucking lol). Felt like he felt obliged to make an Elden Ring episode but had little insight to share.

That’s me done the Ranni storyline, got my mimic tear up to level 10 and ready to go to Godfrey. Really enjoying it again but shamelessly using guides all over the place - I don’t know how the game is possible without that.

I think I just needed a break tbh, enjoying it again

I like the fact that enemies don’t scale - that’s not a problem. I think it’s fair to say that the last 1/3 of the game feels a bit rushed - like they ran out of time. Limgrave and Stormveil castle are still probably the most interesting to explore and entertaining areas of the game.

can I just add... I have absolutely ZERO idea what the hell is going on.  None whatsoever.  The entire game story makes no sense.  I get that this is one of From Software's things - but I would like a BIT more on making it easier for me to follow a story.
