I got lucky with them on my go. Misjudged a roll dodging the first one and almost went over the waterfall, had a panic, rolled back, looked to see where he was and he was Wile E Coyoteing in thin air just beyond where I just was, before dropping like a stone. Gave me a few seconds to heal up before the second one spawned.

Indeed.

After 80 hours, they are my first Seinfeld.gif, fuck this, fight. Just can’t even do one of the fuckers with my spirit in tow.

Waited around for a co-op sign for a bit and managed to drag in some crazy powerful mage dude and we just just about did one of them but then he just got one-shot into oblivion.

Gonna give up for now and come back much later I think.

There is an NPC summon for the fight, but it's a bit obscure...

Spoiler

You need to give a certain armour set to a certain figure on the route to the boss fight.

I refused to do that incase it impacted anything else :hmm: probably just made it harder for myself too

So just putting this out there...

Do you know if it's possible to share / swap weapons (including legendaries) in Elden Ring?

I only ask because I dropped the ball for the trophy with the Sword of Night and Flame, must have flogged it by accident  I was just going to ask if someone could help me out with that on PS5 please?

Any recommendations for STR weapons? I’m using a few that are fun but wondering if there’s any obscure ones I’ve missed.

This just occurred to me: do you have to actually kill Godrick, Renala and Radahn? I get how you have to kill Morgott,

so you can get through him to get to the next area

, but what's to prevent you skipping the other three? And is there a lore reason for killing them? They all seem to just be doing their own thing.

Godrick is busy driving his kingdom into the ground; Renala is just imprisoned in the library, feeling sorry for herself; Radahn is locked in a never-ending festival of death. Morgott/Margit seems to be the only one interested in actually stopping you from getting to the Erdtree.

You need two great runes to get into the capital, if you don’t have any then there’s a wall behind Draconic tree sentinel that won’t move. I guess you need to beat two of Godrick, Rennala, Radahn or Rykard as the others are all behind the capital. I’m guessing the shortest route would be Margit, Godrick, Rennala, DTS, Godfrey, Morgott, Fire Giant, Godskin Duo, Malkieth, Horah Loux, final bosses.

OK so the EB can fuck right off.

Spoiler

He shoots these homing orbs that last ages, but at the same time shoots a laser beam that follows you while doing a big blade beam of death every couple of seconds. There is no way that I can dodge all of those attacks at once, no way! Then the bastard heals himself too! You think you are getting somewhere then boom, big chunk of health is restored to him. And he is always out of range! As an astrologer my spells just dont reach, he keeps moving out of range. Try to run in and chop off some tentacles with my Moonveil, nope, he fucks off to the other side of the country while I get shot at by homing orbs, homing laser beams and blade beams of death!

Rant over. For now...

Just playing through again on Deck (proud brag) and I just love being in this world, especially those early regions. Sitting astride Torrent, looking out over Liurnia, from the clifftop near the Church of Irith, across the lakes and treetops and that incredible blue mist... is just my favourite bit of a game world ever, even on a 7” screen. Magical.

Real succession of utter shitstain enemies over the last couple of nights that is souring my enjoyment. Keep hitting walls and feels like the exploration, the fun part of the game, had been stymied by awful spammy bullshit enemies.

Last night was the crucible knight (regular enemy cunt version) and the Gargoyles, tonight is the fat fuck on the bridge to the Liurnia divine tower. Get him down fine and then he does that roll attack which I don’t seem to be able to dodge and it’s a one hit kill. Its cobblers.

edit: he just rolled himself off the bridge  twat

At the final boss I think - the 2nd stage, I just don't think is possible with weapons - I run and run to get it - I might get 1 strike in if the stamina allows for it - and then it fucks off and instakills

It’s possible, just shit. I’ve done it with weapons all five times, you just need to make sure you’re doing a decent chunk of damage when you get close. It’s MUCH harder with strength weapons than dex ones.

I killed Malenia earlier. She was a pain in the arse so I used mimic ashes - I don’t care if it’s “cheating”.

Now I’m back to utterly lost at Crumbling Farum Azula. I’ve killed the first boss there

Spoiler

(Godskin Duo?)

but I’m now just going round in circles.

On the ground floor of the building on the other side of the bridge to the Divine Tower in Liurnia, there's an altar for an item of some description. Does that unlock passage to the Divine Tower by any chance and approximately where might said item be found? In the Academy, or somewhere else?

I feel like I'll stumble on it eventually, but then at the same time in a game this big it is well within the realms of possibility that I'll completely miss it. :(

Sometimes this feels like two different teams working on the game - the one that wants to extend an olive branch to you in the shape of a Statue of Marika for boss restarts, the other is the fuck-you old school DS crew - the ones that do bosses like

  Reveal hidden contents

Dragonlord Placidusax

and the tedious 2 minute re-tread back to where you died.

You've brought this up a few times now and at the risk of coming across as a staunch defender of From's occasionally questionable game design, how many boss fights in this game actually require a long trek back?

Did all that last night. It’s fine, it’s pretty well signposted. At least, for a From game. It all flows after you kill Radahn so go do that if you haven’t already.

Just make sure you go see Ranni regularly.

Spoiler

Follow Ranni’s quest line for a bit to get the item you need there.

Yup. I'm going to take that exact route with my NG+ character now that I've taken out Rennala, then go through any other bosses I'm interested in once I've seen the credits.
