That was me. Well, fair enough then.

Seems weird to me, I don't think I like that change. A successful parry should always stagger the enemy so you can get a crit in, in my opinion.

Yeah it just makes it feel like it’s not worth trying. If you want to stop it being OP just reduce the damage the riposte does. They’ve already massively nerfed them in this anyway. The risk for trying one on most bosses is huge, multiplying the chances to fail by 3 just makes trying it feel dumb now.

@Broker Yeah, that'd be some effort, thankfully avoided.

It’s actually surprisingly quick:

Spoiler

Started NG+, ran straight to where you get Torrent, rode straight to Margit, beat him in under two minutes, asked the guy to open the front gate of stormveil, ran straight to Godrick, beat him in under two minutes, rode directly to where the academy key is, rode round the front to the academy, sprinted through it and killed Rennala in under two minutes, warp back to the academy entrance, take the other exit from the courtyard to bellum highway, ride straight down it to the grand lift, get the bonfire there, warp back to the start, ride to fort height and grab half the medallion, warp back to the start, ride to the third church and take the teleported there to Caelid, grab the other half of the medallion from the fort south of where you warp to, warp back to the lift, take it to the palateau, ride straight to Draconic tree sentinel and kill him, sprint through the capital to Godfrey. Took me less than an hour as I’d missed the same weapon as you.

Aaaargh fucking From with their fucking obscure questlines

Spoiler

I just accepted the Frenzied Flame. I didn't want to accept the Frenzied Flame, I just thought I was having a little look at the three fingers like you could with the two in roundtable hold. I didn't realise the meeting them was the point of no return.

So according to the wiki I am unfuck the ending, but Melina has pissed off

As an aside, as a bonus the sequence before that is infuriating. I like the jump button on the horse on the open world, I dislike it immensely on the ground or for exploration. Previously if Frok decided they wanted to do Mario, you could only really drop or roll. The Juno was mapped awkwardly and rarely used. Now they want to demand perfect accurate platforming with instakills. No.

You haven’t fucked the ending, you’ve just unlocked a different ending. And you can undo having the frenzied flame to restore a version of the basic ending, but it’s a long, arduous quest chain.

It opens up after you beat Radahn as part of the festival.

Yeah I've done that. All I've found is an old bloke who says something along the lines of

"Thanks for that, bye!"

And that's pretty much it. Can't do a damn thing that I can find.

Keep talking to him until he starts repeating dialogue, then reload the area.

That platform isn’t section was insane. It took me like an hour and I died about 50 times.

I was raging at that part. I managed by sheer luck. I fell and miraculously caught the ledge on the way down.

About the endings...

Spoiler

Is it a Sekiro type affair where you beat the final boss and still have access to the world so you can take care of events then choose your ending? Otherwise I'll have to copy my save before the final boss.

Chaos ending. Look however much of a dick the Greater Will and the various God's are, I'm not siding with the dudes that live in sewers and scream wildly about burning stuff. Plus apparently nicked the body of my Samurai bro.

I have been working through Millicent's quest anyway but still I'd have preferred a better warning.

You get dropped back into the world after the final boss.

I don’t disagree - I knew of the ending but like you didn’t think merely investigating the thing behind the door, which I found quite by accident, would immediately induct me. Thankfully I’d got further than you so it didn’t mess things up in the same way, and I just finished the quest that can help fix it.

You need to do whatever things are required for the ending you want before fighting the final boss. But once you’ve done it you can still explore the world and go to NG+ whenever you want.

Trying to beat this dragon in the CFA...

Spoiler

Placid? The cheap mf brings out his laser eyes and it's all over. I just tried to help somebody in co-op but they must've been underlevelled because my flasks were knocked down to 7... It wasn't successful anyway.

Edit: I was just summoned again and again 7 flasks. Do you always get nerfed or is it them?

@Broker Damn, does that mean I have to beat the end boss three times?

I am also about level 120 and wondering what to do. Dual welding Colossal Swords I am now at 40 Vitality, 50 Endurance, 60 Strength. Plus soreseal on top.

I don't know whether to keep pumping strength - I know the soft cap is 60, but I still seem to be getting a lot of joy with weapon scaling. The endurance is primarily for poise - I could get more than serviceable defense with much lower weight but I can basically tank my way through most things at this point.

I could push dexterity and try a quality build, but I'd be surprised if it beats Heavy scaling. Or I could push out faith for some variety. Not sure.

Yeah youve got to beat it thrice for the achievements. Apparently you can backup saves so you don't have to play the whole thing again, though i'm not 100% on how that works as I chose to do three playthroughs.

I’m about six hours into this now and just managed to kill the fell omen dude. I’m enjoying it but it’s frustrating how obscure everything is. I’ve had to watch multiple videos just to have a clue what to do, which doesn’t feel like the best way to introduce new players.

It feels like I’ve stumbled into an exclusive members only club and any minute I’m going to be found out and laughed at. I’m currently working out how to use the 99 bone bolts in my crossbow. I can’t work out how to load the buggers. I’ve also just seen a video about how to get a jellyfish because the NPC I was talking to gave me no indication that she had anything more interesting to say.

Also if I read one more Praise the (insert inanimate object here) message I’m going to kill someone.

Do you have Torrent? Rest at the Church of Elleh then speak with the NPC that appears.

There's a slot in the equipment section for your bolts. Two slots at the end of the second row, R1 and R2 once you're holding the crossbow.

Is there an obvious way to get down to the massive beach/desert in east Caelid? It looks like there's a path beneath the eastern Minor Erdtree, but I can't see a way down that won't kill me. I found a skeleton statue pointing to a catacombs down there, so there must be a way...

After a boss. Can't access it before.

And Commander Niall is toast thank fuck. The only reason I went in search of Mogh lol. I knew you got the cookbook for the branches without actually having to defeat him, but I knew I could do him.

For Niall, the branch thing doesn’t really work. They won’t fight him for you cos they’re just two shotted.

But using a branch on the dual wielding add is definitely worth it. Then add a summons, and you’re guaranteed to a.) get rid of the shield dude, and b.) make sure your summons helps you on the boss because it’s not busy trying to solo the adds through the piss curtain that aggro on the run back.

Will heck it out later after mothering duties are done.

Did you not unlock the lift that lets you go straight from castle entrance to the boss fight?   No adds get adhered in the run back that way.
