I think this says it all. I'm loving this and going through it at a guess a snail's pace compared to some. Like a good book I never want it to end.

Judging by the above, I think I know what you deem to be a good book. :D

Finally made it through there Capital and now have to bugger off somewhere else. Jesus.

Definitely nearing had enough now, it's almost too big which seems crazy. Might play something else for a bit and come back to it.

I've been investigating the Capital and have discovered

Spoiler

The Subterranean Shunning Grounds. Oh my god, I. Fucking. LOVE IT!

It's like The Depths, only The Super Depths. And The Depths was possibly my favourite area the first time I played Dark Souls, which was the first time I played any From game. And this is giving me the same feels. Just when I thought I couldn't love this game more.

Mimic is summoned via HP. I think there's another that does this too. A melee build only really needs however much FP you want for skills.

Rune arcs, Oath of Vengeance and talismans and be used to up FP a bit for more summon variety if you don't fancy the levels but obviously won't work if you have to enter the boss door.

And today as grief overcame me on my first day back to work I had to log off and go see mum to sort my head out.

Then came back home and have been exploring Volcano manor properly. Big house isn't it.

Just took down the GN on second attempt and using my mimic summon. He hits hard doesn't he.

I could use a hint on where to head next. I have come across a few boss roadblocks but with my underpowered build, its hard to know when I just need to level up weapons/my character or if I'm just somewhere I'm not really ready for yet.

  Reveal hidden contents

I've just cleared the Prison town at Volcano Manor and roadblocked at the skin noble boss there, I'm not doing enough damage to him. The mobs in the town were manageable though. Likewise I did the whole route up the volcano but had to ride past and skip the star beast boss. Elsewhere I'm not doing enough damage to the Draconic Tree Sentinel guarding the capital entrance. Caelid still seems a bit too high for me with the big mobs there being very scary and having chunky health bars, I've cleared the fire village and pumpkin head dual boss, and done the tunnel leading back to Limgrave but that's about it. I've done the deer boss at Sofria river but yet to explore Ansiel river. Aside from that my only obvious options are the windmill village, a castle that's below the windmill plains in a swamp, and various dungeons/evergaols. Oh, and the portal to the Beastman in the Dragon lands east of Caelid, where the enemy guardiang his building put me off venturing further.

So should I tackle some of these options or just get levelling up and stick with the manor/capital? I have some special weapons at +5 and some normal weapons at +9 to +15. It may be my scaling stats like dex are too low, I think I'm on dex 22 and faith 25, with one of my best weapons being the winged scythe which scales with faith. My damage output is the main issue for the bosses I am stuck on. Cheers!

You're ahead of me north of the map, but I just ventured to Caelid. It's absolutely grotesquely terrifying appearance and death at the erdtree put me off going there, but actually I'm quite overpowered now. Generally you can tell when you're where you're meant to be when you're picking up smithing stones at the current level or plus 1. The mobs here drop level 3 & 4 smithing stones.

Anyone know if the patch fixed the quest involving (NPCs spoiler)

Edgar?  He’s not showing at the Revenger’s Shack after the girl got killed.  And he’s not back at his post at Castle Morne either.

This means I can’t clear the blind girl’s questline either.

Have you been back to his daughter's

Spoiler

Body to find him there? I had to reload once I had discovered her corpse to get him to appear there. That's when he swears revenge, and then after that you should be able to find him at the shack.

Yeah done that.  Have seen multiple folks complaining that they don't encounter him despite apparently meeting the conditions.  I hope it is actually bugged, rather than my not playing the questline right, as it means they should hopefully fix it

You misunderstand. I'm not promoting rushing through the game (I felt like I took my sweet time but I get my enjoyment from strating how to cheese the game rather than I am sword master of medievil times). It is about how someone can be so low level after all the time. Maybe choosing to keep a certain level around PVP? Its 224 hours and level 88 I'm just puzzled and curious!

Radahn is down.  I used Lorettas great bow up his arse but ran out of manna, even with 7 flasks Fortunately, you now seem be able to spawn the summons multiple times so I just kept out of reach and they finished the job on my behalf.  Good times.

Also unnamed wyrm (nice sword) and the general are down.

I guess the hours / level ratio does depend quite a bit on how much you die and how frequently you're successful at then retrieving your lost souls.

My own levelling has tracked weirdly precisely with my hours played. I haven't paid incredibly close attention to it because I don't see the screen that often but, every time I have looked at it, it's been almost exactly the same. Last night, for instance, I was at 93h played at level 93.

The boss fight is a doozy! With my grafted blade sword +9, a talisman that enhances jump attacks and an armour piece that also enhances jump attacks, I've been feeling OP for a while now, smashing bosses that others have been complaining about how difficult they are. But

Spoiler

Mogh

is giving me problems. Feels good!

I'm 58hrs and L85 now.

Just did the boss of the Volcano Manor.  Initially thought I am never doing this thing.

A quick message to my friend who just said

 spoilered boss cheese method

Spoiler

Use the weapon you just picked up and watch his hand press L2 when it's on the floor. Stunlock and repeat.  Is this intentional by the Devs?

Easiest one so far.

i don’t really fast travel anywhere so I imagine that’s going to bloat my hours played vs levelling.

You can get caught inbetween those if you're not careful so not totally risk free but yes its an intentional power play

Spoiler

and an homage to a type of boss fight thats been in souls games since Demons.
