Anyone else with vertigo really enjoying the sensation of your pulse wanting to burst your veins while exploring the rooftops of some of these places?

It's brilliant. Would really like to see From's attempt at a Thief game.

Having a great time with the demi-humans as my summons, levelled them a bit and they're already a wrecking crew. Probably going to take them through the entire game. They're great for aggro/distraction and dealing damage as well as looking cool.

Put some runes into Strength so my Faith guy can wield the Magma Wyrm sword. Really fun and effective weapon. With my Treespear, Holy Falchion and levelled bow I'm pretty happy with my loadout and ready for most situations. Not really used many incantations yet, Fireballs and Poison Cure mainly, as the weapons themselves are so powerful. Really love my build and the versatility of STR/FTH.

Solo'd Rahdan after a few tries and some levelling, great fight, loved it, and now things have really come to life with NPCs and weird shit happening on the map.

120 hours and still love every second of it.

Interesting. Clearly a From ploy to get me to update.

Hmmm. Cheap upgrades vs. un-nerfed Hoarfrost...

They're literally a quarter of the price.  Hoarfrost is still awesome.  And you have to accept, the way it works now is more how they intended.  Just update, you fanny.

The fatigue posts don’t really surprise me. What surprised me was people constantly going “THIS GAME!!” at the start. I really didn’t get the whole amazing feeling about it.

It’s nowhere near as fun, fulfilling or pleasurable to play as Red Dead Redemption 2 for me. Nowhere near. It’s not even as good as Skyrim, because that had a decent storyline (that I could remember), and incredible music.

The music really lets this game down. If we’re meant to potter about the same old abandoned shack and kill the same metal dog in a catacomb over and over, at least put it to some stunning music you never get sick of. Or at least has more than one tenuous note on a violin.

I do enjoy it. But I’m not getting up in the morning and sticking it on through excitement. There aren’t enough “oh, that’s cool/scary/grim/sad” things. The closest thing to an interesting area lately has been the Windmill Village, but there was still a bunch of missed opportunities to explain wtf was going on there and why these mobs were different. I’d hoped for something from the ghost at the start, but it was really obscure.

I think one of the poorer mechanics is the “death is a part of it” mixed with the idea of consumables.
What is the point of dotting tortoises meagrely around the map to create a stamina buff that you rarely have more than a stack of 12 of. Or the flesh buffs. Or any of it. I never bother reaching for it because what’s the point when the game wants you to learn through rinse and repeat?

And having to go into the inventory to use them; because who’s going to priories the pouch or D-pad for them?

When you have a game with the satisfying aspect of picking flowers frequently, it should be pleasurable to craft them into something useful you use often. The idea of using a single rune arc terrifies me as I only have 14 after 80 hours. Which Radahn attempt was I meant to use one for?

Again, I’m enjoying it. But I didn’t have high expectations or think it was amazing off the bat. It comes across to me as the first of something that needs further work.

Rare consumables, combined with the auto-saving, make certain decisions more difficult than they need to be. During my GD attempts I knew that there was an effective status ailment I could use, but my pots, grease and crafting ingredients only give me so many attempts with that knowledge before I have to go and find ingredients for more. Contrast with Bloodborne, where you get hold of a key item and then new stuff is permanently unlocked for sale in the dream, as long as you have the cash.

I like the idea of crafting in theory, but I wonder if there's a way they could streamline things (without making the crafting entirely redundant.)

Bloodborne is absolutely the worst of these games for needing to grind shit if you get stuck on a boss.

So after beating the boss at Leyndell, I've been doing my customary invasions after knowing the area. It's a fun routine: explore, beat boss, jolly japes:

Spoiler

Invasions down in the sewer below are a good laugh. Easy to get funny situations where people get knocked off the pipes etc.

Anyway I warped in near the first grace by all the Oni warriors. The host's golden friend soon got blatted by the warriors, then ran and hid by the grace point so they could summon more. The Oni ran up after him but then got stuck running at the door way, so he crouched in the room trapped, and I slowly walked up to the doorway doing the finger snapping gesture in a tick tock, tick tock rhythm. Then from the door way standing by the Oni I filled the room with eye napalm. I'm such a bastard

Anyone else get softbanned? I couldn't log on when I started my last stream :( @grungekid suggested it could be a weird error after trying to sign in while servers down (same happened to Limmy?) but meh, seems a bit weird as it said I'd done something naughty and couldn't sign in!

Actually my favourite invasion experience was being warped in as a blue angel of vengeance one time:

Spoiler

I was in a big underground bit, and spotted the host and a friend having an epic showdown with a nimble red fucker rolling around and stabbing them, health looking precarious on both sides. A real desperate struggle. So from a distance I locked onto the invader, charged my eye laser, and in one hit blasted that motherfucker.

I ran up and the host dropped to their knees using the "you're beautiful" voice box as I warped away.

I should note none of my MP experiences ever go as well as these two though

I’ve beaten every boss in the game except the final one. Guess which boss I remembered rune arcs were a thing for?

Yeah, might have just been a temp ban for him though. It happened randomly after he killed a dragon if iirc. How long have you been unable to login?

You can buy rune arcs though. And 4k runes isn’t that many once you’ve got to the capital.

The problem is a boss can crush you 20 times without breaking a sweat. So as asked: which attempt are you going to use it for?

Option 2 is you farm them ridiculously easily, and you just pop them like candy - see humanity in Dark Souls.

For somethings like greases - consumable is okay. It's a bit if risk reward but not too rare. The Rune Arc is a mechanic for bearing big bosses. Should have been rolled into the special flask mechanic imo.

? Just co-op to get rune arcs. I've got over 40 and just pop them when needed. That plus being summoned as a hunter. If I've died against a boss I want to try I just wait until I think I've got the moveset down.

Just saw the two big lads on the steps to the capital (I presume). Absolutely battered me, which makes me unsure if I'm meant to be heading that way or back to Caelid.

I haven't used a single Rune Arc, Pot, or Grease of any kind yet. Not touched hardly any of the things that I collect. Crafted a few blood arrows but that's it. I just get the fear that I'm going to waste them.

I really don't like the constant collectable crafting items. I don't use them but get FOMO if I leave anything behind.

Definitely too much inventory/map screens in this.

I decided to use some magic grease the other day, but my INT is so low probably nothing happened. I've only crafted firebombs though, which I use against every plant. Really should craft a beastlure pot next time I want to walk past a bear. Also crafted a whole bunch of bolts. One thing I do like is when someone invades and you just stick them with throwing knives. They never expect it.

In the old games the things like grease didn't scale, they just added a set amount of that damage type to your attacks.  Can be useful if you're in need of exploiting a weakness temporarily and don't have an ash of war.

This was a satisfying conclusion to this morning's stream with Bigboi, after bashing my head against Rennala's second phase a bit, switching spirit summon worked out so freaking well!

Or if you just need MAXIMUM POWAH for any reason. Only normal damage blades can get buffed.

Anyway, I had one coop session for this by if I am at that I'll be playing it literally forever. And regardless of how many you have, one roadblock can burn through them at an astonishing rate. Been there with my thousand blood vials in Bloodborne. I just don't like the mechanic for what it is.
