Yay, I'm stuck in hell with a bunch of Smithing Stones that I can't use and I'm being forced to fight what's basically Ornstein and Smough but without the pillars and my glass-cannon bleed strategy is just completely useless.

Yay!

Respec!

The word 'forced' threw me. I think I rolled up there much later than most as I was fully tooled up with the mimic and did them first go. Thankfully, because those chariots were hell. The buckler parry makes crucible knights a walkover anyway. Heartily recommended.

Much as I like this game, the quest design is often rubbish. The last quest I got was, “go give this dagger to its owner”. No hint as to who the owner might be, nobody I’ve ever met has mentioned missing a dagger and the dagger has no identifying marks to suggest who it might belong to..

I’ve given up and just google them now, I’ve no interest in trekking all over asking every npc if it’s theirs. I don’t think it adds to the mystery or the depth of the world to have quests, with no hints. It’s just tedious.

Productive day today.

Having nosed into the Capital in my last playthrough and getting destroyed by pretty much everything

Spoiler

Seriously, cute little snowmen with trumpets that fire deadly soap bubbles. WTF???????

I decided to give Radahn another go

Spoiler

Took about 8 attempts and I died when he had a sliver of health left. So little that you couldn't see it. Then one of the NPC's whacked him during my death animation and he died :omg:

Headed on down to Nokron and spent the afternoon clearing the place out. Got the item I needed for Ranni's quest and lit all the fires but I think I've got a few things I need to clear up before heading back out as well as the horny head boss

Added some pics here

Still thoroughly enjoying this after 90+ hours. Think I'm only halfway through as well :D

Congrats @pinholestar That would have been the notification I got saying someone in the -/ group became Elden Lord 😎

Malenia finally, finally down! By far the most difficult boss for me, personally (and many others by the sounds of things). May have shouted many expletives. Never really felt unfair, just hard. Her bullshit anime attack was easy to avoid by the end, but her grab and throw was utter bullshit.

That's not true. If you look at the dagger and read through the item description, the fact that it's both silver and gold intertwined is highlighted, which was enough of a clue for me to realise who it belonged to. The hints are often obtuse, definitely, but they're still there.

For that particular quest, just bear in mind what the person who gave it to you said about it, and how it has 'a special place in its owner's heart'...

Anyway, regarding the

sewers beneath

the capital: what a labyrinth of horrors that fucking place is. Jesus. I've opened a load of shortcuts but trying to keep track of all the different paths makes my head spin.

You’ll be down there long enough to figure it out, believe me. They’re fucking massive.

I'm at her now at lv 140 and @imp was not joking! I went through the first bit going oh this isn't so bad and then lol

It's easy to find organically if you speak to people in the most obvious place you would regularly speak to them. But outside of that example a lot of the quest lines are very very vague.

To be honest this game has a lot of people complaining that stuff isn't well directed but you find stuff if you explore of your own volition which is what I thought people have been asking for. So it's either having your hand held and being given obvious clues and directors or you're not told much at all to go explore and discover yourself.

Unfortunately levels won’t help against her much, the returns you get for investing points after 140ish make hardly any difference, it seems so it’s a case of try, try, try, try, try again! What kept me going was knowing she’s meant to be the hardest boss and that people have finished the game at around my level…ONWARDS

It's definitely doable. It's about making sure I don't get stuck in those one hit stunlock/kill scenarios so will take a few attempts I'm. Sure.

Same. Gave up trying as it was a complete waste of time. Just google a questline and follow it now.

Took me 5 attempts. :eyebrows:

I've been tinkering with the Legendary summons characters as an alternative to Mimic, which is still useful depending on your build but i wanna diversify.

Well

Spoiler

Black Knight Tiche

just managed to solo an endgame 'Named' Dragon that was giving me grief due to its massive health pool. Unbelievable scenes! She cost about 150K to get to +10, but that one dragon just paid it back in full.

Guess i'm keeping her.

Ah, last night I found

Spoiler

Tiche, as well as the vendor who sells a few more Legendary summons (at least they're in the same category on the inventory screen as Tiche) but I hadn't bothered with using any of them because my mimic is doing such a good job of being my wingman. Maybe I'll give them a try. Also, I really enjoyed the fight you have to do to get Tiche.

@UziHave you upgraded your shield at all? I didn't really pay much attention to the guard boost on my shield, but every 3 levels you upgrade it, you get an extra point, and having higher guard boost means expending less stamina when blocking. This will make her Final Fantasy wombo combo much more survivable!

Also, are you still on Moonveil or have you gone over to the SoNaF darkside? I figured out a strat with the latter that trivialises the fight, pretty much... Vid in spoiler if you're interested!

I've not got anywhere near the boss you guys are talking about, but is something like Barricade a good option? It makes a small shield a super-greatshield for about 5 seconds, it's an amazing weapon art.
