Is there any way aside from the poisoning cheese thing of getting rid of this Sentinel chappy stopping me getting in the city?

He’s impossible

EDIT. I thought this hoarfrost thing was supposed to be amazing, even after the patch. Seems bloody useless against this guy, even though it’s supposedly a weakness.

Here’s my kill If there’s any tips you can learn from it

@Hexx if I could do that to him I certainly would. I hate these sort of roadblocks.

I do wonder if it’s just time for me to bow out. I’ve almost uninstalled it a few times but the problem is I LOVE this game. I’m just very poo at it :(

One of the worst enemies up to that point. Total prick. I cheesed him with the poison mist and didn't feel bad about it considering he can one shot you with unavoidable attacks. Will the poison mist not work with your stats? It's a boring but effective way of killing him.

How do you get this poison mist then?

There's an Ashes Of War version too, but it doesn't work in this instance. As a headsup, the effect doesn't stack so you can't spam a volley of sprays and expect it to work. I found two sprays, let the numbers build up then stop, repeat until dead. You'll need to allocate all of your flasks to FP.

Took me ages to get into the Capital only to realise that was seriously underlevelled. I suspect you'll find the same. That boss shouldn't have been as tough as we found it.

No, hes right, you've given no indication of what the spoiler is, and then just given the end of his quest away!?! wtf?

you put a spoiler inside the spoiler indicating you are talking about the end of his quest, then people can judge whether they want to open it.

Then don’t open spoilers?

Yeah, whenever I've found myself banging my head against something, I've headed off elsewhere for a few hours. The most frustrating point for me was when I didn't think there were any other places to go, but it turned out there was. Previous areas, catacombs, earlier bosses you skipped. Making sure you've thoroughly rinsed the mines for smithing stones is probably the best bet because levelling your weapon is better than levelling your stats. For stat levelling, invest in some more vigor. It took me a good while before I bothered, but here's a video explaining why it's a good idea.

I'm on the Draconic Tree Sentinel too and have died a few times from his bullshit lightning or whatever it is.  Reading some of the comments here I'm like 'I don't have that!', 'what's this then?'.  I really like this in some ways as it adds to the mystery of the adventure and there's more stuff to explore, but it's also a little frustrating as it gives me minor anxiety that I might miss stuff which I really don't want to happen.  Hmm off to check into some NPC quests perhaps.

do a spoiler right, and own up to what youve done.  You have given far to much without giving warning.  end of, discussion.

It's fun basically one shotting nearly every enemy in the game with two massive hammers.

I think I fucked up some NPC stuff, not that I had a clue what was going anyway, my major gripe with the game is the story tracking.

But I'm going to do a bit more exploring as I'm sure there are some optional big bosses I missed. In fact I'm sure I only saw maybe 70% of what the game has to offer in my 100 hour playthrough.

Also, to those that have finished, how would you rate the difficulty (or annoyances in my case) of the big bosses?

One of the optional encounters:

Hardest in the last 13 years of FS bosses. Mainly because the boss hits like a fucking truck, but is also faster than me getting into Gregg's on a morning.

I’m regards to the “it’s just Dark Souls 4” stuff, I think it’s mostly got a new name to untether it from the DS lore where they want to. There’s similar stuff, but they don’t have to use anything from DS, and there’s not endless questions about how it ties to the other games. It reminds me of the other Miyazaki, sure Castle in the Sky could be called Nausicaa 2, it could be set in the same world. It would make marketing easier. But it ties you to everything you’ve already established and you have to worry about the existing rules that you’ve set up. Plus DS3 ends at literally the end of time, they’ve written themselves into a bit of a corner there.

ER can take whatever it wants from previous games, but it doesn’t have to take anything.

and yeah you will absolutely have missed story stuff, thats how it is with these! we play through first without knowing, then, we learn! and suddenly youre blitzing through the games nailing npcs left right and centre! ...i know what i said.

Lol dude.  Just accept you could've done a better job.   I've met that character a few times, I haven't even opened the spoiler, but you literally gave no indication of what you're even going to be talking about in the spoiler.

Just irks me.

You may as well just go

Except, it doesnt have a name, or a boss bar, but you have to beat it, and the fight is in a terrible location, to get to the next and final part of an NPC quest (below).

Spoiler

Millicent

Then after you beat it you have to go help the NPC!...in a ridiculous fight too lol

Saddens me to say it but I’m in agreement with those who feel that the game takes a dive in quality after the Capital.

Everything up to and including that is astonishing and right up there with the all-time greats. There aren’t words to describe what an incredible experience I found it, and every single one of the 150-odd hours I spent scouring its wonders and delights was pure joy. But then you’re just met with a series of areas that are either total slogs full of cheap, annoying bullshit or are notably lacking in the quality and engaging design that embodies the first 75% of the game or so.

Spoilers for all endgame areas post-Capital:

Spoiler

Mountaintops of the Giants isn’t bad per se, but that sense of wondrous exploration that was so invigorating and joyous up to that point is curtailed quite sharply as you make your ascent on a fairly linear path. It felt like a notable step down from what had come before.

Crumbling Farum is visually extraordinary no doubt, but I found it a right slog to play and was glad to be finally out of there.

The section leading to the Haligtree making your way through the endless fog was just annoying, and then you’re met with Ordina, Liturgucal Town which is just unforgivably crap and not remotely fun at all. A real low point of the game and I have no idea what the hell they were thinking here.

And then the Haligtree itself isn’t much better. I’ve never really liked those areas in Souls games that consist of precarious walkways and jumps peppered with irritating enemies that hammer you at range from all directions and this typifies that approach.

Even playing as a mega-sorcerer build as I am, which feels like the safest and most risk-averse method that gives you plenty of options to pick off enemies at distance, it’s still a tedious slog.

Significant sections of the last quarter of the game feel like the worst aspects of DS2 design writ large to me, and that’s in no way a compliment. Way too much overtuned artificial difficulty that simply isn’t fun. It’s a real shame.

Taken as a whole it’s still an all-timer, don’t get me wrong, and it’s not as sharp a drop in quality as seen in DS1 post-Izalith etc. but it has slightly soured the experience for me, I can’t deny it.

I find myself wondering how many of the reviewers made it to these end sections of the game within the allotted time, and whether that would have perhaps tempered a few of the 10/10 GOAT scores. It sets such an absurdly high bar for itself for the majority of its truly vast span that it was perhaps asking too much for it to stick the landing on the same level.

Well I decided to leave Tunic alone this avo and decided to revisit a few areas. Mopping up Evergoals and the like.

Then through mere accident I found the alternative route to Altus Plateau and what a journey that was.

This bloody game,  I love how it rewards you for properly exploring.
