People who put messages next to the boss door should be shot. I don't mean in front of the boss door with handy information, I mean literally on the boss door where I want to quickly switch to a seal to cast Golden Vow, but instead it switches action.

Same for the bottom of ladders when I’m trying to run away!

Making it into a bleed weapon adds arcane scaling on the bleed buildup.

Are you sure? I was going to do that but checked on here:

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Arcane

and it says:

“Bleed, poison etc.. do not scale with arcane. Testing Required.

Some weapons do scale with arcane (including those made occult with ashes), but only the AR is affected, not it's effects.”

which put me off

If you've got red square it's health debuff you got from unprotected hugging :(

How do I get rid of this? That woman said she’d give me an item if I hugged her, but I’ve no idea what, and when I hug her again she says something like “Oh no, you’ve still got the item so I can’t give you another”.

Taking a break from the GD and I've ended up pushing Strength (along with Vigor and Endurance) to 40, so that Grafted Blade Greatsword can potentially be one handed if I don't mind a puny light shield. Keen to drop some stones into that, as the attack power already seemed decent before any upgrades...

I'm really surprised people aren't enjoying this area, I thought it was one of the best! An incredible amount to explore in all directions, jaw-dropping art and some of the coolest encounters in the game. What didn't you like about it?

Spoiler

Why was I there? What is it? Where is it? Even for a From game the set up for it was poor (you get some answers towards the end) but I'd been paying attention to the story as best I could (and thought I had a pretty good handle) and was left cold thematically by it.

It's visually striking at the start - but then all very samey while you run through it. Easy to get lost/no sense of place/progression. Jumping sections.

Lots of side routes - to items I absolutely didn't need at this point in the game. Didn't feel like I was exploring, more being mislead. e.g. I went behind a Stonesword key door...For a Great Seed. Which I can't use. (Side note: do like there are more than you need in the game)

Boring bosses - Dragons and repeated/duo-ed boss (until the end)

Enemies hit hard, but poor reward. I didn't need to level up - but they dropped about half the runes as other areas I'd been. Risk/reward felt off.

Tbh I adored the game but felt everything after the Capital was downhill (not to say bad just past the peak). The areas, while striking, are less interesting. (HT is great but the CS ground before it was...empty). Plus I'd mostly got all the skills/gear/etc I wanted and levelling was fairly pointless. So less interesting exploration/world building and limited sense of progression.

I spent 100 hours on my playthrough and this might be the best game, but I think an 80 hour one would have been even stronger. (Which is a really odd complaint)

Edit - Part of the might be "my fault" I did everything I could in all the areas (and side quests) you can get to before going to the Capital. If I'd gone there earlier the pacing might have felt different. But as it was everything post it felt a bit empty

Hmm, curious as to whether any STR builds have tackled Preceptor Miriam at the Study Hall yet.

Spoiler

Quite enjoyed the general premise of a running battle all the way up the tower, up until the final phase where the game literally wont allow you to close distance, ever. Had to resort to lobbing a bunch of kukri blades that had been sat at the bottom of my inventory all game, but even then it was a bit fiddly. Almost had me thinking there was supposed to be a puzzle element with the rafters tbh.

I managed to find one point to the left of the door you come through, at the first corner, where she would turn her back for a second and you could bomb along quickly and just get a hit in.

Spoiler

I'm using a str melee build and didn't have much of a problem with her. What I did was start sprinting at her when she started casting the big magic spear spell, roll through it, continue sprinting and twat her. Then she'll teleport away. Do it again.

I did use kukris to deal with the other jobber enemies, but once I'd cleared those out I used the sprint and roll strat.

It's just stupid. Seems a waste of time. I started out equipping items of armour and talismans to counteract the status effect. Non of them seemed to make much of a difference.

In the end I just brute forced it with health potions and a spell to remove the status effect.

Each time a just explored a different area and when my supplies were down I just warped back to the site of grace.

The bit just after, Jesus Christ, there coming out of the god damn walls...

I can't wait for this to be over so I can back to trundling round on my go go and not crying non stop 🤣

For anyone on a strength build, I’ve discovered that +7 wolf summons combined with bloody slash on a heavy long sword +20 is insanely powerful. It seems to completely destroy any of the minibosses - the downside to bloody slash is it takes time to use, but the wolves do a wonderful job as a distraction and you can basically spam L2 and win easily. It does feel a bit cheap, but if you are stuck it might help.

Just the Uchi I started with.

Probably my favourite weapons across the Souls series, doesn't have the highest damage but hits so fast and takes such little stamina that it's a monster. The jump R2 in this has a load of stagger too.

Nice, congrats! I got a biiiit annoyed with him yesterday and gave up. Was this on stream?

No, I was actually on the phone and it was extremely anticlimactic lol. I was so done by then I wasn’t even happy.

So Radahn made me go full Glass Cannon. Took some massive detours to grab some proper good equipment (Radahn forced my hand, the prick). I uttered "Fuck off cunt" when he died, what a stupid fight. Did not even feel accomplished or proud.

Same. It got tedious as hell for me. I wish it had been an optional boss because of all the different methods there were to killing him. Would have been more fun.
Having to get through him just sapped my desire to play. And games get like that sometimes, but normally there’s a big triumph and whizz of energy after. And I just didn’t get it here.

Not enjoyable for the average gamer unless you’ve overlevelled a bit I think.

Surely only use that as a very last resort! @pinholestar

If that’s about the scarlet rot, then I don’t think so. I wish I’d paid more attention to the cinematic about him.
People have pointed out it specifically says it does him in, so I think the intelligent way to get him down is to use it. Not thirty attempts at meleeing him and almost doing it a bunch of times. Looking back that was just stupid of me.

I climbed up a ladder, ran over the rafters, jumped over the rats and dropped down and plunged my sword into her stupid face. Clear out all the ghosts first though

You absolutely have to rush her and smash her in with a blunt weapon. They do loads more damage to her than a sword.

Pottering about the plateau now. My switch to being able to use rotting breath has left me with enough magic to be able to cleanse myself from poison and scarlet rot. So even though I had to leach 5 or so points from my STR/DEX build, it’s actually made me cheer up a little about heading into Caelid. I can’t abide having to rely on consumables for just casual gameplay around the map. The odd big lad, yes. But not just walking around. So it’s not too bad.

Cleared out the delightful Windmill Village. The women sound like fucking ducks when they sing.

@NexivRed I hate to tell you this, but Radahn is optional.

I don’t know how else you’re meant to progress with the Ranni quest. Unless you mean because that’s optional as well. Which means everything is optional other than the 30 minute long speed rush to “complete” the game.

Being bunged in the middle of a cool quest line rather than just someone you can rock up to as and when and if you want is what I meant.

Are you trying to antagonise me or something?
