Genuinely feel at a loose end now this is ‘done’

In Dark Souls 3 I couldn't get enough, so for weeks I just helped out in jolly co-op and doing silly invasions. Although I love Souls games I've never replayed one yet (unless you count Demon's remake). I get my fun out of just utterly rinsing a playthrough, re-exploring everywhere, piecing together all the lore and doing lots of multiplayer.

Was just about to upgrade my Greatsword to max level but I'm hearing there is a bug at +25 that actually makes your weapon weaker.

Will need to check it out.

Also, how the hell do I get to these sections in the underground river? I have scouted every inch to try and get to them but they are all blocked off. I have beat the area boss and got the south side all checked.

Question about the lift.

Spoiler

I only have one half of the pendant (not the Mordor half). Where did I get it? Was it a story boss reward?

I've finally been doing some levelling up over the past few sessions mainly because I end up with like 10-15k runes from exploring or bosses, and don't have anything else to spend it on! I'm level 57 or 58 now, although I've spread it out across lots of stats so I'm still pretty puny. Because I'm doing Faith + melee, I've been dropping points in Faith, Mind, and even Arcane (to get dragon related spells). I even want to put some points into Int at some point just to get access to some low level spells like holy weapon buff.

Managed to do the manor last night but also uncovered juicy tidbits about future areas in the game. Excited!

Had my first session in almost a week last night. I left the game last week at

Spoiler

the Fire Giant fight. Continued from there and had about ten attempts with me performing very badly, only got him to phase two once. Decided to take a break from that fight and went exploring the early zones. Found a couple of new caves/dungeons and rinsed them. Went to the castle in Caelid and found a boss door where you enter the market place. Got attacked by two bosses, the Morne Castle boss and the Cruicible Knight, the latter a boss I never found when exploring Stormveil the first time. They both went down quite easily and reminded me that I had to seek out CK in Stormveil. Found him and he went down with three swings of my Bloodhounds Fang.
Went back to the Fire Giant and killed him on my first attempt, but I think I cheesed the fight. In phase two I accidentally fell down a ledge to a lower plateau. When trying to find a way up to the boss he fell down the same ledge and died, he basically lost his entire HP bar from the fall. Dead tired and done for the evning I pushed on to see where the next part of the game took me, I ended up in a place with loads of tornadoes and enemies that could easilly kill me so now I'm excited for my next session.

I'm really in love with this game and I'm a bit affraid that other games won't seem as good after this.

So Radahn made me go full Glass Cannon. Took some massive detours to grab some proper good equipment (Radahn forced my hand, the prick). I uttered "Fuck off cunt" when he died, what a stupid fight. Did not even feel accomplished or proud.

Radahn is the first boss in any From game where I felt that summoning was the correct way of playing. It just feels so epic. His health bar getting boosted means it doesn't feel like you're cheating, and it probably took me ten attempts with a group of three. Loved them all.

10 attempts seems nuts to me. I've seen the 2nd phase once in about 20 attempts. What level are you? Did you keep your distance and try ranged stuff, or get up in his face horse?

My first question would be what your VIT is. Mine was 35-40. Level about 65 I think. I wouldn’t recommend much lower than that.

Vast majority of my damage was medium-distance glintstone spells. The other two pulled their weight, too.

Got to the second phase probably half the time, I'd suggest if you're not getting there consistently then you need to be a higher level.

If as a team of three you are struggling, come back later. The higher your level, the higher the level of your summons.

If you're still struggling, have you tried the following?

That method absolutely melted him for me and it seemed to do the trick for others as well. Worth a shot.

I'm level 69 but my VIT/VIG is only 25. As a team of 7 we we're struggling :D.

Ah cheers yeah.. interesting. I'd rather not cheese him unless I have to honestly. Good to know it's there as a last resort though.

Thanks sir. I've now managed to get the Uchi and the Twinblade. Haven't tried the Uchi yet but the twinblade is great fun

I'm a bit gutted - i got to the boss but used my summon without thinking. They destroyed him quickly. He looked like he would've been great fun to duel too. Ah well, NG soon enough!

I'm probably well below you in terms of level and I absolutely mashed him before he could do anything, so I suspect it might not have been much fun for you even without summons.

Level 73 from a few hours this morning.

Finally remembered I had both parts of the medallion that activates the lift so have been exploring the Altus plateau and the Windmill village. Did the miniboss there first attempt.

No idea where I'm going now last demigod I beat was Rennala and started Rannis quest but can never find Blaidd underground.

Help.

There are two ways to get there: the 'proper' way

(getting two halves of a medallion to activate the grand lift of dectus)

or going via

ruin-strewn precipice, which you find by running up the river in the north of Liurnia, which is how I got there

Edit: my hints are much less vague than @Hexx so i shall spoiler them!

Typically, between posting the question and reading the answer, I’d discovered the place in your second spoiler!

Made my way up and through the caves, only to be faced by the

magma wyrm!

No idea how I managed that without my horse but after 4 or 5 attempts I managed to beat it. Such a sense of relief after dying repeatedly with it on a sliver of health!

Onwards!

I found Patches so much later than I should in this that I accidentally murdered him. Oops.

He nearly killed me when i met him - i had a sliver of health left. I would've had to log off from Soulsborne games in shame forever.

Don't get me wrong, I still have nightmares about doing Dancer of the Boreal Valley at SL1 back in the day...

I have said this before elsewhere, but for me, beating Dancer at SL1 was my of my best experiences in gaming, let alone in a Souls game.

Everything about it is beautiful - the setting, the music, the way the Dancer walks.

It took me hundreds of goes to beat her, the rest of the game is a relative breeze after that.

Beating her just required concentration and practice. Every single move is telegraphed and every single move can be avoided. The difficulty comes when the attacks are chained together, fast, and in different sequences. Oh and the fact that 90% of them are one hit kills!

It was a real zen type experience.

The only other boss that came close for me was Champion Gundyr in Dark Souls 3. Good luck trying to beat him by fighting toe to toe at SL1. But you can absolutely demolish him by parrying his hits and shanking him with a dagger. That was also an amazing fight, and by the time I beat him, I didnt get hit and he only attacked 4 or 5 times and I parried all of them. Again, just takes a bit of practice and lots of concentration!

Productive day yesterday.

Met an invisible boss, died, snatched a key from a dragon, opened a huge gate and immediately transported myself to yet another new location, died, met a friend of a friend who sells useful upgrade mats, ignored his advice, entered (fled into) a Manor, died, got lost, went back and smacked Casper, finally met up with Patches again, got lost again, died, found a lady that wants to be my spirit summon, discovered a huge crystal cave, died.

Opened up a part of the map that's roughly similar in size of what i had uncovered in the weeks prior in a single session. Absolutely exhausted.
