I just did that area the other night and I don't think there's anything else there, I thoroughly explored it all. There is another boss to find though, you'll need to try one of the teleporters, who I gave up on, but he's not guarding any kind of onward path from what I can see. There's also a secret bit where you can see across the void and a character on a bridge, but it looks like you must access that side from somewhere else, and if you look at the map it looks like there's another section over there, so I'm guessing in Caelid or something there's another well that goes over that side.

The other teleporters apart from the one that goes to the other boss are just shortcuts to hop around the area.

Cheers. Which is the one that teleports you to the other boss, the first, second or third farthest from the steps that lead to the

Spoiler

Deer spirit boss?

And I saw that guy you mentioned at the end of the bridge (looks like another

Spoiler

Crucible Knight, which I'm not looking forward to). But yes: I can't see a way over to it so I guess you have to get there from elsewhere.

The area as a whole seems wrapped up with Ranni's questline, so maybe more will be revealed the more you progress with that.

Stormveil makes Castle Morne look tiny. I’m at the bonfire in the main castle, at the top of a tower with two shortcut elevators that I can’t activate and there’s so many directions I can go off to explore in that it’s a little overwhelming. I found another bonfire by rolling off the rooftops and ending up at a place with an enormous lion with a blade on its forearm.

Just wait till you get to some of the later legacy dungeons! One of them is so freaking massive that it has a second legacy dungeon underneath it and in that is a catacomb dungeon. Three for the price of one!

And done, Platinum trophy achieved

Best Souls game, easily 10/10

If anyone wants any help on PS5 or PS4 as I think you can crossplay between them let me know

Will be going into NG+ tomorrow probably, unless I start a new character

Just hope that there will be DLC for it, although they would be fools not too

Easily going to be my GotY

Reached Radahn on Friday night.

Spoiler

Got summoned to see what was in store, and breezed through.  Looked a right laugh.

Cue two days of bouncing off him, getting one-shot was no fun.  I think my melee-only build was to blame, or the fact I can’t find enough shards to level my bow up past +4(?).

Eventually picked up the Rot spell for an easy win.  Not proud but sod learning that fight.  It’s like my version of the game plays differently to every ‘Let’s Play’ on YouTube

Anyway, that’s done with now and lots more enjoyable adventures await.  Still loving it

I don't really see why there's so much Radahn hate, he's not that bad. I'd agree the first bit is annoying, but once you get up close, he's a perfectly fine boss fight. And his

Spoiler

tiny horse

is lolz.

You're both wrong. There's a bit more there.

Have to basically give it away but

Spoiler

Look for a waygate on top of a crumbled pillar, IIRC near the mid point of grace.

It takes you "up" to another area for tasty loot and a world boss...the dragonkin soldier

Started my way through the academy - so lost! Starting to regret my melee focus, what I would give for some decent range to stave of the burger kings.

Still love it, though.

As encouragement, I went through as pure melee (maybe around level 45-50?) and it was alright. Took some patience at times waiting to get the kings on their own but it was fine.

You can only be invaded if you are actively trying to summon people, so if you have used the Furlcalling Finger Remedy and it has the icon shown. Then you can be invaded.

There are also NPC invaders too

Yeh, I was summoning but thought for some reason you couldn't be invaded unless certain criteria but obviously not. Happening more and more as players get to grips with it all suppose.

Encouragement appreciated! I’m a similar level and it does seem do-able. Just gotta keep at it!

The level design in (Altus Plateau legacy dungeon spoiler)

After 140 hours I begin to wonder whether the game could have anything else up its sleeve to wow me with, and Miyazaki just calmly smiles and loads a bullet of sheer fucking awesomeness into his game design gun and blasts it right through the centre of your brain. Unbelievable.

And it does this again and again and again throughout the game. IMO the overall quantity of quality level design is the highest of any From game, and much of it up there with the Undead Burg.

I think this is the

Spoiler

Boss

@Alan Stock mentioned. I'll check it out in a bit.

I've already fought a

Spoiler

Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella already, though, so unless it's a different one then it's going to take me to the Ainsel River, which is where I've already been. I'll see!

Also, in other news, Seluvis is a grade A wanker.

I am a bit unimpressed by my sorcery spells so far though, anything I should be aiming for? Mostly I still use rocks and pebble. My faith guy had a rot spell that was great, is there similar for mages?

Nothing beats pebble for dps.  Homing stars has its uses, as does cometshard if there is time.  Starlight is great.  I've also got spells which add cold or magic to weapons but I'm not sure if these are better than weapon ashes .  All a bit chilly.  Faith builds look more sexy.

Breaking the habit of a Dex’n’Rolling lifetime I went all out with a sorcery approach this time round and I’m really glad I did.

Sorcery initially seems a little one-note and dull as you find yourself inevitably relying on Pebble 90% of the time, but if you really make an effort to explore every nook and cranny of the world you’ll end up with a formidable magical arsenal.

The thing with a sorcery build is that I think more than any other it’s contingent upon you really exploring the world and building up a large variety of spells. Whereas with a strength build you can find one decent weapon and then you’re pretty much set for the entire game, with sorcery you need to hunt down all the magical goodies hidden away in mini-dungeons and held by optional bosses in order to really make the most of it.

If you haven’t been there already then, as the name suggests, Sellia, Town of Sorcery in Caelid should be a priority as it’s home to the best INT & Sorcery-scaling staff in the game. Caria Manor in the north-west of Liurnia is home to one of the hardest hitting, longest range and absolutely essential sorceries too. Those will get you started but there’s some crazy sorcerous shit to be found out there.

I’m 150 hours deep now and the game is so incomprehensibly vast that I can’t remember off the top of my head where all the best sorceries are located, but having diligently cleared every point of interest on the map prior to the legacy dungeon in Altus Plateau, I now have over 50 spells to choose from and they cover pretty much every eventuality. Mega-beams of death, close and far-range AoE annihilators, cunning backstabbing shards to handily deal with shield-bearers, retaliatory defensive magical shields of your own, enemy sorcery nullifiers, invisible weapons, magma bombs, summons on tap and a whole load more.

When you’re all juiced up there’s no denying that sorcery is incredibly powerful and if you stick with it it’ll pay off handsomely. 🧙‍♂️

Been going round mopping up bosses, quests and catacombs I’d skipped whilst barrelling through a zone. Lots of repetition of bosses as you go, but still fun nonetheless. Had one catacomb which had 3 crystal fella bosses at once.

Areas I’ve completely cleared of all bosses:

Spoiler

Limgrave

Weeping Peninsula

Liurnia

Mt Gelmir

Altus Plateau

Siofra River

Ainsel River

Lake of Rot

Deeproot Depths

Quest chains I’ve completed:

Fia

Ranni

Boc

Sellen

Gowry

Millicent

Rogier

D

Volcano Manor assassination contracts

Roderika

Hewg

White-faced Varre

Gurranq

Got into Altus Plateau and started making my way up Mt Gelmir but I'm feeling a bit too weak for this area. The enemies in and of themselves aren't difficult in terms of attack patterns but it feels too much like I'm slowly chipping away at them, especially the larger ones like the dragon or bear, while they can kill me in two hits. Might abandon this path for now and look elsewhere.

So I'm not very far in to this, and I didn't get very far in Dark Souls, but it seems to me this is a game about trying to coax other people in to jumping down holes with cunningly worded messages, but one of those holes has the game's tutorial in it?

Haha. I actually skipped the tutorial accidentally because I didn't trust the game when it told me to jump down into a pit :)

I have read some articles describing

Spoiler

Altus Plateau

As a late game area, but I've only been playing for around 40 hours and I also understand that roughly

100

Hours is an average first playthrough. So ... Even though I can get there (or at least to a part of it, by going

Up the great Dectus lift

Should I not really be going there yet? Is there another direction I should explore first?

Is there a significance to the man-bat thing in Weeping Peninsula that sings that haunting tune? I just whacked it with my sword and that seemed to be about it.

Theyrelike the head bat. You can find me them in South limgrave singing their songs. I found it incredibly moving when I found them in limgrave. Still killed it though. Ashen one is bad.
