For some reason on the online parts don't seem to work at all for me. I can't see any bloodstains or messages anywhere around the world, and I feel like I'm missing out on a big part of the experience. I'm on a Series X, ISP is Hyperoptic and connected by wifi. Any ideas why?

I gave up on those.

I met my serial killer buddy (really I've got to stop doing NPC sidequest out of FOMO) and then noped out of there.

I didn't know why I was there and not pleasant enough to stick around

Christ, how big are the sewers beneath the capital? I’ve been in there for hours!

They're big, but also confusing in places so you may be wandering in circles while you're in the pipes or corridors. You could probably run it pretty fast if you know where you're going, but I spent ages wandering around because...

Spoiler

...I didn't want to drop down a hole, which is the only way forward.

Yeah i literally just found and beat the boss after I posted that

I found a catacombs dungeon down there (I mean, that’s how big the sewers are, there’s a dungeon in the dungeon) that was really cheeky

Spoiler

You run through the same rooms three times but then you realise…it’s not the same room: it’s three copies of the same room one on top of the other to try and catch you out

I did that catacomb and...

Spoiler

I thought it was moving rooms around rather than just repeating. There's a fake boss door as well that's just open instead of requiring a lever...

I had a few suicide runs around the sewers but I couldn't find the dung eater, only imps, lobsters, slugs, another one of those grafted tutorial bosses, and death.

That item serves a more practical purpose as well.

I consider that purpose to be practical. Behold:

Before:

Spoiler

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

After:

Spoiler

?imw=5000&imh=5000

"Now stay away from my house."

Rennala down! First time too, but I think I was somewhat over-levelled. I believe I now have the option to respec, and would like to take advantage of other weapons and perhaps spells, but I'm conscious that I have got my Lordsworn's Greatsword to +17 and would not like to lose the damage that does.  What should I change from below, and how often can I respec?

He wasn’t for me. Must not have done something to trigger it. He’s still at Roundtable grumbling like a prick.

Thats the same sword I use, I have it at +19 and using anything else at this point in the game is...well...pointless.

Edit: damn your Right arm power is much higher than mine even though I'm level 115 and have much higher stats. How?

That's his spirit/invasion form isn't it? He tells you to go find his corporeal form in the sewers.

I ran past a huge poison plant (and the deathblight basilisks), but couldn't find a way to safely drop down and didn't see a ladder. Confusing.

I was wondering that yesterday actually.

I am still at the start of the academy rather than the end, but have been finding a lot more magics on the map and also have a decent stock of....er, other stuff (incantations or whatever the fuck theyre called) and was wondering if there are any ways to round out an STR build with a bit of basic utility from anything else.

Happy just stabbing things up if not, just making sure I'm not leaving gains on the table, so to speak.

With the ashes of war I have set it to heavy, which scales with your strength stat, and strength is my highest stat. I'm considering putting the points needed into strength and just using Godrick's sword (needs 40 str).

So I'm not very far in to this, and I didn't get very far in Dark Souls, but it seems to me this is a game about trying to coax other people in to jumping down holes with cunningly worded messages, but one of those holes has the game's tutorial in it?

You need an item - Larvreal Tear.

You should have one near the boss. Others you find in the world/vendors.

There's one location later on that has them all over the shop.

I'm at 10+ although I've never used one

I took a random detour into Caelid just to have a change of scenery and came across a "Colossal Sword" type weapon that I can actually wield with my stats, so I did more detouring and bumped it to +14. (Also I was hanging on to bell bearings that unlocked better smithing stones and I didn't realise  )

So now I've got big slow swings that do decent damage - and with the right armour and shield I can keep my good roll. I probably won't abandon my previous favourite weapon as it'll be nice to have the option, but my character is actually benefiting from those Strength points again, so yay.

Caelid is like the land of bountiful plenty. I found a somber stone 8 and 9 there, just lying about the place. My int/dex guy is now rocking a +9 moonveil and off to the capital.

I am a bit unimpressed by my sorcery spells so far though, anything I should be aiming for? Mostly I still use rocks and pebble. My faith guy had a rot spell that was great, is there similar for mages?

Siofra River question:

Spoiler

I lit the eight fires and killed the boss (what a majestic fight that was - gorgeous music), but nothing seems to have changed. Is that it for this area? I've got all the items and unlocked the lift that brings you back out in Caelid, but there doesn't seem to be a way forwards. There are three warp gates I haven't tried yet, though.

Blaidd is also here but he's not doing anything and just says about how we need to find a way to Nokron. He mentioned going back to Seluvis, so I'll try that I guess.

Nothing beats pebble for dps.  Homing stars has its uses, as does cometshard if there is time.  Starlight is great.  I've also got spells which add cold or magic to weapons but I'm not sure if these are better than weapon ashes .  All a bit chilly.  Faith builds look more sexy.

I just did that area the other night and I don't think there's anything else there, I thoroughly explored it all. There is another boss to find though, you'll need to try one of the teleporters, who I gave up on, but he's not guarding any kind of onward path from what I can see. There's also a secret bit where you can see across the void and a character on a bridge, but it looks like you must access that side from somewhere else, and if you look at the map it looks like there's another section over there, so I'm guessing in Caelid or something there's another well that goes over that side.

The other teleporters apart from the one that goes to the other boss are just shortcuts to hop around the area.
