Yep. 100 hours is practically a speedrun. This is a game to be savoured, obsessed over and lived in, there's no rush or reason to race to the end. And what are you going to play when you eventually do complete it? Assassin's Creed? God of War? Halo Infinite? Everything else is completely irrelevant after this game. I can't even imagine going back to dumbed down, patronising shit like Far Cry or Dying Light after this.

I’m 85 hours in and near the end, though I’ve played every game in the series multiple times and am very comfortable with the combat, I’ve only gotten stuck on one or two bosses so far.

When I’m finished I’m going to play this again, try out a magic build and try out some of the stuff I couldn’t use this playthrough.

Nice to hear someone is getting through it at a similar pace to me :) I'm ~60 hours and I'm at the Academy but not really very far into it. I've spent a lot of time going back over Limgrave and Stormveil trying to figure stuff out & find as much as I can. And I'm sure I've still missed plenty. I've only just realised in the past couple of days that this might take me 150 hours or more. Quite a daunting prospect! I don't play games with that kind of play time very much at all. I've got friends who only get half an hour or an hour to themselves each evening and are playing through - can't imagine tackling it like that!

I've hit 30 hrs and haven't gone into Stormveil yet. Still plenty to do before that by the look of things.

Something fucking cool today. I won’t say anything spoilery.

Decided I was strong enough to try the tosser after the Albinauric village again, and through my own curiosity, happened to find an obscure NPC up there!

Got an important item from them, and then was looking at the map confused why I couldn’t get to random buildings seemingly nearby.

Decided to try and reach the areas through a different approach, and entered some nearby caves that a golden candelabra dude had led me to, and it exits somewhere different. And low and behold my previously found item has an instant meaning.

This is normally the kind of shit I have to Google. But I found it all by chance as the game intended! Tres cool.

I think something glitched in the volcano area for me.

Spoiler

I'm outside what I presume is the Godskin Noble boss battle because the boss HP bar has appeared and the music is going wild. But I'm still outside. Wandering off and resting at a bonfire hasn't fixed it.

I'm glad I found somewhere where I can comfortably kill the enemies at least. The capital and beyond was getting me down.

35 hours on the clock here.  Done most of the stuff to do in the first part of Limgrave and the Peninnsula (but not all), and am now partway through Stormveil Castle.  Haven't done more than a quick poke around the lakes and a mad run through Caelid, and not properly explored all of eastern Limgrave.

At 85 hours I have “fully” explored quite a few areas, though I’m sure I’ve missed stuff. But I’ve been to all the points of interest I can see and killed all the enemies. I think I’ve cleared out 12 large areas and done 8 or 9 legacy dungeons. Still finding new stuff.

That boss in Albinauric Village is rough. It's annoying as he feels like he should be easy, but he hits like a truck. Good to know there is more to explore there, but can you give me a hint? I've crossed the bridge but it seems a dead end...

Spoiler

Before you cross the bridge to the boss, go swing your weapon about in the corner where you killed the fire breathing.

I love just bimbling about trying to solve quests and find sexy new danger in this, I'm like the Vicar of Dibbly meets David Carradine, wandering....
I'm only buying one game this year, this one is my "Joker" and I can see it lasting me just fine (plus some backlog naturally)

Yep. Haven’t got stuck on any bosses yet, 63 hours in, level 111 and messing about in the snow area I can’t remember the name of. Definitely going to be going magic next game.

I'm finding the sheer openness of the game a bit overwhelming, to be honest. It reminds me a bit of old RPGs like Ultima, Rings of Power or the Faery Tale Adventure,

Remember getting that for the Amiga and thinking, how have they done this?

Sameish, 50 hours and I’m at the academy. I did clear Sofria early on though. It seemed a bit hard. Apparently I shouldn’t really have gone there yet.

Elden Ring 2 of course.

Nah. You know when Nintendo are like "Seriously we perfected the formula in the last one, what the hell else do you want?". That's this for Souls. There's no way to top it.

You can vary the formula a la Bloodborne or Sekiro. But straight up Souls, we're done for a decade until technology opens new possibilities.

There'll be DLC for this though, which is mind boggling.

Nearly smashed Godrick on my second try, quite pleased with that.

Beat him on my third try. Oh yeah!

My summon and the NPC both survived too.

Spent a bit of time exploring the castle properly, killed some big things and nearly jumped out of my skin when something very big (with a knife) jumped out after clearing out a whole load of guards. Moved fast, hit hard, but telegraphs it's attacks so I'll get it next time. Nearly got it first time but wimped out and ran to a safe spot to save them runes.

Onwards!

Stomp, stomp, stomp!

The AoW is so OP. It's now carried me through the bosses at the Capitol and a boss at the Hot Manor.

I barely use my weapon in the fights, my summon is the distraction and I stomp like a coward from the rear.

I guess it helps that my weapon is +17 and the stomp scales with the weapon level.

I'm hoping it will have great success with an oversize boss on a tiny mount as other people have suggested.

And it'll be so easy to integrate: sub-level areas via lifts or warp miles by transporter chests.

No rush though. Plenty here to consume!

Bloodborne 2 in this style would be *chef’s kiss*

Thematically, Bloodborne is my favourite but for some reason I just repeatedly bounced off the actual game.

That's what I was about to write.

Eldenborne next please, From.

Don't worry I'll wait.

Has anyone had any trouble getting the mechanics of the main academy boss to start? I tried to co-op with two friends tonight to help take them down but the mechanics in phase 1 don't actually start. Spoilered

Spoiler

She doesn't have a shield and none of the ladies on the ground start singing. So you can't actually progress. I've co-oped with that boss before multiple times so I know it works

Seem to have hit a glitch now. Fought a boss and died a couple of times. It gives me the option of going back to the Stake of Marika just outside the boss door. I select it but it puts me back to the Grace Point at the start of the dungeon instead and it has an annoying run back.

Now getting towards the 3rd Dungeon. Does the game get significantly harder at some point? I’m not using the Ashes of War, Summons, Psykik Flask thing, or any of the other new stuff, yet it still seems quite easy so far. Certainly far easier than the other games.

A few of us have reached a boss that’s hard. Harder than any other fromsoft boss I’ve ever encountered I think.

Spoiler

The dude on the battlefield? I cannot beat him no matter what I do. No other players to summon either. I'm lvl 100.

Decided to give up and now heading up some mountains.

Radahn? It’s not him, though I’ve not tried to solo him and imagine it would be tough.

Yeah. As a total novice I have been doing ok with my pure shield melee build for 70 hours but I can't find a feasible way to beat this bastard.

Will go back after I'm done at the mountains up north.

Another question - Has anyone came to that tower that's hidden? (I'm guessing it's a tower) You get a map that tells you where the two neon blue signs are but I can't find the third even though I have studied the map and scouted the area for absolutely ages.

He does not like cold. I used a weapon that I added a frost mist ash of war to, which creates a cloud of ice that frostbites him and buffs the weapon with ice at the same time. Then I summoned half the helpers, hit him in the back with it until they all died, then summoned the other half and did it again.
