Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree Expansion Announced

It's why the magic builds are quite powerful too. The basic ranged spell the astrologer starts with is very powerful, deceptively so and arguably verging on OP at times. I've bought other ranged spells and they're total pish in comparison haha. There's also a big sweepy one which is like the thing that comes out of a fully charged master sword in Link to the Past, great for taking out big crowds.

Once you have killed the Carian Moon Knight or whatever he is called, you can just go to the right side of the open area from the bonfire, jump across the buttresses to the bridge (not sure what the trigger is, maybe killing the knight, but the rolling boulders stop) and then get to the boss lift without encountering any enemies. Takes about 20 secs, if that.

The boulder didn't stop for me - not a problem though as once you get the timing right with jumping over the buttress you only have to avoid it once per run, and its always a case of diving the same way every time.

I mean sure, if you want to arrive on half health. In fairness I am rubbish at avoiding those little f*****ers though.

Red Wolf

At the moment - not even any summons signs around to ask for help.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, just stay on him, be aggressive and avoid the front. It might be because of when I encountered him but he only needs a handful of well-placed swings - your healing supplies should last long enough for you to keep going.

EDiT: oh, I think there are two according to the wiki? I’ve only done RWoR…

Red Wolf of Radagon

Facing the Carion Knight, turn left in his square, and then run across the covered bridge and open a door that’s at the end. Then from the previous bonfire, run to the left of the open area, jump up the rubble, up the stairs past the 2 sorcerers, straight across the bridge and left in the square to the lift. Saves having to dodge the rolling boulder.

Running past a boulder (run to the right, then straight to the door)>>>>>>>running past three Burger King sorcerers with their god damn homing arrows.

Btw, how do you get open the first door to the left in there??

I have no idea what I'm doing in this game now. I found

Spoiler

a Gough-like blacksmith and bumped my broadsword to +13, entered a spooky manor, had one crack at the boss but couldn't be bothered trying again right now, so explored along a nearby canyon where I've found a mine going upwards. Then after finding a site of grace on a cliff edge with a sunset and beautiful view, I closed it down for the night.

I should probably explore around Liurnia more tbh, there's a lot of land to the west I've not looked at.

Finally I’ve caught up with this thread. I’ve been playing this since last saturday and already clocked 26 hours.

I'm in pretty much the same situation although I'm over 40 hours at this point.  This is already the best game I've ever played and I've revealed less than 50% of the map, god knows what this still has in store for me.  Just an utterly incredible achievement which I hope is going to move gaming on significantly.

Started as a wretch and I've built a jack-of-all-trades type character, putting points into everything except faith and arcane.  I tend to use normal sized weapons in these games, mainly swords (lordsworn sword +12 and crystal sword +5 ish) and I'm also levelling up a morning star so I have something for every situation.  I have a levelled up shield, longbow, staff and crossbow as well.  Finding the crossbow a really useful substitute for my staff when I'm out of FP.

I've really enjoyed reading the thread alongside this and I didn't want to post until I'd caught up.  I absolutely can't wait to get back to it tonight.

I found a morning star which I've levelled up a bit and applied an Ash of War to that deals holy damage. I wanted a nice piercing weapon for those hard lads you find in the mines.

As a PSA, even if you're using a weapon with holy damage it doesn't kill undead enemies immediately; you have to actually use the ash of war to activate the holiness, then it works.

Talking of faith weapons I switched from my trusty sword to the Winged Scythe last night, was destroying stuff, the art that comes on the weapon is awesome like a spinning forward jump.

Explored the second area with the big lake, amazing, what a game.

Also, I just cheesed that crucible knight motherfucker.

Spoiler

Not the one in the Evergaol, the one you find at the bottom of the rampart tower. I

climbed up the ruins to where he couldn't get me and pelted him with poison arrows.

Spoiler

It was a big surprise when he turned into a massive angel thing. Wasn't expecting that!

I noped the fuck out of Caria Mansion last night

I'm kind of getting to the stage where all the places I feel able to explore are still pretty horrible and I'm trying to settle on the least intimidating option.

I found some mines last night but they're full of poisonous stuff and I still haven't found any poison cure items or crafting books so they're a pain in the arse Can anyone give a vague push as to the general area I can find them?

Stormveil Castle is just an astonishing bit of "level" design. Just when you think you've seen it all, it unravels even further.

Spoiler

Just dropped down via lots of precarious ledges (one of which collapsed on me), and got twatted by what looks to be a regular mob version of the Crucible Knight! I also fought and killed another of those wormy tree root things, and then climbed up the universe's longest ladder to get out. How was that made exactly?!

One puzzle still remains. There's a lift in the middle of one of the areas (with the gears accessible at the top) which gives the old "Contraption Doesn't move" message. I guess it might be my way out of here if I can survive.
