Great beginners guide from Bandai Namco here:

So what is super armour? Well it’s an invisible meter that enemies and bosses have which when fully depleted allows you perform a critical attack. Now we don’t tell you about this in the game and you’d never know about it unless you watched this video. Is it related to their health? Not saying. Their animations? Not saying. Do you have to guess when it’s depleted? Not saying.

Thanks for watching.

Woo, did the Flying Dragon Agheel! I ran into this guy near the end of the beta and noped out, but it's actually not that scary if you don't think about the size. Its moveset is pretty limited and if you want to be boring you can run circles and wait for it to do attacks that leave it open for a few swings, like

Spoiler

the flame breath move it does whilst on the ground

Feels good.

Omg just had the most satisfying first time boss encounter in Limgrave tunnels...

Spoiler

Terrified, I though I'd try out the magic gems I'd found in the dungeon.. Spammed five large ones, which was enough to topple him, meaning I just had to hit him a few times in the head for MASSIVE DAMAGE.

Amazing scenes. I felt like a boss.

This game is incredible.

Thanks! That's good enough for me, I can't be arsed doing that other thing as I'd likely never have done it by accident!

Ha and typically, completely by accident I did the other thing just now after beating a boss and fast travelling home to spend some souls! 😂

Put about 8 hours in since midnight and feel like I’m barely scratching the surface of what the opening area of Limgrave has to offer. Only have two map fragments. And just found another building with a lift platform heading down... absurdly large world, so full of joy and pain.

Played a couple of hours and this is great. Both much more accessible yet infuriating in the way only a Souls game can be. Looking forward to gently punching the sofa and mouthing “YOU CUNT!” At the TV in exasperation when the wife goes to bed later and I die repeatedly.

I’m trying to fight that giant thing.  Looks like others have ran past it, the wimps.

There's plenty more of them about the place including

As someone that only finished the first boss on PS5 Demon Souls and only tried a few of the other dungeons - I am finding this game bewildering. I advent got a clue what the fuck Im supposed to do.

Its pretty good, but it AIN'T Breathe Of The Wild. That game felt genuinely new. This just feels like what I played of Demon Souls (i.e. stressful and hard!) in an open world.

What am I missing?

A Switch with BOTW apparently.

This is exactly what I anticipated BOTW to be, but never got: a grown-up Zelda 1.

Jesus christ after so many years and so many playthroughs I'd forgotten how INTENSE these games are when going in blind.

Took an extremely early sojourn where I ended up in a pitch black cave with only my characters little pool of radiance to light the way with screeching demons surrounding me like some kind of cut-for-intensity scene from The Descent. It was bloody brilliant.

Nine hours in total so far. Some of what I've seen so far is unparalled in gaming. Spent a fair chunk of time outside the network test area as I hammered that when it was live. The scope, and imagination that has gone into this is absolutely insane. Been grinning like a kid most of the day.

I kinda get a bit bored with gaming these days, its an age and time thing, and the joy is kinda hard to find at times, but this has brought back the feelings I had on Christmas '98 when I got OoT. Delight, wonder, fun - feels really fucking good.

Anyway, here's my Wretch now after an hour of awesome fights. Spoilered as some might not wanna see the headgear:

Too many great things have happened tonight for me to post about. And I don't want to spoil anything for people.

But this is fab. It's like someone actually made an interesting version of skyrim. Lol

That old spoiler tag format doesn’t work anymore dude, you need to use the little eye icon.

Talking of spoilers I went into a cave and…

Don’t click…

Seriously now…

Patches!

Fixed it within a minute, that's an eagle eye man :D

I literally just did that too! Madness.

I was gutted about a purchase I made though.

Spoiler

Imp stonesword key.. Thought I could open the thing back at the tutorial but apparently I 'don't have enough keys'! Lame. I guess the number of imps is the number of keys required..
