I’ve done it with weapons all five times, you just need to make sure you’re doing a decent chunk of damage when you get close. It’s MUCH harder with strength weapons than dex ones. I used Watchdog's Staff +10 and Mimic+10. Like @Broker says you have to capitalise on openings and do a bunch of damage. It's pretty much a race to drain its health quick enough to compensate for your own flask usage. Its teleporting shenanigans are a pain though. Broker
5 hours ago, El Spatula said: You can also do Godrick and then Mohg. Mohg is the one I forgot! Godrick, Rennala, Radahn, Rykard and Mohg are all available pre capital, though if you’re going for speed Rykard and Mohg would be really tough at a lower level. Viable for NG+ though. Retroid
Godskin Apostle in Caelid is hard, anyway he's down. Got a real Sen's Fortress vibe from that tower which is refreshing. It was fun messing around with spells to push enemies off.
petrolgirls
That’s a great little tower and Godskin Apostle is the hardest thing I’ve fought so far despite being quite deep into the game now.
JoeK
6 hours played and still none the wise about whether or not I’m enjoying it. The vistas are the key seller for me, along with the glorious sound effects going on. There’s an atmosphere that’s definitely distinct from anything else…well, aside from other From games of course. But, I fucking hate the menu systems, and the way the game makes me feel like a doofus for not working out how I can assign an item to the ‘up’ button on the d-pad. My absurd inability to remember that X can make horsey vanish, as well as accidentally drink a rare potion. It’s utterly aggravating. I dunno, it’s great but also awful. Anne Summers
18 hours ago, Broker said: Any recommendations for STR weapons? I’m using a few that are fun but wondering if there’s any obscure ones I’ve missed. You need two great runes to get into the capital, if you don’t have any then there’s a wall behind Draconic tree sentinel that won’t move. I guess you need to beat two of Godrick, Rennala, Radahn or Rykard as the others are all behind the capital. I’m guessing the shortest route would be Margit, Godrick, Rennala, DTS, Godfrey, Morgott, Fire Giant, Godskin Duo, Malkieth, Horah Loux, final bosses. I found another way into the capital the other day ... Spoiler Through a teleporter in Deeproot Depths which activated after I beat Fia's Champions. Dunno if it still works if you haven't already beaten Draconic Tree Dickhead and got into the capital the official way. Anyone?

Yuujiin
Spoiler Just had a look have I got to beat the twin gargoyles to get to Deeproot Depths. I think beating the twins is more doable than the sentinel, just.
Broker
Whilst the deeproot depths route works, getting there requires either beating Radahn, then Mimic, then Twin Gargoyles, then Fia’s guardians. So I can’t see any situation where it would be easier than DTS.

That being said, I found the sentinel quite straight forward with torrent and a cold sword iirc. I guess it depends on your set up which is easier but it’s nice to have the option to go a completely different way and not be ‘stuck’ at a point.

Anne Summers
No one so far has given me as much trouble as the ulcerated tree spirit just before the Drainage Channel area in Halligtree Brace ... The one you need to kill to finish Spoiler Millicent's quest. Possibly because I can't summon for it.. Anyone able to stick a sign down somewhere around there for me? Not sure it will even work though.

My set up is pretty basic. Vigor 24 Endurance 33 Strength 32 and Dexterity 18. The rest are default. I swap between Cold Great Star +14 with Hoarfrost Stomp Bloodhound Gang +6 Lordsworn Blood Greatsword +14 with bloody slash. Medium load so can roll about. Now level 63 things are a challenge now. Have took down 3 main bosses now need to get into the capital. But still finding loads out and about . Just at the twin gargoyles or the sentinel guarding the Capital entrance. Both ways are death. Keep thinking do I respec or just get gud like " Let me solo her".
Harrisown
115 hours 3 cut scene bosses down. The general might be next but seems a bit beyond me. I still hate Caelid ,it’s ugly and horrible and the rot is awful. level 51 Found loads of caves, no help from any guides, glorious game. Still want the option to turn messages off and why are the on screen prompts so damn ugly.

I'm sorta getting into it - I wasn't really exploring enough, I think; what you can do early on is scattered about. I spent too much time close to the start trying to 'beat' or solve the areas you find. I'm enjoying it more the more I range about on my horse, running away from tougher fights. Then you run into people who talk to you and don't just fight. I've just met the Great Kenneth Haight...

You're doing well for being so low level, you should be in the 80's / 90's by the time you get to the capital, Draconic Tree Sentinel is intentionally hard to show you that beyond him you;re going to get slapped. You must be able to go elsewhere and level. Have you fully explored Altus? Or Mt Gelmir which is probably better to do before the Capital? Whatever you do get that Vigor up! Don't be scared to use Rune Arcs with Godrick's rune it's like 25 extra levels! You can farm them by helping people with bosses, at your level and weapon level you will have a lot of options with bosses all over the lakes, Caelid, Mt Gelmir and Altus so should get summoned fairly easily.
