I grew up on California Games on the Lynx (the big inspiration for this) so I think I'm feeling this doesn't stretch much. Still, it is quite zen and a nice way to get folks used to the crank. I can't believe those online scores are real, unless I'm missing a trick? 😄

Sounds like you’re missing all of them. (Badoom-tish!).

Is there an emulator for this yet?

Download and install the SDK from https://play.date/dev/ and then you can play most, but not all games. Some include code that can only run on specific platforms (Playdate/Mac/Windows/Linux).

You can map cranking to a controller analog stick, which makes a reasonable substitute.

Have fun!

Crankin's Time Travel Adventure dropped for me today. I've been looking forward to that - a neat way to use that crank!

Poor Crankin'... it does feel like the chronicle of an abusive relationship.

Finished it already. I'm not sure these drops are healthy for my addictive personality 😄

I've also got the second week stuff now.  Haven't tried it yet.  Enjoyed Casual Birder, although there are 3 more birds to get, and I'm not sure I can be bothered with the trial and error to get them.  Gave Whitewater Wipeout one try and decided it's not for me.  If they can deliver one game I like each week, I'm more than happy.

I can believe they're real but I'm never getting anywhere near.  My top score is about 250,000.

I've had mine for a couple of days now.

When I put it down last night it was at full charge, but not plugged into power, just left on my desk. Today I can't get it to turn on at all, it's totally unresponsive. I've had it plugged in for about an hour and it's still unresponsive. Is there a trick i'm missing or should I speak to Panic? 😕

@fatbobI am also having battery and unit issues. Battery dropped from 50% to empty while idle today. When I attempted to switch it on, I got the 'Please plug in' graphic, then when I did plug it in, I got a weird message saying "Sharing boot segment as USB drive" even though it was just plugged into a normal USB socket, not one on a laptop or anything. It has also been plugged in for hours now and will not charge past 99%.

Emailed support earlier, hoping I get a reply soon.

@shirubagan do you think it was downloading anything? battery takes a beating when wifi is active.

Nothing downloading, the battery just drains like crazy. CS from Panic are going through everything with me, but their initial reaction was that it is very unusual behaviour and it may be faulty :(

Lost Your Marbles…

Spoiler

…isn’t very good, sadly. It’s not a particularly well written or entertaining story. That wouldn’t matter if it was surrounding a much more significant game, but it’s pretty much all it is. The weird ball bearing game feels like an undercooked experiment, and simply isn’t any fun. It also doesn’t feel like it has any consequence. Oh well, can’t win with them all!

Is there a good guide or list of good games (pay or free) to side load?

See this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlaydateConsole/comments/w5ovhw/i_played_all_238_sideloaded_games_and_have_a_very/

> Disclaimer: some of my games made this best of list.

Since posting that list the author does weekly recaps of the best of what's new on Playdate.
