I think everything people have been talking about outside Alyx is Quest native...

It wasn't a serious moan, but there has been a fair bit on non-native chat recently actually.  Mentions of loads of PCVR and VD stuff, GTA5, Flight Simulator, Sword and Sorcery, No Man's Sky for instance.  I'm just jealous not having a gaming PC,  that's all!

What do people think about Eleven and Racket Fury? I find RF plays a much more natural game if table tennis, and I’ve had much better multiplayer games with it. In Eleven I find that I’m having to hit the ball harder than I would in real life, it feels quite heavy.

Pretty sure that's the first time I've ever heard that opinion! Eleven is so much closer to the real sport. Try fiddling with the settings, you can change loads of stuff relating to your bat/paddle. https://eleven-vr.fandom.com/wiki/Customising_your_paddle

Cheers, I had played around with those setting a bit, but it wasn’t really clear what they were doing. I’ll give it another go, hopefully I’ll find it feels more natural!

If you join the Eleven discord, there's lots of chat and advice on there about the customisation. Ask a question about how to achieve what you want, and I'm sure the resident experts will help. https://discord.com/invite/Mum2zTk

Quick question. Thinking of selling my psvr VR kit and getting one or these. I have an average pc but these run games without a pc? Will I miss out on much? Can I play half life alyx?

Games which will run natively on the Oculus (i.e., without a PC) are available from the Oculus Store. These tend to be a bit over-priced, but come with the convenience of being able to play directly via the headset.

Other games you have to stream from your PC, either via a cable or wirelessly. This includes Alyx. So yes, you can play it on the Oculus, but only if your PC can run it.

@Parappa I sold my PSVR (which I loved at the time) for a Quest. Never looked back. One of the best decisions I ever made. I can't imagine you'd get much for a PSVR mind.

To be honest, if you have an 'average' PC I think it will struggle to stream games to the Quest. There's a function within Steam which will test your PCVR set up. I would definitely try that before you make the move.

Having said that Quest 2 with native games is easily worth £299 regardless of your PC.

Gorn is now out on oculus quest £14.99 and it’s a pretty good port of the pc game

From a couple of videos on YouTube this looks like a gory, rag-doll physics short term novelty game.  I assume it's more than that then?

Yeah if your looking for something a bit more in-depth / long game play then prob no - if you play through the game your talking about 3-4 hours.  But the fun is being able to jump on for quick gladiator style cartoon blasts - it’s actually quite therapeutic in these lock down days :-)

I get that, describes most VR games really!  I just thought even by usual standards it could be shallow.  Thanks, I might take a look if I can hold off the store long enough to get one of these lapsed customer discounts.

Thanks all - I am going to guess my I7-4790k with GTX1650 isnt going to cut it so I will have to factor in a probably PC ugrade as well which could get very pricey..

I'm not entirely sure. I run VR stuff perfectly well on an i5-4770K with 16GB RAM and a 1060. You might be alright.

oculus has now introduced oculus labs - kinda similar to steam early access (though being oculus hard to find stuff)  some free stuff and some pay stuff on it already.  two of the oones ive played and enjoyed where:

ancient dungeon simulator - which feels a lot like minecraft dungeons in vr (or this is how my son discribed it when he played it - its free to try:

Desim (paid)  is a god simulator in the vein of black and white - been enjoying this one

Finally picked up cyube vr on steam - which is a more indepth version of minecraft - plays great over virtual desktop

Cyube looks really good, might give that a try later. I wonder if they will ever bring Minecraft natively to the quest.

I hope the release schedule starts to beef up a bit soon. Since the Q2 got a running start with all the previous Quest native games, it felt like an embarrassment of riches when I first got into it.

Now, after spending a bunch and it being my main gaming platform, the well's starting to look a little bare. Similarly with Beat Saber custom songs - a huge library from years of aggregation, now just a trickle.

Absolutely still love it, and Beat Saber, Thrill of the Fight, TopGolf and Crisis VRigade get played again and again. Looking forward to some inventive new stuff, even though I've already had more than my money's worth.

I got a Quest 2 today. I already had a Rift S but frankly it's such a ballache to setup I hardly ever use it.

First thoughts on my new purchase

It's nowhere near as good a fit for me as my rift s. Even with the glasses extension it's still very tight on the face and the more primitive headband is awkward to get a good fit.

However once I get it on and sorted it's great. Really nice to be able to just pop it on my head and get started.

Two questions.

Are the elite headbands any good?

Can you use it completely without wifi if you have the games installed on the Quest? Say if I'm in Sainsburys and fancy a game of Beat Saber will it work?

Yes. I've taken my Quest (1) on holiday with me a number of times as my portable gaming console.

That's what I was hoping you'd say. Cheers. What USB cable to people recommend to hook it up to my PC?
