It’s really good, until you get to a level in 2089 where you have no ammo. It’s during that level when you piston whip your less than a month old 65 inch TV that it starts to make you feel a new kind of sick!

For full disclosure, my ps eye camera thing on top of the TV took the brunt of the hit and the TV is Ok!

For others reference, learn from my mistakes, controls don’t seem to be tracked for the guardian by default!

I picked up an Oculus Quest 2 last week. Pistol Whip sorted obviously. One question I havent been able to figure out... is there an aim assist set by default or is it something you need to adjust yourself? I seen a hint pop up that mentioned 'aim assist' but the hint disappeared before I could read the full detail and now I cant find anything in the menus, modifiers, etc. about it. I dont want an assist on so be good to know if there is something in place.

Also, must have been my 5th or 6th session last night before I discovered the additional gun options  all that time I thought it was just the first standard set you could choose from. The Baba Yaga and Sci-Fi ones are just pure porn!

The modifier has a silly name though I think, like hardcore or bullseye or something, I can't remember.     @MardiganX float over each of the modifiers and read the descriptions, one says something about more accurate aiming.

As others have said, it sucks the fun out of the game as you'll probably realise you're crap at it :D

Got a Quest 2 the other day. Loving it so far.

I got Beat Saber. Is it worth getting Pistol Whip so soon after or are they different enough?

Got The Climb but refunded it, same with Wander and Thrill of the Fight. I don't think I have enough space for that. Also refunded that plank game which is brilliant but only for five minutes.

Is that golf game good if you only have around 1.5m*2.5m space to play in?

I would say that Pistol Whip and Beat Saber while both nominally rhythm action games are very different and worth getting along side each other.

Having said that they are both quite physical games and IF this is your first foray into VR and you’re restricted cash wise then something like Shadow Point or Red Matter might be a better compliment at this point in time.

Both golf games, ProPutt and Walkabout mini golf, are great and they don't require much space at all. You can pretty much stand on the spot and if you press the trigger button you teleport behind the ball. You should be fine for space. Of the two I prefer Walkabout but they are both lots of fun.

I was thinking the same when I played It- I remember the hype when it originally came out on pc  - the graphics at the time were next level mind blowing (I rember playing the leaked dev version before it came out which put my hype right through the roof)  and now I’m playing on my quest but more importantly I’m actually there in the midst of hell breaking loose :-)

Updates!

I refunded the Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets. It had been recommended as a puzzle game, but I think it sits awkwardly as too easy for adults, and too hard for kids.

Picked up Trover Saves the Universe. If you like Rick and Morty, you'll enjoy this. I'm only half an hour in, but they have a lot of fun explaining the arbitrary mechanics of games and collect-a-thons. It's at the pricier end, about 22 quid, but so far I'm happy with that.

And TopGolf is an excellent way to hang out with a friend and chat in a place that feels sunny. As well as a fun golf game too.

Not played my quest in months thinking of diving back in.

Is top golf worth getting? I don't have any friends so not sure how it is in single player. Does it have online matchmaking?

Is there a tried and tested way to prevent the goggles from misting up, especially when you haven't used the Quest for a while? It's a pain in the arse to take it all off and wipe them every five minutes, especially when you're using headphones. I think it's my body heat condensing on the cold glass.

Any recommendations for a replacement faceplate? I've read that some can make fogging better or worse?

Ta!

I got a very basic silicone faceplate protector from Aliexpress. It has a slightly rubbery feel but stops sweat getting on the foam one. It has helped with fog too, though this wasn't a massive problem for me. It was only about £4 including postage from France.

It is good but on balance I wish I'd paid more for a cushioned one which appear to be nearer £12 to £15. I'd say the comfort of the silicone one is fine but not much better than the standard foam that comes with the Oculus 2. I'm pretty lucky in that the standard headset and strap suit my small head fine and don't give me comfort issues until a good hour in now.

Yep, put the headset somewhere warm, like near a radiator. Let it warm up before you use it.

TopGolf is good - I think I paid £10 in the sale. Maybe £8. It's mostly putting courses, but with some good driving range mini games too. And I found online matches easily enough.

It's maybe my favourite way to just chat with a mate while we play. Nice and relaxed, and it feels like you're hanging out somewhere that isn't your living room.

Picked up a Fisherman's Quest, since it's a tenner.

As with many of these story-driven puzzle games, it's absorbing, charming, and not really possible in any other format. It's also pretty short at about 2 hours.

There's also a real trope being established. From games like Unfinished Swan, Edith Finch and Rime to basically every VR puzzle game, it's always an allegory for a troubled emotional situation. Which is fine, but it doesn't have the creative impact it once did.

That said, it's a tenner and nobody's going to the cinema right now, so I can recommend it as a good piece of entertainment.
