I've only played PC VR games via Virtual desktop which has been glorious so far, which has made me retire by Original Vive wireless adapter setup which is clunky by comparison to my Wireless setup Quest 2.  With the Vive I had to carry a battery pack in my pocket and the headset is more heavier and bulkier.  

 

Anyway, I'll prefer to play PC VR versions of games where possible but what are the standout native Quest only games?

I'll get it at some stage, but I've already dropped loads of cash on the native Oculus games and it seems quite expensive.  So I'll play through some of these games and the games I already have on PC before I spend more on that.

You are right, this is fantastic. Played the first three courses and I feel like I've been on holiday. The designs are terrific and you have to lift your head up to truly appreciate the clever interconnected layout.

 

There's a lot of debate about which is better, Walkabout Mini Golf or Pro Putt, and I think Walkabout takes the crown. 

 

Also, is it just me or is finding the hidden golf balls super addictive?

Elven Assassin on the other hand is not doing it for me. I think I've been spoiled by In Death: Unchained, which is superior in every way.

 

The aiming and accuracy feels more floaty and imprecise in Elven and I really don't like how you fire an arrow to teleport between platforms. It's resulted in me firing arrows at enemies only to find myself in another spot entirely. I know it isn't much money but the sound, graphics and interface are all a bit cheap too.

 

I think I might give it one more go but I reckon this is a refunder.

As suspected the VR in Assetto Corsa is wonderful and immersive, and we spent ages just hopping in various cars on different tracks.   But I've also loved the look of some of the native content on the Oculus store.  So far I've picked up:-

  • The Climb
  • Shadow Point
  • Vader Immortal
  • Red Matter
  • Richie's Plank Experience

... my Son bought me Superhot VR, but bought the PC version, which seems to run fine over Virtual Desktop which is nice.

 

I'm going to try out some more PC titles with the link cable now; such as No Man's Sky and Star Wars: Squadrons.

 

 

I've gone a bit mad since I posted this.  I've subsequently picked up Beat Saber and Half Life: Alyx; and have bought a new facial interface (cheap silicon cover) plus pre-ordered the elite headstrap with battery pack and travel case.    I've also ordered a new router to help with latency and bitrate in Virtual Desktop; although I seem to be getting fairly good latency and bitrate already and the PCVR games I've tried wirelessly look great.  Flight Simulator in VR is mind blowing.

 

Only problem I have at the moment is sickness and headaches.  Something like Beat Saber I'm OK with, but even with the teleport movement of Half Life I feel a bit off after only a few minutes.  Any tips for ways to get over that?  Or does it just take time?

In general, I think it takes time. Staying hydrated might help, and some people suggest using a fan can help. Play some gentle stuff to get you into it. Most important thing is to stop as soon as you start feeling ill.

I tried the different options and all of them made me feel squiffy.   I'm going to shelve it until I can do it justice, and I'll play some of the other native Quest games that I've bought until I'm a bit more comfortable in VR.

Just Picked  up Pistol Whip.  The pics and videos do not do this game justice.  When reviewers say you feel like John Wick they weren`t wrong.  This game is all kinds of awesome and gets you sweating like a pig to.  Just done the classic tracks and about to start legendary tracks.  Haven`t even tried 2089 yet. Looks like there's loads of replay value in this and very promising developers keep adding free content to like 2089.  Well worth the cash.

Yeah that’s it’s running native on the quest you still need to own the original doom 3  pc version.(not bfg version) as one once you install the mod you copy the pk4 files from the steam game into the base folder in the doom3 mod on the  quest (run the game once without to create the folders) and your good to go (you can get doom 3 for £2 from cd keys at the min)

I can't get this to work, for some reason. My phone recognises the pad, no problem, but it doesn't appear in the Quest app's 'Add Gamepad' menu. It does say it requires a 3.0 Bluetooth device, though, so maybe the 8bitdo pads are only 2.0.

Annoyingly this won't run for me on the quest 2. All installed correctly as far as I can tell.  First time you run it it just quits and creates the folders,  then you copy the files from your PC. But subsequently it behaves the same way, tries to start then quits out. 

 

I am dissapoint.

It’s really good, until you get to a level in 2089 where you have no ammo. It’s during that level when you piston whip your less than a month old 65 inch TV that it starts to make you feel a new kind of sick!

 

 

 

For full disclosure, my ps eye camera thing on top of the TV took the brunt of the hit and the TV is Ok!

 

For others reference, learn from my mistakes, controls don’t seem to be tracked for the guardian by default!

Yeah followed all the instructions to the letter , redone it a few times to be sure. No joy :(
