I had a quick gander in the Walkabout Discord, but couldn't find any confirmation that we were getting any before Labyrinth. Fingers crossed though.

For escape game fans, Extreme Escape VR is worth the £3.99 App Lab's asking. It's currently very short, but presumably they'll add more. However, it's both inventive and looks fantastic for Quest native.

Speaking of great Quest visuals, the team behind Red Matter have hinted they might be revealing something new on the 20th. Looking forward to whatever that is.

Anyone have any recommended games that are fun to play frequently and also provide a half decent bit of cardio exercise? I have Creed so not really looking for another boxing game. I've heard people mention Pistol Whip, and it's currently on sale, but the comments seem mixed so I'm not sure if it provides any noticeable cardio workout if you're already in decent shape.

Tried the Beat Sabre demo but it isn't really my cup of tea.

@partious Pistol Whip will certainly build up a sweat. It’s more a leg/squat workout though. I would imagine once you nail the levels however you’d end up moving less. For me when I was fit (training for half iron distance triathlons) it was still noticeable in the legs as I was constantly bobbing and weaving on the hard difficulty.

Regardless of that it’s an excellent game and you should own it if you have a Quest.

Another game you might want to take a look at is OhShape which is a hole in the wall style rhythm action game. Will get you moving your whole body and will also work up a decent sweat especially on harder difficulty levels.

I’m excited for ghostbusters offically in vr (let’s just forget the answer the calls vr cash grabs) esp as it will be 4 player co-op

hmm I wonder if it would be going overboard if I played this in my fully kitted flight suit and proton pack?

Been waiting so long for some announcements!

Red Matter 2, Moss 2 and GB have me entirely on board. And I think Among Us could be both amazing, and genuinely quite scary.

Been away from Quest for a bit as I’ve been exploring Gamepass, but upon returning I’ve found that Walkabout Mini Golf has some paid DLC courses so of course I bought them all instantly. The free support this game has gotten has been outstanding so they’ve earned my money, and while it’s possible they’ve lost their touch I’m cautiously optimistic that the core game is so solid that more courses can only be a good thing.

The new courses are great, I don't think they've lost their touch at all. If anything, they're successfully weaving more complexity in.

Obviously the question becomes whether or not the sparse simplicity was the best bit for you, but as the team grows I anticipate the ingenuity to match.

With regards to Walkabout Mini Golf, they released a new free update a few days ago. It completely updates the initial area that you load into, which they now call Welcome Island. Rather than being just the golf shack and a non interactive copy of the first course it's now a completely explorable area which now has a putting practice area, and a driving range. The driving range is proper mini game, with multiple tees so you can line up in multiplayer and then there are targets marked in the sea, floating around that you need to try and hit with the ball. It's a great little addition to a game that really does just keep on giving.

There are some nice little features as well, like little rafts that float around on the sea that take you round and through a little cave in the mountain, which feels like a relaxing ride that you'd get at a theme park. It's nothing particularly amazing but just one of the little magical touches that they add that doesn't need to be there but just elevates the product.

Picked my Quest 2 back up today and put it to use. I'd never played the 2089 campaign* before, fucking awesome!

*Edit: In Pistol Whip. :)

So they've announced a new Meta headset.. but no one seems interested 🤣 I didn't know what to make of it either.  Good timing as I was about to sink some cash on a 2 this week when I realised its due out this year so going to hold off for a bit.

Cambria is aimed at the professional market isn't it? I've seen price points in the thousands mentioned about it. I don't think the consumer equivalent with full colour passthrough is coming this year, or maybe even next.

The rumour mill is expensive 'professional' Cambria this year and cheap 'Quest 3' variant next year.

Yep, Cambria basically seems like a test run to then figure out how to get some of the tech into a cheaper headset.

I picked up my Quest 1 for the first time in a while yesterday, intending to get it wiped and ready to sell. I love VR, but due to other stuff going on and, well, Elden Ring, I just haven't been using it much. I figured I might as well get some money for it while it's still worth something.

Anyway, I tried out Walkabout Mini Golf as something of a send-off. I'm now now longer selling my Quest 1. :D

It's so good! The Quest is just endlessly surprising really. I'd obviously heard good things about Walkabout, but I wasn't expecting it to feel quite so tactile and immersive. I feel like I'm playing actual mini-golf, albeit on ridiculously elaborate courses. It's a little harder to judge power than in real life, but that's about it really.

I'm hoping the Quest 1 will last me until the Quest 3 finally comes out, but we'll see.

Walkabout is a system seller. At least it would be if more people knew about it (within the Quest community it's very popular, but it's not known 'outside' VR in the same way that... say... Wii Sports used to be, and it bloody well should be!).

I haven't seen Virtual Virtual Reality mentioned in this thread but it's excellent. It was the first thing I played when I got my quest 2 last month and it blew me away. It's very, very surreal.

Reading the reviews on the quest store pursuaded me to try it and I'm really glad I did. There's a sequel out now too which I'm looking forward to trying.

Also - Red Matter

I've been mulling over my top 20 for the rllmuk poll and Walkabout Mini golf is on the fringes of getting in, it's that good. So glad it has some new courses and updates.

How does that work with the hands? Can you hold something else to pose as the golf stick?
