I wasn't to sure where to put this but this seems to be the main all things VR thread

For those that have a decent PC (this will likely be performance heavy) and want more VR Resident Evil action, there is a Resident Evil 2 VR mod in the works, also what has me most excited is that these modders plan on adding VR mods to the rest of the series like 2, 3, 7 & Village!! If like me you've been waiting an age for Capcom to release RE7 VR on PC these pleases me greatly as they may do a even better job than what Capcom would as this RE2 VR mod allows for full motion control so correct me if I'm wrong RE7 on PSVR was only playable on a standard controller so if they add full motion controls to RE7 then :wub:

In other news I bought RE4 VR on Oculus for 20.99 using one of the 30% codes they regular send me, so will hopefully give that a spin later

Video of a RE2 VR play through below:

I wanted to watch the John Carmack piece last night but didn't realise you needed to be in Venues in order to do it. I set everything up and it's impressive as a social space for interacting with people. I didn't realise that people adding you as a friend also meant you become Facebook friends, but I was impressed with the level of interactivity and how easy it was to speak to other people online. I'm obviously most interested in the gaming side of VR, but it's impressive how quickly social stuff is moving forward.

Resi 4, the second you hear about that and your mind starts spinning about all the possibilities of how great it will be in VR. Sam Andreas not so much unless Rockstar put in a huge amount of work into it changing it for the format which I really doubt they will.

GTA can work in vr - if you havent tried the GTA V VR mod then def give it a go its really good and def adds a lot to the world - now with some time and polish (and not a half assed go like they did with LA Nior) i think riockstar could do something pretty great with the port (ideally first person - but with an option for 3rd person for peeps)

What are peoples recommendations for alternate head straps for the quest 2?

I’m still using the standard strap, and while it does the job I wouldn’t class it as comfortable. It’s fine for a few songs in beat  sabre or a few rounds in Thrill of the Fight. But after 30 mins or so it cuts into my head a bit. Can’t see me wading through the entirety of resident evil 4 with it.

Halo style straps look like they would be the most comfortable. But I’m worried they may not be as sturdy as the goggles style when I’m ducking and weaving to avoid punches.

I’d appreciate impressions of alternate straps. Both positive and negative are equally useful.

I've found this one to be excellent. Although a little pricey.

Pretty sure I watched some of it on Facebook video?

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I assumed you could just stream it in the video section of Quest 2 but you needed an additional app to view it. Good that you could see it outside of Quest as well.

This add on to the existing strap is cheaper than the elite style alternatives and works really well.

I've had a halo one on for ages, and they are comfortable, but I've recently switched back to stock. When I was playing anything active, with a lot of head movement like Thrill of the Fight, I found the headset would slide forward on the side rails, and basically slip off my face. Though that might be due to the rubber pads that grip the headset arms getting soft.

I doubt if Rockstar will handle the port themselves. They may have an executive producer role and oversee the dev studio that Oculus has picked to do it. Similar to RE:4, Capcom overseeing Armature.

Finally started Resident Evil 4 VR. It’s pretty special isn’t it. It’s kinda surreal walking around these familiar environments and holding boxes of the familiar ammo in your hands. Due to the change of perspective I’m now spin kicking not-zombies then double tapping them in the head when they’re on the floor like John Wick a bunch. This and Walking Dead have taught me that reloading under pressure when it’s not just press X is bloody hard!

Me too gave a quick play this afternoon.  It's definitely well done and they have not just slapped it into VR.  If they can put this level of production into GTA:SA VR then I'm not too worried

How did peeps here play Resi, sitting or standing? Standing is more immersive, but don't think my poor old knees can take standing for ages.

I’m playing sitting and using the teleporting movement and found it to be fine. To be honest, I haven’t even tried the regular movement, I’ve just assumed it’ll give me motion sickness. Might give it a go later.

i,m playing both sitting and standing as the mood (and comfort) takes at the moment. I'm using FPS full motion controls but with snap turning. I tried switching off the snap turning and tunnelling and found it made me feel a bit funny.

If Facebook, sorry Meta, are now in the business of porting old games as their system sellers then the original Bioshock cwould make for an absolutely amazing VR experience (just get rid of the respawning enemies or at least make them optional please).

Search for 'halo strap' on Aliexpress and you'll find a terrific alternative. They are about £25 including delivery. I got on fine with the standard strap but the halo gives me double comfort.

Standing, immersive controls, full locomotion and tunnelling turned off.   Hardcor3
