yooka-laylee is now currently free on epic game store and its a great platform - but even better there is a vr mod out that lets you play the whole game perfectly in vr

you can get the game here - https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/yooka-laylee

and the mod from here: https://github.com/Eusth/VookaRaylee  (along with straightforward install instructions)

i was playing it perfectly via virtual desktop ( as i find it better for steam vr games - but will prob work with link and steam vr)

Hey Quest users is Ultrawings any good, I saw it on the app the other day and thought it looked fun.

I really enjoyed it for what it is (a fairly stripped down flying game with few bells or whistles).

It's definitely a lot easier! And flying in VR is always nice if it doesn't make you sick (there's a few different cockpit modes to try and help with that but I didn't generally suffer). Just don't be expecting anything AAA, I guess any clips you watch of it in play will show you how it looks.

Warplanes is also pretty good ww1 plane action with similar touch controls

if your looking a more full on plane sim with full touch controls (and works well on virtual desktop or air link) then I also recommend flyinside on steam while graphically not on the same level as ms flight sim it also uses bing maps (lower version) for its ground map of the world  - the touch controls are really good with all controls and switches having to be operated by your hands plus it’s runs really well (ms flight sim you need a state  of the art pc to run in vr properly ). This is a vid I made a couple of months ago to show a mate

It's got some of the chilled out cruising of Pilotwings 64, albeit without the character. It's pretty fun though, and has that low-poly charm.

Any ideas where I can get hold of an Quest 2? Mate wants one for their kids. Had a quick look online and guessing these have rocking horse shit availability of the PS5?

they all were recalled/replaced with different foam covers and different storage options at the beginning of august. It’ll take a while (eg from today) for them to cycle through.

The new improved 128Gb version (that replaces the 64Gb one) went live on the Oculus store just now.   I just nabbed one.  Ships for delivery on Monday

When you get it, hit me up for RTX 3080 ACC settings :)

If anyone is thinking of buying an Oculus Quest 2 I’ve just been sent a referral code that gives us both £23 in store credit.

I'm coming awfully close to impulse buying the new 128gb one as it’s in stock at my nearest Argos.

Couple of questions. Does it start spewing stuff into your public Facebook profile? Probably already discussed, but this a big thread, how do spec wearers find it.

Nothing on my feed from mine and I got some clip on spacers for each lens from AliExpress for my specs just to be careful as I was concerned the included spacer didn't give enough of a gap and didn't want to risk scratches.

Same as these:

I have an elite strap and with specs there is a knack to putting it on and taking it off but you soon get it.  Only real issue I find is fogging of my specs at times but that usually goes once playing for a bit

There's no question specs are more of an issue with Quest 2. I never had much of a problem with Quest 1.

I bought a halo strap for £20 (Aliexpress) recently though and things have improved markedly. I've gone from 30 minute sessions to over 1 hour so I'd highly recommend upgrading the Quest 2 strap if you are having comfort issues.

Having had a quick blast on I Expect You To Die 2, it's exactly as good as the first. Which is an excellent game.

Slightly more polish, as you'd expect, but I didn't think the first was lacking much anyway. Good shit.

does it start at the difficulty level it ended on with the original?

Or does it start off easier like the original.

The last couple of levels of the first game stretched me quite a bit so if that was the starting point for the sequel I might struggle :D

There's a small tutorial, but I think this is assuming you've played before. The levels themselves probably follow the same difficulty ramp as the first, but they have some more unusual achievements that might be harder than the first for completionists.

It's not easy from the beginning, but it is incredibly satisfying and entertaining.

EDIT: And I finished it in about two sessions. But they weren't especially short sessions, I just love these games. Will probably go back for all the achievements, since they're so fun to work out.

Walkabout Mini Golf is fantastic. 🥰

I’ve always been a fan of the pastime, but it’s been difficult to find places out in the real world that offer it.  This is an excellent simulation with some wonderfully designed courses, & the extra gameplay offered by the harder course variants & the little treasure hunts you can go on are just the icing on the cake.

Unfortunately however, my WiFi connection for the Quest 2 isn’t the best so I haven’t tried Multiplayer, but this is the kind of game that motivates me to do something about that.
