Strange they cut the only scene that shows Gamora still alive following Tony's snap. They should have just inserted that small bit into the part where Tony is dying, as it would make more sense as to why the Guardians go looking for her at the end of the movie.

I thought that was obvious. She isnt their Gamora, she doesnt know them so why would she just leave with them.

No. :coffee:

It is though, really. For me, Infinity War is a 9/10. This is a 7.5/10. This one suffers from some poor pacing.

I still went to the cinema to see it twice, mind. And I have the limited edition steelbook on pre-order.

I thought Captain Marvel came across as a bit like Cavill-Superman. Not great. Thankfully not too much of a Deus Ex Machina, which was something I thought they might fall into.

I thought Marvel finding Stark and Nebula randomly drifting in space was one of the most ludicrous deus ex machinas (machinae?) in the franchise.

Yup, as much as I love it, that bit is all very contrived. All it takes is for her to slip a line in somwhere saying she got their distress call.

She responded to the Nick Fury's pager and then went out to find them.

That's a stretch. The pager doesnt tell her that theres a stranded ship into the middles of god knows where. It's all very convenient that her path to earth was from the same direction as Titan.

She went to Earth first. That was in one of the Captain Marvel credit scenes.

Bruce Banner knew that Tony Stark, Peter Parker and Dr. Strange were abducted. Rocket knew that the other Guardians were going to Titan. So it's not really a stretch to ask her to look for survivors there.

I think the film suffers from the same issue that The Dark Knight Rises does, in that they've been a bit ambitious and ended up with a film that was far too long. They've had to cut things that would help make some things a lot clearer. For example, in the The Dark Knight Rises...

How did Bruce get back into Gotham?

That said, I love both films.

He used the "walking on thin ice" skills that were taught to him at the start of Batman Begins.

Super Craig already covered it, but it's not a stretch at all. No mental gymnastics required, just basic logic. After turning up to earth and asking "where's Nick fury" (Captain Marvel mid-credits scene) she'd have been filled in on all the events, including Tony and Peter heading off to space in one of Thanos' ships. So off she went to search. :)

So we can just make up anything we want to fill in plot holes? We should start a thread where we fix every film with the power of imagination.

Do we need every action/detail completely explained in a film?

But Marvel finding Tony and Nebula in space is not a plot hole, at all.

The film's selective use of its own rules for time travel, now that's a plot hole.

I think what you actually need is a thread that explains what a plot hole is exactly. Hint: it's not stuff that is implied, but stuff that doesn't make sense or contradicts other stuff.

That's one of the things that annoyed me. Particularly when the writers make several points along the lines of 'this is how you do time travel properly, ignore all those other movies you know'.

I'm reading Philip Pullman's Grimm tales at the moment, and he makes the point plot holes are only an issue if they confuse the plot or the rhythm of the story. A massive bit of luck or conicidence is completely normal in fairy tales, that's what makes it a good story.

The entire movie only works because a rat stepped on the right button before a van was crushed in to a cube.

So yeah, I'm willing to connect the dots on "Captain Marvel finds Tony".
