Pockets
The Switch is My Life Story. A few genuinely great songs and an army of weird, feather boa-clad girls and boys who’ll scratch your eyes out if you dare suggest it’s not the greatest thing ever.

pinholestar
The collective 40-somethings of Rllmuk reliving their distant faded youth by dropping Britpop band names and then Sony come rolling in with a brand awareness ad set to a score of Baba O’Riley. What the hell is going on?!

mikeyl
New PS5 advert is this lad but now he has a boat. Forgot about the Destiny dweebs in the background Also PS4= Chemical Brothers confirmed

Pretty sure almost everyone on here dunked on those lifestyle adverts for being unrealistic and featuring situations that would never happen and calling the Switch DoA. the_debaser
Yeah those. I loved them. They sold the concept instantly.

You're probably scared of the opposite sex. You're better off isolated on a boat. Let's call it a cruise ship. A covid-raddled cruise ship. In quarantine. Stuck off the coast of Australia. Praying for that tsunami. Not sure how you'd fit the PS5 in your cabin though. You should probably buy a Switch instead.
mikeyl
those Switch parties are kinda realistic? Replace the hot women with out of control nephews who will absolutely not let you eat your Christmas dinner in peace or 4 hungover lads coming back from a stag do in a 10 hour delay at Split airport and it has happened?
Dirty Harry Potter
Jesus you lot are harsh critics. I thought it was quite imaginative and fun.
yashiro
I don't think having people invading on boats is a sound idea for a marketing video in the UK. Also, wtf at the PS4 guy video when it cuts to the 20fps game footage. Imagine thinking yeah boss, this is good to go.
Uncle Mike
Mark me down for someone who thought the Switch adverts were decent. I think that dancing man PS4 ad is pretty decent also. The PS5 boat one does nothing for me.
Flanders
Has everyone forgotten how crazy the PS2 adverts were? The David Lynch one and all the others in the same vein? Or the Mental Wealth one for the first PlayStation? It’s a proud legacy of marketing that has sweet fuck all to do with the main product but looks cool anyway. Rooftop parties, pfffft. ChristopherBloodAxe
I thought this was a Playstation ad but remember the Xbox ad specifically designed to put you off gaming by reminding you how short life is?:

They are in just about every TV show or film when the yoofs "throw a party" They’re just disposable cups, like the white ones we have here but a bit bigger because they’re generally used for alcohol instead of children’s drinks. They’re more common in America, because they seem to buy more kegs of beer where we’re more likely to buy bottles, I guess because larger houses there make larger gatherings more common so everyone chipping in for a keg is generally more economical.
Robo_1
The advert sets a grandiose, fantastical tone. It seems like a continuation of the PS4 era adverts which put players into various game settings. I liked it, as an opening shot I think it captures the sort of larger than life tone they're going for.
