It’s basically the KC3000 I mentioned with its own heat sink.

No, I think they throttle throughput to keep temps down. Most only seem to only reach that ceiling when transferring around a 1TB at full capacity which is pretty unlikely when gaming. Still, for £8 or whatever it’s probably a sensible purchase.

I’m constantly running out of space for games these days, have SSD’s ever had any really good deals? Amazon currently have the WD Black 1TB with heat sink for a£109 or the 2TB for £217, still seems pretty expensive despite the saving

I got a 1TB + HS direct from Crucial not long ago for around £85. I think they’ve had a slightly cheaper offer recently.

Sorry if this has been asked dozens of times before...

With the PS+ collection (the 20 odd PS4 games available to PS5 owners subscribed to PS+) being discontinued in May, can I just go through and select "add to library" on each one to secure them on my account? I don't have to save every game to local storage before it's gone?

They work like the monthly Essential games (a.k.a. classic Plus) in that once you've claimed them you have access whenever your subscription is active. No need to download them.

Okay, this is cool (and bloody useful).

I've put Beta firmware back ony PS5 after I read what the update contained:

You can now use the installed disc version of a game with a digital license.

So, for example, Horizon Forbidden West is now on PS+. "Purchase" it through the PS store and you don't need to download 100Gb of data if you've already got the physical version installed.

Nice!

I mean thats decent and all but it’s a bit much celebrating a feature almost a decade after it should have come out, what next? Will a 20gb update no longer need 300gb of HDD space :o

  • 1 month later...

Just got one of these (disc version) - and it opted to install Miles Morales automatically from my PS5 account.

Can I use my disc for original Spider-Man and will it work in the PS5? And will data transfer copy over my saves from the PS4?

Mine's currently with Sony due to it deciding to shut itself off every time I boot up a game. Apparently this is A Thing. Kind of a kick in the pants considering I waited so long to get one (bought it Feb 14th), and even then grudgingly did so only to ensure I had one for Diablo and Street Fighter.

Does Fallout 4 disc saves work with digital FO4 now then?

No, that's not a disc Vs digital licence issue in the way the beta sorts out disc vs digital. Bethesda put out different disc versions for the UK and EU (like, they have different product codes, so as far as the store is concerned they're completely distinct games, with two completely distinct sets of save and distinct sets of DLC).

Now if you're in Europe that's fine because the digital copy on the EU store matches the product code of the EU disc version and all saves and DLC map correctly. But Bethesda didn't use the UK product code for the digital version in the UK, they used the EU product code.

Short of Bethesda updating the UK digital version store listing to use the UK product code- which would break every existing digital purchaser's DLC and saves- we're stuck.

Ahh FFS! Thanks for the detailed explanation, what a ridiculous situation.

This may just be me but does anybody else think the haptics on the MK2 Dualsense (I've a Nova Pink one) aren't quite as strong as the OG DualSense that came with the console?

Playing Sackboy earlier and, me using the pink controller / my son using the white one, it definitely seemed that the haptics weren't as pronounced on my pad.

Both running the same firmware, volumes and vibration intensity both the same.

Weird.

Do you think the battery life is any better on the pink one because of this?

I've grown to quite like the DS, but by fuck the battery is so bad.

I'm using a charge cradle so I've not ever compared them directly. I may do some experimenting this week to see if there is any major difference.

I own both an Xbox Series X and a Series S, X in the living room and an S in the office, and one of the best things about it is the Cloud Save sync.

I play a game on the X in the living room, if I turn it off and go upstairs to the office, it seemlessly sync's the cloud saves and I can continue right where I left off.

I love the feature, it's amazing.

How well does this work but with two PlayStation 5 consoles? Has anyone got a set up like that? Is it as seemless and great as it is on Xbox?

Shit, imo. We have a few PS5's and i can't play the same game in one room then move onto/into the next room and resume after a week as the saves haven't updated. Is incredibly annoying.

It’s not just you! My original launch day DualSense developed stick drift whilst playing Resi 4. Picked up a new Black one to replace it. Instantly noticed that, not only are the Haptics/rumble not as strong but, they also don’t feel as good or as defined as the original launch day controller. The new one is slightly smaller in size than the original too. You get used to it but, the original was definitely better.

You can force it to sync though, can't you? As long as you remember to do that it should work fine (assuming you have PS+). It's not as seamless as it could be though, that's for sure.

I have to manually send them up from the machine i am using but they don't show up in Cloud storage on another machine to then download again. Happens all the time.

Thank you for the replies!
Yeah, that does sound a bit shit. It's basically exactly the same as the PS4, as I have had some use of using multiple dev-kits and trying to manage saves.

Yeah, the situation is exactly the same as the PS4. Disappointing it hasn't improved, especially as if you use PS+ streaming you end up with yet another 'local' location for saves!
