Is the quickest way to see a game's achievement list really to go to the main menu, select the game and then pick the trophies on the right hand side?

On the quick menu there's a trophy shortcut under your profile icon.

I’m just waiting for the option to move PS5 games to an external drive. Am happy to keep swapping games out then, just like I am with the Series X.

That's almost certainly never going to happen. At some point they're due to turn on the option for NVMe drive expansion, but Sony have been pretty explicit that they never plan to support external drives for PS5 games.

Or Triangle to take you to top menu and then across to profile.

No to play from, but yes to store on (eventually):

Can I store or play PS5 games from a USB drive?

No, players cannot transfer PS5 games to a USB drive. PS5 games must be stored on the console’s internal ultra-high speed SSD for gameplay. Explorations for allowing players to store (but not play) PS5 games on a USB drive in a future update are underway.

I don’t mean being able to play them from there, just store. Like you can on the Series X.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but does anyone else's HDMI CEC setting on their PS5 misbehave? If I enable it and then turn my PS5 on via the controller, it will turn the TV on and switch the source to the PS5 with no issue. The trouble is, however, if I turn the TV on to use either my Switch or XSX, the PS5 will also turn on, even if I don't want to use it. I then have to switch sources to my PS5 and turn it off, which then turns my TV off, and the whole problem starts again until I disable the CEC setting.

I'm using an LG B9, if that makes a difference. The HDMI CEC stuff on the XSX and Switch work fine - the consoles only turn on if I turn them on, then they turn the TV on themselves and switch the source.

That's how HDMI-CEC worked on the PS4 as well. If the TV was turned on and showing the PS4 input, it would switch the PS4 on. It's a perfectly reasonable interpretation of how "Match TV Power State" is meant to work and it saves a button press when you're changing inputs but it's not always ideal.

Maybe the PS5 will be like the Vita and they'll keep unlocking additional speed through more cooling. So you'll have Bugsnax silently running away under your TV, but you put TLOU3 VR on and the console is levitating under your TV like a hovercraft, blowing your cat down the hall.

Are you sure the PS5 turns on with any input on the TV? In my experience, it only turned on if I turned the TV on and it was left on the PS5 input.

I’ve given up trying to find a way to get CEC to work on PS5, though. It’s just bonkers. The Xbox giving you options to choose what it does and doesn’t do makes much more sense.

I think the issue is that even if I use another console to turn the TV on, if the PS5 was the last thing I used, because the TV turns into the PS5 HDMI before immediately switching to my Switch/XSX, the PS5 still turns on anyway.

A question to those of you who requested a PSVR adapter - how long did it take to be delivered? I got a confirmation email last week to say it was on the way but nothing’s been delivered yet, let alone tracking info.

Arrived today. Classic rllmuk.

I guess I can now hook up the PSVR to the PS5, and put the PS4 out to pasture. Goodnight, sweet Prince. :(

Yeah, exactly. The only way around this that I found was to manually switch to another input before turning the TV off, which is a faff and outweighs the benefits of CEC.

I think in the LG settings, if you turn on SIMPLINK, but turn off power state matching, you might be able to get the PS5 to turn the TV on but not off. But there’s a good chance I’m misremembering.

Internal M.2 storage due in the summer

Firmware update to increase fan speed due at the same time as usage of internal expansion slot causes increase in heat output.

Given this isn’t official surely it’s not right, 7 months after launch you can add some storage to the minuscule amount you get on launch!?

The fan ramp will 100% be needed for the hdd as pointed out by all the strip downs due to how inefficient the cooling design is particularly for the very fast and therefore hot NVME upgrades.

dude have you got fomo? You’re constantly in the ps5 thread trying to shit on it, it’s an amazing console, that’s an unconfirmed report and the air flow tests show plenty of cool air will be sent over the nvme expansion slot anyway

To be fair Sony will have to have done a fair amount of testing on various nVME drives.

Think there was some discussion about one of the memory chips running little hotter than the others but still within operational bounds.

It is what it is at least you can choose and upgrade your SSD storage yourself without buying an expensive proprietary unit I guess... so pros and cons....

It’s pretty relentless and there’s a couple of regulars that keep doing it.

It’s putting me off the forum at the moment and a few others have mentioned something similar too.

It definitely feels more “next gen” than my series X. The controller feels like something from the future.

Not had any UI issues so far. Miles Morales feels proper next gen (although I also felt the same about The Medium and not many seem to agree).

Finally got to have a play at around 10pm. Plugged it all in and powered up only to be met with a No Signal screen. Restarted a few times and same thing. What was odd is the input got renamed to ps5 even though no signal. In the end I tried a different port and it worked fine. I plugged something else back in to the port the ps5 was in and that also worked fine. No idea what that was all about.

I had a bash on Astro and it was fun enough. The haptics in the pad are nice although I’m not sure about the speaker. I had to go turn down the volume of that in the settings.

Ive left it downloading a load of PS+/collection games so will have a proper play tomorrow.

Ok, first cock up this morning. I was looking through the PlayStation Collection games and added a couple last night and it makes you check out at £0.00 which seemed a bit odd.

Anyway, this morning I tried to queue up the last guardian from the app and clicked through next, next, confirm… Wait what? Oh great, I’ve just paid £29.99 for a game through the app which would be free through the console?

Fucks sake.

Nightmare, phone up Sony and hopefully they’ll refund it.
