I think all of the statements here about the UI, is the UI you are used too is usually your favoured UI.

Let me put it this way: I have to assume that even the biggest PlayStation fan can see the benefits of a fully customizable dash. So if Sony could copy one thing from Microsoft's dash, let it be that.

Is it similar to the Series X where everything on PS4 is playable on PS5 and I just download what I want to play from that catalogue?

More or less, there's maybe 20 games that have been blacklisted and unless it's a poorly reviewed Assassin's Creed you probably won't notice.

Ever since I plugged my external HDD in every time I turn my ps5 on it says the disk in the drive is unreadable. I have to eject and re-insert. Is this a known issue?

It's a known issue. I have been having this issue since I first played a PS4 game off the external HDD I posted about it early Jan, I've not yet found a solution, the best I've got is to move the PS4 game your playing to the internal drive, so I am playing Sekiro at present and it seems to stop the problem for at least one power off/on cycle before returning, it's odd. I've looked all over and tried several fixes and this has been the most successful. The other one was to remove the drive and reattach, I haven't tried database rebuilds or anything like that because I can't be arsed, it is a pain. If you find a solution please let me know.

Those black plates make it look very boring, and even more like a modem. The wanky write up is a bit cringe too. Think I'll pass.

They are essentially saying "come at me bro!" which is in fitting with covering your PS5 with tiny radioactive symbols.

I’ve got a weird problem, my PS5 has stopped outputting sound to the TV. It was absolutely fine last night, this morning, nothing.

Further diagnosis is even stranger..

PS5 > PS VR Processor > TV - TV has video but no sound, PS VR headset has video and sound.
PS5 > TV - No picture or sound

PS5 > Remote play - fine

I’ve tried an alternative HDMI port on the TV, alternative cable, changed sound output settings on PS5 to Amplifier then back to TV, no joy.

Might be a daft question but is your PS5 on mute? This seems to happen by default when the Dualsense powers down. It's in the single press menu under sound I think. Confused me the first time it happened.

I couldn’t find any sort of mute setting, however I have resolved my problem by power cycling the TV (unplug mains, discharge, reconnect). I can’t explain why the problem lay with the TV, or why the issue followed the PS5 across HDMI sockets, some sort of handshake issue..

Now I need to sort out the cabling mess I created, the bit of time I had for gaming is long gone!

Sounds similar to the issue I had where I got no sound from a 4K Blu-ray. I tried a bunch of stuff nothing fixed until I accidentally hit the Netflix button on my TVs remote. It's like there's a bug in the HDMI input from the PS5 that doesn't tell the TV what it's doing properly... That's my guess anyway

It’s madness over there with people overqueuing. Yodobashi is currently limiting PS5 sales to exclude people who bought one earlier or bought multiple Switches (?).

So yeah. “Peachy.”

My Yodobashi has just had a sign up since last November saying “we don’t know when PS5 will be restocked”. I don’t even bother looking anymore.

I infrequently (something like once in every 6 boot ups or so) have the PS5 start up and think it's outputting HDR, while the TV insists it's receiving an SDR signal, and what I'm actually seeing is a dramatically muted output. Only fixed by rebooting the PS5. It does seem to have some... interesting behaviour.

My PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5 have all had problems with losing connection to my LG TV when in or switching to HDR. It was infrequent on the OG console and is on the PS5 but the Pro was a nightmare for it. In fact that would sometimes drop connection mid game. Given that it’s happened across them all it’s probably something specific to that telly in my case.

I'm noticing that HDMI device link is very inconsistent / doesn't seem to work. I can't seem to get my TV to turn on with ps5 like I could with my ps4

I think it’s dodgy.

my tv turns on with no sound from ps5 if I shut down the ps5 but while it’s shutting down turn off the tv.

I presume that’s what’s happening. My mate was getting a lot of no sound issues with his Sony PS5 ready tv too.

Really hope we get to see the system software get fleshed out this year.

They need to address the issues when you have an external HDD connected. I avoided doing it until recently due to the reported issues but I have felt more or less forced into it when my "other" folder reached 100gb and i was running out of space generally.

Now it declares the disk in the drive is unreadable every time i power it on. I made the mistake of putting it in rest mode, this then caused it not to respond to my attempts to power it on with the dualsense. I had to use the button on the machine, when it had powered on it wouldn't recognise the dualsense whatsoever. I had to fully power it off to sort it.

These are all issues that appeared the moment i connected the same HDD i used with my PS4 without issue.

Getting pretty pissed off with all these daft issues.

Long press the mute button on the pad and it mutes all audio from the PS5.

Drive still works fine on the PS4 though aye? Just worth spotting if it's just the console or the drive itself has been damaged.
