Why won't my phone charger charge the pad up?

cheap phone charger, same as it ever was: some chargers just charge, others have all data lines connected,

and this is what’s required

had it back in the day with PS4 pads too, with cheap cables vs. OEM (Samsung, Nokia, etc)

cables and chargers

Anyone had their PS5 crash? It’s happened 3 times to me today whilst playing Miles Morales. One time it made a pretty scary noise too. Is my PS5 fucked, or is it just the game?

If it's just a crash it's unlikely to be a fucked PS5, i haven't had any crashes for a while, did you have any artifacts visually?

Had a PS5 for a few weeks now, the UI is terrible. Trying to use the game base during a game freezes almost every time for 10 seconds+ and generally navigation is unintuitive and slower than my PS4 Pro was with an SSD. Had a few hard crashes in games too, GTA Online and Shenmue.

Other than this the console and duelsense are great, but I can't pretend to not be disappointed by the above.

There have been a couple of times where I've resumed Demon's Souls from standby after not touching it for several days and it's crashed.

You should really turn stuff off if your not going to use it for a good length of time, planet stuff and all that.

Any decent arcade racing games in the sale?  That’s the only thing missing from the PS5 lineup!

Hotshot Racing is a very deliberate combination of, Ridge Racer Outrun, Daytona, NFS, Chase HQ, Virtua Racing, and lots more arcadey goodness. It lacks identity perhaps but it plays very well.

Enjoying the games in general on my PS5 but as mentioned here already the console is a bit of an under baked mess isn’t it? Problems I’ve encountered so far include numerous crashes, controller disconnecting and a disc getting stuck and making a horrible grinding noise when I tried to eject, only remedied by putting the console horizontal and using safe mode. Very worrying for such an expensive device.

for balance I’ve not had one issue with my Series X.

I do wonder what is going on though. I've not had any problems so far beyond the UI being nonsensical. Then again, I'm the neurotic type that closes every game when returning to the main menu. Maybe the suspension feature is not as solid as Sony thinks?

The new Store is inexplicably poor. It's much worse than the old one, which didn't seem possible. Wishlisting more or less removed (there is a wishlist button for things that aren't out yet but not, as far as I can tell, for items out) the UI is sparse, there's very little media in the store for videos or trailers etc. I don't understand who signed that off as being ready.

I'm in the camp of people who aren't having PS5 instability. But, like, @Cyhwuhx said, I'm also mainly closing games before I put it into Rest mode. And I'm not playing disc games.

I stuck Miles Morales in my wishlist (assuming I'll get a notification if/when it appears in a sale?) so you can do that for stuff that's out apparently.

The store as a whole definitely feels like a downgrade though.

The bloody Store is also insanely inconsistent:

  • PS5 Store: You've got a smooth interface and a wishlist, but sales are hidden and the Store really doesn't like you looking at PS4 games. Shows screenshots and videos.
  • Website Store: Shows you as few titles as possible, whilst taking away your ability to sort them. Has no screenshots and video whatsoever. Often doesn't load price tags.
  • Mobile App Store: Shows you screenshots and videos, has no sorting, no wishlist, doesn't show differences between various editions and DLC at a glance.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. I mean the previous one was a woefully slow HTML5 monstrosity, but at least the Store had the same functionality everywhere. Now it feels like I have to solve a Sudoku first to determine which 'Store Experience' best suits my current emotional state of being.

Although it takes rubber banding to a truly absurd degree, you spend the 1st lap maxing your nitro and then just sit there until you're <Length of nitro> from the finish.

Agreed. I really looked forward to HSR, loved it when I played it, then clean forgot to ever go back to it.  It has the programmer pedigree, the nice presentation, sharp strong colours, fun drift handling, but there's something about it that makes a couple of hours all you need.

One time all the controls locked out (including the PS button) and I eventually had to hold down the power button for 20+ seconds before it reset.

The other two times everything on screen during a cutscene just froze. One of those times it reset itself, the other time it made a horrible high pitch noise and had to reset. On all three occasions the Ps5 had to rebuild its database.

I had a couple of crashes on Miles Morales which scared me as they were full pull power out jobs . Demon souls and warzone I've not encountered any wobbles

Reading around the issue, MM does seem particularly prone to it. Maybe I’ll just see if it gets patched or something, but I was really enjoying it, and now I feel a bit scared to play it. :(

Yep, which is a shame because it's literally "tweaks to that" away from being sensational.

If all 3 times it was during MM then just play it dude, I'm sure it's just the game, some people have been lucky, I played through the entire thing without crashes on Fidelity mode, I've only just started a playthrough on Performance RT mode but not had a single crash.

Dirt 5 has crashed a few times but not hard crashes, i can close the game, but the game stops doing anything.

Only time I've had a softlock was playing MM.

I've seen it in MM two or three times, one of which had the somewhat terrifying noise that others have described. That's the only time I hard-powered off though, mainly out of fear for my speakers. The other times the PS5 restarted itself after 30s or so.

I think the only other issue I've encountered was the games uninstalling themselves one. That was aggravating but they did patch it fairly quickly. That said, I'm not convinced it's entirely fixed - some of the symptoms, such as content packs mysteriously redownloading, are still cropping up, but I haven't had to reinstall again at least.

I'm happy overall, but the software does definitely feel a little unfinished. (I'm not even going to start on the new store 'design'. I haven't exactly embraced digital purchases yet anyway and their new monstrosity isn't furthering progress on that front.)
