May have been answered already, but 1) how do you create folders, and 2) can you hide the Media and PlayStation Now stuff?

1) No folders. I know, right?

2) Most of the media stuff is hidden away on the Media tab, if you mean the media gallery, that and anything else you don't use should be pushed into the game library once you've booted 9 other games.

No folders? I have almost 400 games listed but I can’t use folders? You can’t even sort them alphabetically properly I notice - it doesn’t deal with “The” games correctly.

Media tab would be nice to turn off as I’m never going to use it.

At least all those apps are semi-hidden on their own page, ironically one of the only things I used to use a folder for

Just never press R1* and you'll be fine.

*which, if you're making a list of changes from PS4, used to be for jumping straight to the game library.

I've tried 3 different sets.

Sony MDR-1 over the ear

Sony MH750 buds

Another set of generic buds

With 3D audio switched on the sound gets muffled and the volume drops. Switch off 3D audio and it noticeably improves.

Worst game was Miles Morales with 3D audio on.

Just to check.......have you got the ear height thingy in the settings menu, set up properly for the 3D audio? Stuff sounded off for me, sort of muffled and weak, out of phase, until I set it up right. I was using on ear Sennheisers at first. Then, when  I changed to a set of over ear Sennheisers, things sounded off again until I recalibrated the ear height setting for those particular headphones.

Neither of these things are true- charging from the front USB-A port doesn't work in rest mode for many people, Sony are investigating. It has a noisy fan and coil whine for a lot of people, which is why mine is at Daddy Sony's instead of under my TV.

Yep so it's broken, charging from any USB port on mine works, which one is broken, the one that works from them all or the one that doesn't? whether it's for many people or not, it's broken.

Noisy - broken, mine is completely silent, my Surface Book 2 is noisier when sat on the desktop.

Sony quality control you mean, even Sony know it’s an issue as they updated the FW to fix the non charging issues and people have said it hasn’t fixed it.

First hard crash today, thanks to Spider-man. Not Spider-man himself but the game. Thought this kind of thing would have been sorted out by now. It was pretty scary as it was accompanied by a terrifying sound and couldn't even switch it off at the power button on the system itself. Ah well, it rebooted itself and rebuilt the database or whatever it does.

Hooray

Hang on...some of these new PS5’s are loud?

if so, I’ll abandon my search and start searching for a Series X until there’s a PS5 revamp instead.

I keep flipping between a feeling of FOMO and not having one at launch and also slight silver lining that I’ll likely get one when Sony tweak things and we get a quieter console that doesn’t crash. Giving Sony some time to tweak the hardware and software.

So, just been playing Demon’s Souls when out of nowhere it black screened. Got a weird really cheap looking blurry menu pop up saying “rebuilding database”. Then got a report saying “there has been a fault in the system software”. Everything seems to work fine........except Demon’s Souls will no longer load. :/ It just stays on the splash screen right at the start.

I’m assuming it’s got to be something to do with the SSD? All the other games load up with no problems. Any ideas?

Reinstall it.

Played WRC9 for a bit with no issues but Demon’s Souls still wouldn’t load. Switched the PS5 off for a few minutes, turned it back on and now Demon Souls is back to working! Really weird!

Any ideas what could have happened? Seems odd that it wouldn’t load the other day but then worked fine after playing another game. I then get a crash just now and it fails to load again even after playing other games.. All my other stuff plays fine throughout all that though. Switch the PS5 off and on and it’s back to working!

Another thing to try (apart from the other suggestions) is to make sure the headphones are really plugged in all the way. When I had an external 3D sound processor box for the first time, the headphone jack was stiff and if the 'phones weren't plugged in all the way, you'd get an extremely muffled and out-of-phase sound from both ears with the 3D effect on. ("Out of phase" meaning it sounds like all the audio is coming from outside of my head, and none from inside.)

@CrichStand The OS is still quite buggy, plenty of people have had similar to your description in a range of scenarios.

Yeah, just had a quick google and it looks like quite a few people have had the same issue with Demon's Souls.

I've never had anything like it before with any other console, where just one game (digital version), will launch but not actually load, whilst all the other games run as normal.

Anyway, Demons Souls has been on for a while now and it's been fine, so hopefully it won't happen again. Cheers for the help!

@rafaqat Did you recently get an PS Plus renewal email? I just received one not sure why?

Yeah!   Someone else mentioned that it's to alert you that a new year of PSN has started even if you have it stacked.  So no money actually taken.  Bloody stupid!

Yup, same here.  I went from thinking the account had got hacked to thinking I had imagined stacking PSN a few months ago to then wondering why there was no record of payment anywhere.  They could have made it a really nice email like, hey thanks for being a PSN member for so long, your next 12 month subscription starts today but is already paid up, you're all set till xx/xx/xx.

lol it is Sony after all, I'm just glad my subscription is still active and was not cancelled. In other news I like how the PS5 auto-uploads save game data, could never get that on my PS4 because the kids base PS4 was the primary console.
