I hate the dualsense man, it’s so uncomfortable playing fifa or nba with it and the triggers are just an inconvenience in anything that isn’t astrobot.

Just use a PS4 pad..... well stream the game to your PS4 so you can play your PS5 with a PS4 pad!

Any news on scuff et al making their pads work on PS5?

Well done for killing it before it’s out, Housemarque!

The publisher decides the price. But yeah, as GamesGamesGames said, it will probably be worth it. I hope people who complain about lack of new IP and too much similarity support a game like this.

I've been playing quite a lot more since getting the PS5. Out of my 'end of gen' rut. Just completed COD Coldwar. Short but enjoyable, the first COD I've actually finished in ages. I always start them get one third of the way through and get bored. So I appreciated a shorter game. Levels are designed to be replayed and apparently there are multiple endings. Production values were top tier as ever. Still feels like a cross gen game but has enough next gen lighting to make it feel like a step up.

Also played some everybody's golf which appears to load 30seconds faster than a PS4 player even though it's running off an external HDD.

I find the duelsense uncomfortable, it seems to have been designed to fit in the hand better if you have two fingers on each of the triggers rather than one finger covering both.

If that were the case it would be ironic because for the first time there is no gap between the shoulder buttons and triggers, to the point where you can sit a finger where they meet and basically press both at the same time.

I love how chunky all the top buttons are, and the triggers do feel like they have a millimetre more travel. For those who dislike that though, I wonder if a game could use the resistance to emulate hair triggers.

Can't remember if anybody said this but switching off 3D audio when using a headset plugged into the DualSense stops the sound from being muffled.

Given that's the only way to get 3D audio currently on the PS5, you must have a defective pad, unfortunately.

I’m expecting decent competitive shooters to do this. I’m also hoping someone remasters Burnout 2 and have the port emulate the “slide then click” of the correct controller for the game, the GameCube.

Kinda disappointed now they didn’t do similar with the sticks. Maybe PS6.

After getting my PS5 yesterday have spending a few hours on it (mainly on Astro's Playroom), some comments:

  • It's SO DAMN LOUD. I thought it was supposed to be quiet - that was why it was so huge. It's way louder than my PS4 (B) even when just on the home screen. It's even really loud in rest mode - can still hear it over the TV.
  • The store is awful. Actually, the whole home screen/adverts/game library/etc. is a fucking mess.
  • The controller is incredible. So much feedback.
  • Astro is nice, but is really trying to be Mario with his Galaxy spin attack and his Sunshine FLUDD. And it doesn't look anywhere near as good as Odyssey. Most of the game references are lost on me because I don't give a toss about most PS games.
  • Moving profiles and saves from my PS4 was really quick and easy. Loved the sign in QR code method to move the profile.
  • No themes? I don't want anything fancy, but used to be able to tell if it was me or my daughter logged in by the blue or red colour scheme.
  • No suspend/resume? My fault for not checking but I was sure this has the same function as the Xbox.
  • Front USB port doesn't charge the controller in rest mode. Annoying as I can't get to the back ports.
  • It's too big. Luckily it's hidden by my TV but it's bloody massive.
  • Remote play doesn't work. On my PS4 I'd often shut it down using remote play on my phone - can't even connect to my PS5.

Your ps5 is broken.

It should charge the pad from any usb in rest mode.

it should be silent.

Neither of these things are true- charging from the front USB-A port doesn't work in rest mode for many people, Sony are investigating. It has a noisy fan and coil whine for a lot of people, which is why mine is at Daddy Sony's instead of under my TV.

It shouldn't be louder in Rest Mode, unless the disc drive is going.

If it’s that loud then I’m afraid there’s something wrong. Mine makes a bit of noise (all consoles will if they have a fan and disc drive), but when sat idle you can barely hear it and when playing a game it’s not really noticeable at all either, unless you’re actually listening for it when the TV goes quiet. Something sounds off with the controller not charging too.

Totally agree with you about the store being awful. Makes no sense as that’s how they sell stuff! If you can’t find anything how you can you fucking buy it? Ludicrous!

Astro Bot most definitely looks better than Odyssey! The last level looks absolutely stunning. Definitely get the FLUDD vibes though with Astro’s hover!

It's pretty damn loud when installing a game from disc but it definitely shouldn't be loud in rest mode if it's not actually doing anything. Would send it back if that's the case.

Mario Odyssey is great and a better overall game than Astrobot just because it's much more fleshed out but looks better than Astrobot? No way. Not just a resolution thing either, Odyssey's art style was very inconsistent. Some really ugly bits in there.

Have you tried another set of headphones?

I thought 3D audio was compatible with any headphones wired or wireless and that it was only TV/Soundbars etc. that weren’t supported at the moment.

It’s behind my TV in rest mode right now and I can hear it humming.

Digital console here.

Completely silent. Even if I lay in bed and tune my ears you would think nothing is powered up.

Sometimes the frequency of the fan makes a resonance within the unit but only for a few seconds.

It’s a shame it’s so 50-50 for people and it seems to come down to some manufacturing and design of a fan.

That disc drive won’t help though, depending on what it’s doing.

I wonder if you could do a kinda SMC reset thing like people do with their macs.

I've tried 3 different sets.

Sony MDR-1 over the ear

Sony MH750 buds

Another set of generic buds

With 3D audio switched on the sound gets muffled and the volume drops. Switch off 3D audio and it noticeably improves.

Worst game was Miles Morales with 3D audio on.

I found if 3d audio was left switched on for the few ps4 games I've tried it sounds very odd and echoey, but perfect in Demon's. Haven't played Miles yet though.

Seems like another thing that shouldn't be a system-wide on/off.
