Demon’s Souls got patched.

RIP patch notes...

Also is the reason you can only charge the controller from the console so they can update the controllers?

If you just charged the controllers from some plug you would never know they needed a firmware update.

I charge my controller from a plug. Haven’t plugged it into the console since I set it up. I love how they’re using USB C now. Means I can just use the one charger by my chair for the controller, my iPad, and my phone.

Your pad needs a firmware update then.

If he's never plugged it into the PS5 it will need a firmware update, all the pads I've plugged in downloaded one.

He said he hasn't plugged it in "since the initial setup", you can't set up the PS5 without plugging the controller in and updating it. :)

I also just realised literally nobody has mentioned Godfall have they? Did anyone actually buy it?

I was just wondering that, given a giant page filling advert as I opened the Epic Game Store on PC.

Did anyone buy PS5 next-gen timed exclusive and marketing "darling" Godfall when there were so many other interesting games to play?

(I hope Sony and Epic didn't pay too much money for it - I assume AMD spent a fair bit).

I'm waiting for it to arrive after having warmed to some of the more recent videos I watched of people playing it.  I think it'll be a decent co-op loot game to get stuck into with a pal or two.  I'm expecting something similar in feel to Destiny in the early days of PS4.  Light on content, repetitive but a laugh with mates.

As in, continue your PS5 save on a PS4? I don't think so.

Yeah as in if you have 2 PS4's at the moment you can with a bit of manual uploading/downloading you can play on either and keep progressing from where you left off.

So it's either play on your PS4(s) or play on your PS5(s)?

I believe so, yes.

Well this is going poorly. Trying to play astrobot and it keeps freezing or crashing. (the first time the controller stopped responding and then the game slowed down to about 1 frame every few seconds). Anyone else had similar issues?

Nope, Astro Bot has run flawlessly. Maybe try a database rebuild?

That doesn't sound good, however, try a database rebuild. Turn the machine completely off, then hold the power button down until you get a second beep (takes about 7 seconds) you'll know what do do from there.

Out of interest have you got an external hard drive in the mix?

I had my first issue earlier, well it's happened a few times, in 1-2 of Demons Souls when going back towards the first boss archstone the Dragon AI seems to cause the whole game to slow down for a few seconds, the first time it happened I thought it was a crash but then the error would intermittenly repeat always under the same circumstances, quite strange but felt more like a bug with the game than the machine. I added my new external to the setup today and touch wood no issues, I've made sure to close all game, I don't use suspend mode and rest mode is only being used for charging my controller when it needs it, otherwise it's a full power down.

Yeah, I was download some PS4 games to it. I’ve disconnected and played about half an hour of bug snax okay. I’ve deleted astrobot and am downloading it again.

Some strange things going on with how it handles external stuff. Seems to cause issues when something is happening on both internal and external drives at the same time. As ready mentioned maybe worth avoiding use of external drive while Sony work on updates.

My copies of Spider-Man and ass creed arrived from Amazon and they turned out to be Christmas stockings instead

My address label was stuck over another address label so maybe shenanigans going on but thankfully they’ve already agreed to send them out again. Got Demon Souls in a different order to keep my busy :)

I've heard so much of this, I'm pretty certain that there is some kind of organised crime in Amazon nicking stuff now and flipping it.

I;ve been using an external since launch day and havn’t any issues with the same approach. I did have issues with 2 patches on launch day that refused to install but just downloading fresh seemed to work.

Via my completely non scientific system of removing the fan from its housing while still attached and turning my PS5 on, I can safely put the blame on the noisy fan on the way it's fitted to the PS5, rather than the fan itself, which is entirely silent. There's some weird resonance that kicks off once you put the fan back in, which gets worse when you screw it down.

I think some rubber washers or something might help but since the fan is just sort of chilling in there, I dunno if it'd make a big difference.
