PlayStation 5 - Next gen is expensive

My controller charged fine in the rear port, I had heard of the issues already, also I’ve turned everything but charging off whilst in rest mode. I’m away visiting my support bubble till tomorrow so unfortunately can’t play or fill my 4tb hdd that arrived yesterday. Can’t wait to get back to it and Demons. Not had any software issues touch wood though I did trip over the power cable yesterday walking behind my tv and it pulled the console off the stand so hoping I didn’t fuck it!

A bit of a google shows the front isn’t great for charging. I will try the back usb and another iPhone block.
It shows charging from the front while I’m playing just not in rest mode and settings are correct.

I did find it odd now you mention it. The front port is only a usb 2.0 port which has a maximum of errrr (usb 3.0 is 900ma) 500ma ish?

Or is it a specific charging port, I don’t know.

use your PS4 to charge the controller , I’m sure the EU won’t mind..

It looks like the free PSVR adaptors are being sent out now for those who claimed one, mine and my son-in-law's both arrived today.

When did you request it?  I asked for mine today and hope I don't wait too long so I can relegate the Pro to the games room, and sell the games room PS4.

Looks like it takes a week or so in the post as it comes from Europe, and I'd guess add a week or so for turning the order round.

Yeah, lack of ALLM is a pain if you want to use the machine for anything other than games. Particularly frustrating considering Microsoft have been using it since the One S and One X :/

Do you think they may patch this in later on? I know some newer TVs probably have a Game mode button on the remote but its a real arse ache on an old Samsung tucked away in about four different menus.

Mind you I still need to sort the blurryness I'm getting on HDMI 1 with HDR which doesn't seem to happen in the other slots.

Ha! So my Demon Souls storage question is now null and void.

Decided to buy GT Sport (£8 in the sale) as it's the only GT game I haven't played and could use a good racing game for the new console. Just tried to download it and it's 97gb :D As such I've had to have a bit of a clear out already and even so now only have 24gb left for Demon Souls

Think I may finally invest in an external drive and shift some stuff onto that after all.

Surely that's your TV settings.

@FiveFootNinja - How are you out if space already?

In other PS5 news, I've had two more crashes in fairly quick succession while playing Miles Morales. I don't think it's a system issue that can be patched, I think it's a fault.

I think HDMI1 on Samsung defaults to being the PC input i.e. scaling is disabled and a bunch of other things, which is usually controlled by what you actually name that socket in the menu.

HDMI 4 is the pc port for chroma 444 or 120fps or whatever.

@Ry @Thor is it a particular game that you are playing that always causes crashes? Have you tried a database rebuild?

No. My first crash happened right at the end of of the initial setup of the machine. But a database rebuild can't hurt I suppose.

Lol, it just crashed while looking in the settings. What an unreliable piece of shit. Meanwhile the Series X works even if you fucking piss in it.

A database rebuild?

Make sure your PS5 system software is up to date

Turn your console all the way off (not just Rest Mode)

Press and hold the Power Button for seven seconds (release when you hear the second beep).

Connect a DualSense controller to the PS5 with a USB cable

Select the option to “Rebuild Database”

The home screen music really reminds me of Stars of the Lid, properly melancholic, staring into the middle distance, drones and tones. I love it, actually. Feels very current...Would go wonderfully well with a sense of buyer's remorse, except I'm having an absolutely fantastic time.

WRC9 has some pretty awesome haptic stuff going on. I know it's been said a few times but just wanted to reinforce the message. Excellent stuff, the clicks and shifts as you move through the gears and superb tension and release on brakes and accelerator depending on surfaces and traction and so on. I actually think it's more impressive than Astro, albeit within more limited parameters. It doesn’t look like much, really, but for that tactile feedback, it's superb and I enjoy the gameplay. Feels very Dirt Rally, to be honest.

Currently on sale for less than £25.

HDMI 1 is yellow and says 'STB/DVI' on it. Its the only slot that does HDR though.

Got my camera adapter today, just bedded the system in to floaty orientation, discovered the external HDD sits perfectly hidden under the console so no trailing wires :)

Sad to hear some of you guys aren't having a great time with your new toy. I strongly recommend a full database rebuild in safe mode hopefully that will clear your crashing issues.

I'm not going to jinks myself by saying it...but no nannying, just playing as I want to, external HDD for PS4 internal for PS5. All saves downloaded from the cloud. Pad charges fine. On that note I've used the pad from full charge for about 6 -7 hours and it's still reporting 2 our 3 bars of charge.

Played Everybody's Golf last night and the performance is way better than the Pro. Played Skyforce as well, you can see the HDR coversion doing its job. Trying to get along with DS but it's not clicked yet.

I wonder if they can push native 8K on Astrobot the anitalising makes it look so crisp especially compared to native 4k output of Everybody's Golf.

I was playing this today, looks great and felt really nice with the dualsense even without adaptive triggers etc. I’d recommend using motion for steering, it’s done really well.

I noticed that the Deluxe version is up for £29 but that the Barcelona SS, Toyota and starting boost pack or whatever it is that’s included were listed as free anyway so you can probably download those if you haven’t already.

What goes in the "Other" folder in storage?

Mine is 43GB at the moment.

I was looking at that mine is 55GB?!

Hmmm, my other folder is 35GB. When you only actually start off with 667GB it's a bit worrying that this folder seems to be ballooning and you can't even see what's in it.
