I have an external 2TB hard drive with most of my PS4 titles on, is it worth me moving them onto the PS5 SSD drive or is there no notable difference so just leave them on the external?

Moving them now, will test Bloodstained afterwards as that one had the most drastic cut in loading times.

Well, mixed emotions here. I managed to get incredibly lucky and snag a John Lewis disc edition yesterday and it's just turned up. Hooray! Except the seal on the main PS5 box was just folded down over the side and the flap open when I opened the flimsy packaging bag it was sent in.

I'd normally assume this was a return being resold but as it's a launch machine that can't be it. Can I just check with others who have theirs if there are any kind of other seals, etc. that should be present on the inner packaging - e.g. should the plastic wrap that is around the console itself have tape on it?

Everything seems to be present and correct but I'm feeling paranoid that I've got some kind of dud here. I guess I should set it up and find out.

Okay, thanks. Everything seems to be there but the quick start guide and safety booklet were mangled so I was expecting the worst. Perhaps just a result of a bumpy ride in the DPD van.

Can I just mention what an incredible step back the UI is? It's not just muscle memory, it's the way Sony copied the Switch UI, but didn't go all the way. So now unplayed games trail off into a nebulous library which you can sort and filter, but won't remember its settings. At all. You have to resort every damned time you open the library. On top of that, the library is littered with literally every piece of software I touched. I have multiple instances of certain games because tests, demos and full games are all separate entities. That one disc a mate popped into the PS4 ages ago? Now a locked icon in your main library. That one time I had to test Infamous on PS Now. It's a scar for all eternity. Also because those tests and demos are now linked to a single game title, they all use the same icon so they aren't even identifiable as test and demos. It's madness. I've spent a few minutes with some titles, wondering why oh why this title was part of my library. Weird trip down memory lane that. There are still titles I have no idea of how they ended up there.

Sorting itself is just... who designed this? You've got your sorting in the top right, but the icon to change the sorting is all the way to the left...?

Wondered where your cloud saves are? Because there's no shortcut in the game icon's context menu. It's also not there in the storage settings. No, it's IN THE PS PLUS APP. As a tiny icon in the top right that completely escapes attention, because its colours are the same as the giant PS Plus Collection hero image you see when you open the PS PLUS APP. Why does this 'thing' exist?

And never mind the other quick bar settings. Every setting there seems to have a main screen and a pop-up all behaving differently. It's a bloody mess. As for the cards: TIHI. Just mindless clutter.

*breathe out*

But oh my god, Demon's Souls is just amazing.

I agree with this. Also, get the PlayStation Hits banners off the cover art. Tacky as fuck.

You'll be able to tell if it's used or not when you first boot it. If you see the first boot scene then it's not been used.

Anyone able to recommend a good headset please?

Thats not a Pulse 3D! Cant find a pulse...

If you can find a pair of Sony Platinums going cheap I can confurm

tbey work pretty flawlessly with the PS5 (better in some ways than with the PS4). Would assume Golds are the same as well.

Anyone know if the PS+ collection can only be redeemed once per console? If I signed my mate in on my PS5 would they be able to claim the collection? They’ve only just got a PS4 and it would be so cool to be able to get them ALL the games. Would be worth a pint or two at least.

It feels like they've cobbled this UI together in the months between the intial tease in the reveal trailer and the actual release. Hell, if I didn't know better I'd say it runs on the PS Store rather than the console having its own UI.

Man this Spider-Man Remastered is ssoo good. Glad I booked a few days off because I'm loving just swinging around, been exploring the city a bit to open up more towers and getting used to the combat. I hated it on the PS4 and thought it wouldn't click but now I've sat down to play properly I'm having a great time. Amazing game to get me back into modern stuff again and no more crashes!

Just had my first crash. Was on the Fisk opening bit for Spidey 4 and died in a battle, it just went to black and none of the on screen prompts from home would work. Can't turn it off or go into power off mode.

i had one when you first meet Rhino in MM total ps5 black screen and i feared the worst

Did you get your code?  When i try to view it says "Sony cant respond to this request" or something.

Not yet. The confirmation email I got said it will appear in the "Digital Items" part of my account. The purchase is there but the code hasn't appeared yet. Says something about a fraud check in the confirmation email and that it will appear after that.

Seems like I'm the only one who's a fan of the cards, maybe it's just my limited playtime, so being able to drop in to a specific area of the game to continue a quest is really useful to me.

I've used them so far exclusively in Astrobot though as that's the only PS5 game I've played so far, mainly because it's so good, that and Demon's Souls requires a long session to get into. however, for Astrobot the cards have been crucial for getting 100% of the collectables in each area. 12 seconds from cold boot to get right into the section you want to play is pretty amazing. Also 4seconds (head count rather than proper time) to go from the hub to the section I want just by clicking on the card.

I quite like them too, only used them in Astrobot to jump straight into the Challenges but I thought it was cool going from UI to start of a challenge within a couple of seconds. The leaderboards for the challenges are a nice touch, extends replayability a bit.

I’ve got to say I do love this new console, when your playing games it’s great.

The UI and...well everything else is just all wrong and at best broken.

The new store is way worse.

Many many bugs.

Lots of terrible design choices in terms of layout and operation.

I could list many many things I want them to change...but I should just pick a game and play it.

Not sure which is the appropriate thread but there's something weird going on with the PS Store for me.  For me son's account it's saying he's got no PS Plus subscription.  It also takes two attempts to bring up the subscription management page every time I try. I know he does have a subscription.   He can claim PS plus games right now.   On his console it says he has a subscription.

Anyone else get the subscription management page oddness?

How’s the DualSense then, for those of you who’ve been using it today? Does it live up to the hype?

It's OK. But not this mind blowing revolution that a lot of people made it out to be.

So how the fuck does this upgarad path work. Got a code for Mile Morales and redeemed it on the PS5 and it just shows the PS4 version... I'm downloading it now will it just get patched to PS5 afterwards as there were no options to upgrade it on the store.
