I was quite optimistic yesterday that I might be able to get one on order today, either for in store collection or for delivery within a day or two.

 

What a clusterfuck trying to get one online was. I was lucky in that when I woke up this morning, I managed to place an order via Currys with no hassle or delays but then spent all day thinking it was going to be cancelled, especially as their twitter support pretty much said it would be.

 

Plan B, C, D and E were all quickly exhausted as one by one the major retailers websites died. F5, F5, F5.....

 

John Lewis teased me with the old "it's in the basket! Yay! Checkout Failed... Boooo" trick about half a dozen times before completely crapping out.

Amazon was much the same. Refresh and it's there. Blink and it's gone.

 

Eventually I got an email from Currys at 3:00 pm saying my order was legit, but that it'll be with me by 15th December. Hopefully sooner but you never know.

 

I'll keep an eye on Amazon over the next few days on the off chance I can get a next day delivery for one and then I'll cancel my Currys order. If all else fails I'll stick with it and be joining you all in PS5 land on the 15th December.

 

In the meantime I'll try to get hold of the official charging stand (anyone seen it in stock anywhere?) and hopefully there might be some cheaper second hand copies of MM or Sackboy kicking about in a week or two.

I wouldn't touch rest mode with a barge pole, fair few people have been having system breaking bugs, wiping save data and crashing the console. Turn it off until the firmware gets updated.

Here's a weird one.

 

Installed Miles Morales from disc. Played for half an hour. Saved. Powered down.

 

Just gone to play again and it appears to have uninstalled itself. There's an update now too. Maybe that has something to do with it.

 

Also, Demons Souls installed and was played. Not showing on installed games now.

Odd, mine is in rest mode, and it's completely silent.

Ah, maybe that's what happened to my Spidey and Demon's Souls installs.

 

Full power-down it is then.

 

I did rewire the whole set-up in the end. PS5 and Xbox Series S directly into the TV. Colours just look a little more "poppy" even though image settings are the same so defo something worth doing.

lol just did this! Ejected the disc gave it a wipe and still put it back in the wrong way! :lol:

I had a similar experience with my Series X - I changed the HDMI port from 2 to 1 and the Xbox stopped complaining. 
 

The strange thing is, the PS4 is very happy to pump out HDR over HDMI2, even though the Xbox wasn’t. Odd.

I don't trust rest mode with any other feature other than charging my controller so I set custom settings for just that. I also don't trust or need instant resume whilst the OS is still a bit flaky so I'm also making sure to shut games down before turning the machine off. I know they have these features and they should be stable but it seems they may not be at present so I am erring on the side of caution.

Can't see anything within the settings, UI nor the PS Store. Tried plugging in a stick and nothing appeared or popped up.

 

Only Spotify comes close at the moment.
