@Ferine suggested correctly, it was plugged into an hdmi port on my TV that didn't support HDR. Now it's in one that does and it's fine.

I’ve been playing Sackboy on PS4 all week. It’s a strong contender for feel good game of the year. The music alone will make every child’s PS5 Christmas special. Hats off to Sumo, they’ve made me feel like the Edge reviewer who gave LBP a 10.

 

But I didn’t think I needed a PS5 just yet. Then when they became available on Amazon at 1pm, it wasn’t a question of need, it came down to the meta game of seeing if I could beat the bots and scalpers. Amazon just dispatched a PS5 via DPD. Yolo. Apart from Sackboy who will ride again tomorrow.

It'll be fine... SSDs are far more durable than spinners.... Looking how some courier drivers treat the boxes... Yes it will be fine... :D

A van turned up outside my place. Got all excited. A bloke in a high vis vest got out and looked in the back it was packed with Amazon boxes. I got even more excited. He looked in the back for a bit then just drove off.

 

It's nicked isn't it, I should have run out screaming and accosted him like that bloke in the Xbox thread did.

As I was saying a few days ago. I finished it off last night and it really is absolutely brilliant all the way through. Love it.

 

The GPU song which it sings to you is hilarious.

 

The more you play the better the whole game gets imo. Looking forward to diving back in for all the extras I've missed.

Tinkered around with mine a little bit and spent some time getting my LGCX appropriately setup for it.

 

Only tried Astrobot for about 20 minutes but thought it was lovely. As an introduction to a new piece of hardware it’s ideal, really. Controller also feels excellent. I wouldn’t say it’s completely night-and-day better than HD Rumble, but it certainly feels like a step up.

 

One slight (and I mean slight) disappointment is that the media remote doesn’t use a pointer like my TV remote does but... eh, nothing important, would just have been incrementally more convenient I guess!

 

Overall though the system feels ace, and I’ve not even gone near Demon’s Souls, Spider-Man or the holy grail that is Bugsnax yet.

Thanks for this, changing the settings on my C9 to what the person recommended made a huge difference. I had wondered why Astro Bot looked a little blurry and slightly dull.

 

Edit: And now I've just gone back to Spider-Man and holy shit it looks incredible.

The UI is nice, needs a way to quick go into rest mode. Astrobot is ok. Spider Morales is amazing.

Not keen on the consoles LEDs, will see if I've any of my LED dimming stickers that'll fit. Also can't wait for the black plates, looks out of place in my AV unit. Although it fits nicely.

I prefer the VR Astro OST, I still think that's the definite Astro OST (available on spotify!) but yeah I love the singing about GPUs and SSD drives etc.

Is it worth rewiring the TV setup so the PS5 and XBS are directly into the TV rather than through the ZF9 soundbar?

 

Obs. 120hz is one added bonus of doing this but what about 4:4:4 RGB or whatever it is. PS5 currently says YUV as I'm guessing soundbar isn't HDMI 2.1 compatible.

So, having determined that the PS5 is actually almost Twice As Good as the Series X (assuming you place sensible weighting on the shape of its controller), I thought I'd chance my arm today. Had the same, fun experience as everyone else in the morning, but got 'lucky' with my timing checking Very at 10:30. About ten minutes of struggles with logins later, I placed an order for a PS5 with PSPlus. I didn't place much hope in actually getting it - I'd watched the Very 3080 debacle unfold a few months back, which combined with my losing time to checkout left me very unconfident. No confirmation email or text, and then people in thread started mentioning that very were cancelling orders - particularly/specifically the bundles with PSPlus. Clearly it wasn't meant to be!

 

Only... it's been the better part of a day now. I have since received 'order received' confirmations by text and email. And the order tracking is showing as, well, this:

(which is a damn sight sooner than the 'by December 17' advertisement suggested)

 

Dare I hope?

Love it so far, Astro is wonderful as expected, I loaded up Yakuza 6 and Kamarocho Nightime in HDR looks amazing. Shenmue III runs at 60FPS in HDR , sunsets are beuatiful. I know it's not 'true HDR' but it's still an improvement to me. Console runs whisper quiet and the pad feels sturdy and the dualsense featues very welcome. Happy launch day to you all

I did a manual upload of save files before I disconnected the PS4. I did have to download them all manually onto the PS5 as well.

Ok, I'll set mine back up tomorrow just to make sure all my saves were uploaded. I'd hate to stick in a game and find out later that the save isn't there. Cheers

I know about this feature but I can’t find it.

 

So far I have to say the layout of this system is pretty abysmal. Obviously it’s a stellar console and I love it but bugger me they have almost totally fucked up the day to day mundane operation of it.
