Are you using the same HDMI port you used previously? Sometimes the different ports are of a different spec or require you to enable certain display features from the TV's menu.

I'm not, actually. Using the port from the defunct FreeSat box that was here (non-HDR_

Coil whine is a natural function of running powerful electronics at a high speed, is what I was always led to believe with graphics cards (as in: it won't go away). There will be variance in how noticeable it is though so may be more or less obtrusive depending on how hard the machine is being pushed. @layten could probably give a more technical/better answer.

Also as you get older you probably won't hear it anyway as the frequency response of your ears reduces over time... win for older gamers! :D

Ah, it arrived. Lovely stuff. mostly just set it up, added the PS Plus Collection games to my library and started the downloads of the media apps/games I want on there. Once my wife and I are finished work we'll play Astro's Playroom together.

 

Nice that you can see the playtime for your games now; Street Fighter V leads with 1239 hours (then 500+ for Ultra Street Fighter IV).

I F5'd all morning. Every site out there. Finally gave up and took the dog for walk. While the dog was shitting outside the job centre I got a distill.io alert on my watch telling me it was in stock at amazon (I'm refreshing the page every 5 mins). I whipped out my phone and hammered the buy now button but kept getting looped into "removed from basket". Eventually it stuck and I now have an order for tomorrow!

 

I've still got my Currys cheeky 3am order which has just been honoured/confirmed despite them explicitly telling everyone they would be cancelled (now we know why this morning was such a disaster, they were all sold out by 9AM). And my EE order. Both are on for delivery by the 15th December. So I've got three PS5s on order now. Whoops.

My initial impressions are:

  1. It's fucking massive.
  2. The initial setup was slicker than I expected. A system update, a QR code to login via your phone app, a quick HDR calibration and you're off.
  3. Astro seemed fun (although I barely touched it.)
  4. The new UI is similar enough that when it's different, it's confusing.
  5. It's fucking massive.

I used to get this on my One X. After some fiddling it’ll remember that it does. If you’re using a cable that didn’t come in the box that could be it.

Has the patch sorted out the issue about picking the wrong game? I have Watch Dogs Legion from PS4 and want to make sure I have the PS5 version downloaded but I can't really see any options. It just looks like the only option I have is Watch Dogs Legion without mentioning which platform?

Boom. Just sold my second PS5 to a guy from work for £360. So I lost a tenner actually as I paid 10mquid for super delivery which didn’t happen lol

 

I have one, I’m very happy. Just need those cloud saves.

I don't think the upgrade is available for Legion yet. There should be a really obvious option on main game tile, but I spent a good 10 minutes looking for one in various menus to no avail.

 

Apparently there was the exact same issue with this game at the Australian launch, with the upgrade going live the next day, so I guess they've making a habit of coming in late.

Yeah, same here. I've downloaded my TVs manual to have a read. Was wondering if there was a specific HDMI port I should use. Not sure I'll get away with another new TV, two in 1 year seems excessive even to me.

I managed to bag two today via Currys and EE, didn't hold out hope for either but had the confirmation from EE.

 

Then I received the 'on it's way by 15th December' email from Currys so have been on the live chat with them and cancelled that one to get the money refunded and will stick with the EE one.

 

Hopefully someone else who wants one can now bag the Currys one.
