I'm having a real dilemma about Demon's Souls. How tough is it relative to Bloodborne, and how much cool exploring do you get to do? I was really enjoying BB, but I ran out of skill and enthusiasm for bosses halfway through. I wasn't going to get it, but it looks so good.

A bit easier all-round. There's no interconnected world although you do get multiple zones to explore and those are very good, each with their own shortcuts.

I'm in a similar boat, I'm expecting the SSD to make a big impact on the frustration of dying though.

It really is a lovely bit of kit, so HEFTY! And so much better in the flesh as it were. I love it already.

Pad is amazing if a bit odd to start with whilst acclimatising. Walking over the new PS logo on the floor in the heart of your machine in Astrobot is when I went....oooooohhhhhhhh! Hehe. I'll leave it at that for you all to discover but it just works. So many nice touches as well.

I was going to wait till black Fri to get more games but I'm crumbling by the second.

In some ways the world structure makes it a lot more straightforward and bite size to get used to the level and enemy design - there are some classes which can be a bit overpowered at first and let you engage enemies at a distance (the royal/mage) and unlike bloodborne you have easy access to shields which can allow you to tank a bit more. With some relative patience it is likely easier than Bloodborne - there is a good amount of exploration in each level without being overwhelming.

I'm in the same boat.  Bloodborne was not for me at all but was the only Souls game I tried.  I will probably never get through DS either but I'm going to give it a proper go and shiny graphics are important on a new console!

If anyone here is considering buying Sackboy digitally, but happy to wait a bit, feel free to let me know.

Apparently I'll be getting a code for it from work, which is lovely, but my partner already bought me the disc version for my birthday last month.

I could ask her to return it, but I already removed the cellophane, and I'd rather keep the disc version anyway, so it'd be good to sell the code on once I have it, and maybe pick something else up.

This thread moves fast so start a new thread in the trading forum, I am sure someone will take it off you.

Aye, fair point, was just gauging interest so I could make a decision about returning the disc.

Anyone that might be interested, ping me a message (as some have already done) and once I have it I can make a post in Trading, and will DM you all in advance. I'm only gunna ask for similar to what you could get it for elsewhere, so no one's gunna lose out, just means you can get the thing you were already gunna buy, and it's off my hands as it were.

You're not allowed to be positive about it, IT HAS PROBLEMS! Very vague, barely explained problems!

I'm more concerned with the handles not being big enough like the PS4 pad which always gives me hand cramps. Well not concerned. I'm probably 3 years away from considering whether to get one.

It's bigger than PS4.

Agree it looks stunning but I've watched some of the boss fights and thought could I really kill that? No chance!

I don't have the reaction speed and skill level. I'll just enjoy looking in through the shop window and drooling ...

I would say the level design is a little less kind than Bloodborne; more cheap deaths on first run through. I also tended to get lost more, but the dreary graphics were largely the cause there - Bloodborne had clearer landmarks for me to orient by, which I need as I have rubbish spatial awareness in games.

Of course, I'm also an impatient hack and slasher, so that made Bloodborne's aggressive combat suit me a lot more than DS's more measured affair.

Bloodborne, by contrast, I found to have considerably more challenging bosses. So if they're the particular source of frustration for Uncle Mike this may well be a more manageable game!

I don't have a log in for the telegraph but Jim Ryan's done an interview with them:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gaming/features/playstation-ceo-jim-ryan-70-fair-price-ps5-games-launch-line/

"Talking to the Telegraph, Sony boss Jim Ryan was tight-lipped on the game. When asked if God of War: Ragnarok is a PS5 exclusive, Ryan simply said: “Sorry. I’ve got nothing to say about that today.”"

I feel really lucky I'm too exhausted at the moment to even expend energy looking forward to this. I tried to convince my wife to bunk off on Thursday to wait in for it but she said she doesn't want to be sacked. Really find out who your friends are.
