The way I see it, in the grand scheme of things, whether Demon’s Souls remake sells well or not is irrelevant. In this culture and craft of Videogames, the Souls series is a cultural phenomenon. A legit, proper colossus of the medium. Some say that first one that people slept on is the best one. Now the sizeable masses of Jonny Come Latelies, myself included, get to finally go back to the source, and play the daddy. With a standard of presentation that is hitherto unseen in the console gaming arena. It is culturally and critically an amazing launch title, and these are the things that matter to me as an enthusiast. They’ve gone and catered to me and people like me and I want to support that.

I also anticipate it selling well in any case! Certainly far better than the original. I think it will be recognised as a success by most measures, and I will suspect all that success will be more than deserved.

Someone submit this to Pseud's Corner.

Spot on! Great post! Also, AstroBot on PS5, (just like the VR game on PS4), displays a level of quality and creativity that arguably outdoes even Nintendo. That game alone, along with the DualSense, is about as “next gen” as you can get. For me personally - WRC9, AstroBot, Spider-Man, Demon’s Souls......it’s the best launch line up there’s ever been.

I’m definitely out on both S and X for now. Will wait and see what happens when Microsoft finally get some big exclusive next gen games out. Feels like they’ve already screwed up again though and put themselves on the backfoot. GT7 is down for the first half of 2021 along with AAA games like Returnal, Rift in Time etc which will shift PS5s big time. Going to be interesting to see how things pan out!

I know I shouldn’t engage but come on, it’s not out and you haven’t played it  - the previews all praise the showcase of the pad and the nostalgia of it but it’s not even billed as a full game let alone something to hold a candle to Nintendo’s finest to be played for decades - a great experience I’m sure but let’s not sully the fine game that Astrobot VR is with early previews of this and pray that Sony do release a full sequel to Astrobot in VR with dual sense.

Now that would be a game you have to own the system for, an actual Halo game....

Not sure why you shouldn’t engage, unless you’re a bit of a fanboy that doesn’t like facts and other people having their own opinions? Which seems to be the case with a few people on here! All a bit Gamesradar forums circa 2001 or whatever. Lol

Its been widely reported that AstroBot is a full game that lasts for several hours. It’s also been widely reported that it’s brilliant, packed with “Nintendo style” creativity and takes full advantage of the DualSense, which has also been widely praised and even termed “revolutionary” by some. I’m sceptical of the controller being that good, however, I’ve no doubt Astrobot will be proper awesome and a welcome blast of sunshine at a time it’s most needed.

Seeing as you appear to have played AstroBot VR I’m surprised you’d be doubting that! It’s not just one of the best games this gen, but it’s one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had, in well over 30yrs of gaming. It’s absolutely magical. I’m therefore really looking forward to playing the new AstroBot and it showcasing the DualSense. Make sense? :)

I feel it’s the kind of title that Microsoft are currently sorely lacking and Sony really should be making more of. It’s an out and out, all ages video game, full of magic and wonder, the like we only usually see from Nintendo. It’s not another dull space shooter or “adult” open world, chock full of bad language and equally bad “gameplay”. That alone is enough for it to get my vote for the game I’m most looking forward to at launch!

Agreed. The thing that made Astrobot amazing was the combination of it and VR not sure how well it will stack up without its USP. We'll see I guess... .

if astrobot hits the heights of the PSVR game then I think astrobot is going to be a huge sleeper hit. There’s a whole generation of people who ‘were too old for Kiddie Nintendo games’ and so who would never buy it. But as a pack in they are going to realise they’re now old enough for kiddie Nintendo games again.

Astrobot on PSVR is the best non-Nintendo 3Dplatformer in probably twenty years.

It’s a very calculated Nintendo move. Push a mascot. Push celebrating Sony history. I think it’s going to smash it.

I can't wait to play what will undoubtedly be the greatest game of all time: Astrobot on PS5.

If this is supposed to be snarky you really need to get a PSVR with Astro Bot: Resuce Mission. I wouldn't be surprised if Team Asobi is a bunch of ex-Nintendo devs at Sony. Regardless, hats off to them.

Re the limited SSD space, I've noticed that the webstore doesn't show the size of the game you are looking at anymore, I'm not sure if that's on purpose or more likely just another failure in the abomination of the new store. Still I'm totally hyped, (partly because I also have 7 working days off from the 19th and I am exhausted) 13 days now!

We can still use external USB storage which is ok for now whilst we wait for Sony to confirm which SSD drives work with the PS5. I will need to do some housekeeping to go down from the current 2TB on the PS4.

Shimmyhill is a bit funny with non Nintendo games and somewhat prone to hyperbole.

I dunno why. I don't think I've been really excited by anything Nintendo put out since BOTW (which I found a bit dull overall thanks to its awful story elements) and recently sold my console for lack of use. About to get a PS5 and have piles of decent games lined up and very excited to play. Doubt I'll ever go back to the Switch this gen.

Given the website doesn't even display prices or the purchase buttons in certain instances, it's fairly safe to assume incompetence rather than maliciousness.

Yeah that's what I think, it's just annoying when you have already limited space. They need to release that slot asap.

Maybe I've just plain ignored PS Now for too long, but in trying to see if the PS Store was updated, I stumbled upon the fact that PS Now is €60 a year. That's... cheap... enough? (And rather odd as most PS Now promos seem to imply €10 a month instead...)

Will be interesting to see what it'll do with PS5 games after the launch, because at that price and with game downloads it could be a rather OK-ish Game Pass replacement.

Got a source for GT7 in the first half of 2021?!

Officially no, but I have 'insiders'. GT7 has been promised for Q1, but got bumped because there are too many other titles in Q1 ) Ithink Sony Management are finally wise to Kaz and his shenanigans). Now slated for June, how we laughed, expect it Sept/Oct.

You can find it online for £33-35 for the year too. It's good for third party, the only real downside is that Sony are reluctant to put many of their own games on it.

Bit of a shame, but they're closer to having a full-blown Game Pass than I expected. Considering their current focus, they'll probably never have launch-day parity.

Guess the slow console news ATM is to be expected during the US election. I guess Friday will be the beginning of the marketing push given the launches in the US are so close.

Apparently the embargo lifts today so expects a wave of news as soon as the Americans get up ;)

It's practically the same as Game Pass with the addition of streaming PS3 games (if that's you're thing) but the subtraction of All Sony First Party, which obvs MS put them up there day one and don't take them done.

Sony will never do that though. Their first party games are huge budget big sellers that need that impact and not the smaller budget loss leader approach that MS take with it's first party titles.

Just me who quite likes the look of Godfall, then?  It looks pretty, has big weapons, and doesn't seem to require much thought to play.  Seems like the perfect choice to dip into when Demon's get a bit frustrating.

I'm fucking getting one.

Going to wait and see but certainly considering it.

I really would like something else to play (only spiderman interests me at launch) but refuse to pay over £50 for any game. I might pick it up depending on reviews and when its down to £30 or less.

I've ordered it but I am not sure exactly what it is or why is has to be online.

It absolutely was, but yeah, I've played it.

A good game in VR.
