Also quite neat about the circuit board design was the radial placement of the memory. Don't know if there is a technical reason for that, but it looked quite elegant. 

 

Design is growing on me.

 

 


I think you see that a lot in computer design, to ensure every component is the same distance and therefore signals reach components in sync.

You would still need to take the fan off to clean the dusk stuck around it after a while. Nice to know that you can. The PSU looks a little fragile with a two pin connection.

Now that I've made a silly joke and posted an awesome giant Japanese thing...

 

The thought that's gone into that design is amazing, what a wonderful video.

When I started to watch it, I wanted to be all "yeah great Sony, so we can take it to bits, but can we see it, you know, turned on and perhaps showing something!?" but it's nice.

The attention to detail with the screw for the stand, and marking the position for the stand in horizontal formation with the Playstation logos is lovely (it looked like that's what they were for anyway).

I think you're probably supposed to blow the dust off the fan without removing it, using compressed air, and collect the dust from the holes.

There is two dusting holes. You only need to take the sideplates off. The dust from the fans ends up in the dustholes where you can vacuum it out.

Taking the fan off will invalidate your warranty, so not a good idea in the short term.

It might be the biggest console they've ever made but it certainly is also the best thought out and highest quality I've seen with respect to cooling and heat dissapation. I'm very pleasantly surprised

I'm pleasantly surprised at the capaciousness of the M.2 expansion slot. Figured any drives with chunky heatsinks would be off the table, but it looks like it should accommodate a wide variety of form factors; the main benefit of this is a better array of prices.
