Let's not fuck about though, I'd spend some legit currency on a shiny Penis Arms Spike Urethra Man Silent Hill 3.

You wanna play as Pyramid Head? Better be ready to grind that battle pass to level 150.

4 player co-op.

Choose from Harry, James, Heather...

...yeah I can't remember anybody after that,

Pre-order from GameStop and get exclusive legendary Jon Snow skin from that terrible sequel to the already not that great first film.

I’ve never played Demon’s, so I’m definitely looking forward to it, but a remake of a PS3 game isn’t really showing off what the console is capable of, is it?

Like any good next gen remake, it’s kinda exactly what it’s going to do.

Silent Hill is apparently a full reboot from SCEJ with Toyama directing and Ito and Yamaoke involved. Ito stated on Twitter that he's sick of Pyramid Head so we might not see his return.

Introducing: Cube Head!

(That would be great though, I had no idea. Really looking for to new Silent Hill goodness)

I can't believe anyone thought it would play PS1 games.

The PS4 doesn't even have a drive capable of reading CDs

It would have been nice if it would have been able to play the digital versions of the PS1 games I own on the Vita, though.

That doesn't stop the PS5 from reading them though.

Do you genuinely believe they'll put a CD compatible drive in the PS5 in 2020?

If they do then great but I can't think of a genuine business reason to do it. Would their increased manufacturing costs to include it result in more profit? I doubt it'll increase sales by any kind of noticeable margin.

@mdn2 got it right, having PS1 compatibility through downloads only would be easy as they already have an emulator written.

It’s actually on the PS4 spec sheet that the drive can read CDs, but with a footnote that the console won’t play audio CDs.

It’s all beside the point. If PS1 emulation didn’t make the jump from PS3 to PS4 after all these years, PS3 back compatibility is still using actual PS3 chips in cloud servers, and only like two PS2 games got emulated on PS4, there’s clearly absolutely no interest in solving this problem on the side of Sony and the games’ publishers.

Edit-

Spoiler

Which is frankly ridiculous. For a company which has such an important history of games and hardware, Sony show such contempt for its own back catalogue. Just look at the level of effort they put into the PlayStation Mini.

I really do wish they would solve this problem and offer BC that goes back to PS1, I just can't see it happening.

If they do though, I'll be straight on eBay for a copy of SSX Tricky and Gitaroo Man.

It's crazy that they don't come up with a software solution, if they want to sell them to me via the PS store and actually make some money on it I'd be more than happy to pay.

Honestly the PS Mini was going to be difficult in a whole lot of ways the NES and SNES weren’t, and for similar reasons to why PS BC stopped being particularly well supported when disks went out of the picture. It’s a shame and a missed opportunity but “contempt” is not a great take IMO.

I don’t think EA will have the licence to distribute SSX titles with the soundtrack intact, and god knows who still has the Gitaroo-Man rights.

I’ve gone over it before so I’ll leave it at this, but the Xbox has the huge advantage that all 360 software and later was released for a console with an online store.

Didn't Jim Ryan say "Why would anybody want to play this?" when shown older versions of Gran Turismo?
